Were you in a hurry to get it confirmed? If not, you could have just left it at 3 sat/vbyte. I have had transactions that were stuck in the mempool for days but that was never a problem unless I needed the money straight away.

270+ sat/vbyte is huge. I can't recall a recent thread with such an amount used for fees. Both transactions are now confirmed so you are good to go. Good for you that you were able to take advantage of the CPFP feature.

When using CPFP, you need to add the sizes of the two transactions and the fee of the two transactions together, to get the combined fee rate. Since your first transaction has 18 inputs, it is much larger than your second one, and so pulls the average fee down significantly.

Your first transaction is 1297.25 vbytes, and pays a fee of 3,900 sats, for a fee rate of 3 sats/vbyte.
Your second transaction is 110 vbytes, and pays a fee of 29,997 sats, for a fee rate of 272.7 sats/vbyte.

If you combine those two transactions, they have a combined size of 1407.25 vbytes, and a combined fee of 33,897 sats. This works out to a combined fee rate of 24.1 sats/vbyte.

If you look at the size of the mempool here (https://jochen-hoenicke.de/queue/#1,8h), 24.1 sats/vbyte puts your two combined transaction at around 6 MB from the tip of the mempool, so you will likely still be waiting several hours at least for these to confirm.

Nothing, really. A good proportion of the transactions in the mempool are paying quite a high fee.

CPFP works when a miner notices your child transaction and decides to mine both the parent and the child to claim for the transaction fee. CPFP is a voluntary option by the miner and they can choose to include or not. Judging by the current fees, I would believe that miners who are looking for CPFP transactions would be pretty enticed by your transaction. I would give it a few more hours, that's the only thing that you can do anyways.

Do go to your settings in Electrum and enable opt-in RBF in the future though, the problem would've been solved easily Smiley.

So about a few hours ago i sent a BTC transaction using Electrum with the fee bar untouched. Turns out it sent the transaction out at 3 sat/b and it looked normal because it displayed as it being 0.5MB from tip, but when I restarted electrum it just shot up towards 10MB+ and constantly changing. So, I used Child Pays for Parent and I've waited 2 hours with no luck (the fee was 180 sat/b). So I increased the fee on the CBFP transaction to 272 sat/b & now it's marked as double spent. It's still not doing anything.

I know i've probably did a lot of things wrong and I'm pretty confused on what to do next to try and fix this.
