Depends on your blog... There is no general rule i'm afraid.

If you make a blog about cats, trade links with petstores, search cat toplists, talk in pets forums,... . If your blog is about headlights of your car, trade links with car dealerships, use car toplists and talk in car forums... Wink

Also, building traffic without spending money requires a lot of time + effort on your side. Keep that in mind, free traffic doesn't come overnight, it takes months (or even years)...

Announce through your Facebook that you have a new article posted on your blog and use the link of your blog on your signature or personal message. You can also use twitter if you have a lot of followers
