Since bitcoin network became popular, it may occasionally experience latency on transactions, but because of the associated increase of the size of the commissions, people can think about the alternative to get rid of these problems. Some supporters of cryptocurrencies recommended to use altcoins when transactional traffic reaches the maximum volume to save money on commissions and expedite the transaction processed by bitcoin miners. However, using alitcoins alternatively doesn't really make you to save money, but it can create some difficulties, which you didn't expect.

To use bitcoin together with altcoins will bring lower risks due to the possible split of bitcoin. Each cryptocurrency has its problems, which can be result of financial losses because value fall. But probability that something bad will happen in several currencies is much less. So no need to think: "to use bitcoin or altcoins" when you can use both. Yes, and in fact there is no division into bitcoin and altcoin. There are cryptocurrencies, and they are different.

hello everyone,

I have bitcoin Transaction Unconfirmed for 4 days already, has anyone experienced similar delays?
I understand fee is low but does that mean that I gonna have to wait months if not more than that to get my money received?

I managed to submit your transaction to the viabtc accelerator service. Viabtc will confirm it for you in the next block it mines, It's ten hours since it mined its last block, so hopefully it shouldn't be too long unyil it mines its next one. Blockchain.info shows it usually mines a few a day.

Wow, it've been confirmed indeed, thank you very much! finally received it

I relate, and I have been exactly in this position before. It really drags out while waiting on the Blockchain for a deposit,  it is especially lame when you are not able to select your own fee.  Companies are acting irresponsibly when they opt for the cheaper route and get their customers super cranky in the meantime.
Soon hopefully you will have a confirmation. Hang in there!

Thank you Smiley lets see how much time will it eventually take. I'd be grateful if I receive it at all.

The point of the puzzle with other coins is that very few persons will accept them as a form of payment, especially merchants. They accept widely the bitcoin but rarely they accept any other coin. That is why other coins have very fast confirmation because of low volume in transactions.

If i am a merchant, i would accept a coin with fast confirmations time and direct all payments to an exchange to convert into BTC. I most definitely would not wait 4 blooming days for BTC to confirm. Even if i am a online merchant, it is insane and stupid to use Bitcoin. Online merchant may send off deliveries the next day, but not 4 days. Consumers will simply use traditional banking for next day delivery.

Fact: Bitcoin is officially going to the dogs as "A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System."

It won't be long before merchant turn their attention to other coins like Steller for near instant payment, or Litecoin for online retailing. A savvy merchant may not want to convert all coins to BTC, it would be wise to hold some back to profit from future rises when more merchant realised Bitcoin is going nowhere.

Well... true, thank you for explanation.

Has anyone had 1 month+ delays in the past?

actually I have 11 days of delays for a tx with 41byte/byte.

@swogerino some altcoins are designed for fast confirmation (like 1 block each 1 minutes) or other stuff for fast tx.

Try this service: https://www.viabtc.com/tools/txaccelerator/

Submit your transaction and they will add it to the blocks they mine. The service is sometimes full and don't accept new transactions so you might have to keep trying every few hours, but short of that at the fee you put it could be weeks before you receive it if the current congestion keeps up.

Thank you for answer! The fact is that I didn't knew about fees in the first place Smiley so standard fees were applied and... now I've researched this issue and realized where is the problem. So has there anyone who still waiting for their money for months already?

Another question - isn't it better to transfer other altcoins like ETH or XRP to make it faster with low fees? Basically I needed to transfer money from Polo to Bittrex and I did it with BTC... should've sold it for XRP or ETC or ETH for transfer to be faster with low fees, right?

Yes. I did it using Stellar a few days ago and was all done in under 1 minute.

Bitcoin gone to the dogs because of idiots like Danny wants people to pay more fees.

Take a hint, only miners want more fees.

I think for the next time you send bitcoin its better if your  transaction fee is high because if your transaction is very low like your said you can wait many days 1-5 days before its confirm other wait 1 week before transaction fully confirmed. I also experienced that my transaction not yet confirmed even my transaction fee is high . I think its not depends always on thr transaction fee its also depends on high priority if you are that you transaction for sure takes only 30 minutes but if you are in low priority you cannot spend your bitcoin in less than hour you need waut few hours.

hello everyone,

I have bitcoin Transaction Unconfirmed for 4 days already, has anyone experienced similar delays?

Yes.  Many people have.  It happens when you don't pay a high enough transaction fee.

I understand fee is low

Good.  So, next time make sure you pay a high enough fee.

but does that mean that I gonna have to wait months if not more than that to get my money received?

Impossible to predict.  You'll have to wait until there is either less bitcoin activity (so the fee for fast confirmation is lower), or until a generous miner or pool confirms the transaction out of the charity in their heart.

Also, you can use a transaction accelerator to increase the odds that your transaction will confirm soon.  Some accelerators are free (but more difficult to use), and others will require a payment from you.
