Both the transactions are now showing 'Not Found' on blockchain block explorer so I guess it's safe to assume that they were indeed dropped and you must have gotten your coins back in your wallet and that you added the right fee for the new transactions.

I actually had this problem myself and ended up downloading and installing electrum then importing the private key from the wallet that had a stuck transaction.
Cant for the life of me remember what I did after that but I know It was all done via electrum.

Nope. Due to blockchain Stress test or Spam attack recently the miners are avoiding low fee/0 fee transaction, so you will have to wait either it will get through or it will get dropped in few days and then the btc will be back in your wallet. You can't lose the money. It is always advised to add atleast 10k satoshi fee to every transaction.
So it is actually still possible that I send a transaction and it will not happen because it will be dropped eventually (if low fees and/or spam attack)?

Then you wont lose any coins you have, if the transaction got throught then your coins will be on your 2nd address but if the transaction got dropped then your coins will be on your first address
