I don't really know if it even worth it to try to send a transaction with no fee. I've heard stories where I might take like 4 days or more for the transaction to confirm. I mean the total savings that you get $.05 USD and I know money is tight in this economy but in my opinion, it really isn't worth the savings
all very conditional, $ 5 cent not big loss if you sometime send hundreds $ , but huge, if you daytrade with small amount. Grin ( exp.: 5 cent =5% from $1)

Isn't there something called the replace by fee patch which miners can accept the transaction with more fee than the transaction with less fee? Most mining pool didn't implement that. IIRC, most miners only accept the transaction which reaches their node first and most nodes only relay transactions with inputs that aren't already in your mempool. The 1 block fee can be quite high if the network load is high. If an attacker stresses the network with high fees, your transactions will get pushed down to the bottom unless you are willing to pay a premium.

IRC, RBF could be done either as a kind of double spend (term was actually countermeasure), or a type of multisig.  In the countermeasure you broadcast a TX with higher fees to "replace" the one with lower fees.  There is some magic that has to happen on the input output balancing to make it fraud resistant.

The multisig RBF case is where you allow people to add inputs to the transaction to cover fees.  Requires a special sig bit.

CPFP seems to be implemented on Eligius pool, so if you attempt a CPFP then you have a fair chance that Eligius will pick it up whenever the win a block.

That is exactlly what happened with this transaction.  Eventually Eligius picked it up.

[89 hrs] Who has the mempool unconfirmed TX highscore? [week of Jul 5th]

I'm tempted to sweep it, but don't want to loose my high score Wink

any idea what to do except waiting or praying?

Yes... I'm thinking this might work...

Basic Idea is that you swipe the unconfirmed transaction to another address you own.  Most wallets actually have many addresses in the pool.  Anyway, when you swipe the unconfirmed transaction, you put a real juicy TX fee on your swipe TX.  Point is for a miner to claim the juicy swipe TX, they have to confirm your floating TX with it.

Basically you pay a bounty for a miner to mine your incoming transactions.  That's the BIP anyway.

I know I sound like a broken record on this, hopefully once I run some tests on testnet3 I can back it up with some code or results... Just a proposal based on theory right now.

EDIT On Bitcoin-Qt v0.10.2, when you prepare your SEND transaction, there is a button for "Choose Fee".  Default is 25 blocks for confirmation, if you max it out, it claims you will get confirmations in 1 block.

ahh, now in same shoes like OP since yesterday:) anyway, size is just 192 bytes and 0.1BTC

Nothing. Even though it is small and the outputs are of a good size, your coin age is low. The coin age resets everytime the inputs is used so your input's coin age gets low. If you want fast confirmation, use at least 0.00001 BTC as a fee.

I made a proposal to have "bounty" transactions crafted that would incentive miners to pick up someone's stale transaction.

Possibly better than re-sending and starting a "double spend" war.

now we know why the transaction can't confirmed perfect Smiley

Warning! this transaction is a double spend. You should be extremely careful when trusting any transactions to/from this sender. 91755764

Read the whole thread first please and avoid posting posts without meaning. The double spend is a result of OP spending from the same input of a transaction that was supposedly forgotten by the mempool. The new transaction is here https://blockchain.info/tx/e56440fd36d11415bb2cb6db835139a09034cbfc8eb7866fc619ba7ac149786a

done Undecided, now must wait until transaction disappeared from blockchain? and  then import p.key again?

yes thats it. you should wait for the transaction to disappear in the chain then you can import your private key again. i've done this in the past, before i realized this trick i waited for sometime like 3weeks
thanks Hexcoin  and others who helped me with this issue, finally I recover my amount, I had some problems with import p.key(full copy-paste not works, I took only part from key), and small amount 10k satoshi missing(maybe fee)becouse I sweep key to other address.

Sweep key will send all the amount in that private key's bitcoin address to your currently owned address so it will take 10k satoshi as fee

If you chose import directly you wouldn't pay for any transaction fee and you will have the control over your address again

Glad it worked out fine for you. You don't need to the fear that the seller won't send them back to you. Your resend to another address went through and was confirmed in 75 minutes!

The 0.0001 was used for fee as seen here:

yes, and new send time, Interestingly enough, at the time when transaction the gone from blockchain, amount back to wallet, or it disappears from everywhere?

When the uncomfirmed transaction disappear from your wallet history, the coins are "back" to your wallet. Technically, it never left because your transaction was not accepted by any miner.
but how to stop, that not more rebroadcaste?

i've read this somewhere in this forum, you must have a copy of your private key and list it somewhere, delete your private key in the blockchain.info account of yours and wait until the transaction gets canceled and then import again your private key
or here reliable information? maybe you have link to source? I want try, but I afraid that loss all.
You won't lose any of your Bitcoins as long as you export your private key and keep it at the safe place. I however, highly doubt that blockchain.info is rebroadcasting it. If you looked at the relayed by IP, it isn't blockchain.info who relayed it. Even if you remove your private key, if the person doesn't stop rebroadcasting your transaction, your transaction will stay there until its confirmed.
and how I can remove private key, I can't find this option.
To backup, you go to import/export and click export unencrypted. Select Bitcoin-Qt as the format and copy everything. Save it into a textfile and into  somewhere safe. If you're scared, just copy it to a piece of paper and verify 6 times you copied it correctly*. Then, go to recieve money then click the "actions" beside the address you want to remove. Click archive address. Then go to archive, select that address and click delete keys.

Do this at your own risk. I doubt if it would help but you can try.
* A single letter wrong can result in the loss of Bitcoin.
thanks you for detail info, key I have already saved, only now question I found two choice: 1.delete private key only and 2.  delete address and p. key?

This wouldn't work if anyone is constantly rebroadcasting the transaction. Different client has different behavior, for blockchain.info, they stop broadcasting after 24 hours and the transaction will be dropped out of the mempool, it is never cancelled.

Transaction fee is taken but if it is without transaction fees then it might take some time.
"some time"- pass over 48 hours and nothing Sad

Your transaction is gone from blockchain.info:
https://blockchain.info/tx/3a1657951df6fd70420f1d769cea1f3c413240fb898bbee08ea028547be4459e

But still available on 2 other blockexplorers:
http://btc.blockr.io/tx/info/3a1657951df6fd70420f1d769cea1f3c413240fb898bbee08ea028547be4459e
https://www.blocktrail.com/BTC/tx/3a1657951df6fd70420f1d769cea1f3c413240fb898bbee08ea028547be4459e

If you do not broadcast the transaction again, I think it will most likely be dropped from mempool soon. When it does, create new transaction and remember to add a fee. You said you used blockchain.info wallet to send that transaction, login in your wallet and see if the unconfirmed transaction is gone from your history.
You can still find that transaction on blockchain.info... I'm looking at it now.  It appears it was rebroadcast.
yes, and new send time, Interestingly enough, at the time when transaction  the gone from blockchain, amount back to wallet, or it disappears from everywhere?

Transaction fee is taken but if it is without transaction fees then it might take some time.
"some time"- pass over 48 hours and nothing Sad

Your transaction is gone from blockchain.info:
https://blockchain.info/tx/3a1657951df6fd70420f1d769cea1f3c413240fb898bbee08ea028547be4459e

But still available on 2 other blockexplorers:
http://btc.blockr.io/tx/info/3a1657951df6fd70420f1d769cea1f3c413240fb898bbee08ea028547be4459e

If you do not broadcast the transaction again, I think it will most likely be dropped from mempool soon. When it does, create new transaction and remember to add a fee. You said you used blockchain.info wallet to send that transaction, login in your wallet and see if the unconfirmed transaction is gone from your history.

if you send tx with zero fees then there is no fixed time it will take for confirmations
it may take hours, days or may be it will never confirmed.
always send transaction with fees to support the nextwork and miners

what you mean "never"? like never ever? Is technically possible, that TX with 0 fee will never be confirmed? I really don't think so..
You had to throw that word "technically" in there, didn't you? Tongue

Whether a transaction is included is completely up to the miner, or the pool if it is delegating work.  Technically, miners could not ever bother to confirm a transaction with no fees, since it offers no incentives to do so.  Now, if you generated that transaction from the core software, it will continually rebroadcast it.  Other wallets will at some point in time stop broadcasting it.

yeah, I had to, because humans statements "never" is little bit different than technically "never" .))

anyway, thanks for explanation...I really didn't expect that 0 fee TX may take 2 days.. Embarrassed SEPA within Europe is faster and free (at least in my bank) omg..

As a side note: This will become more of an issue as the block reward goes down and miners become more dependent on fees. I would not get into the habit of sending zero fee Tx's.

Coinbase, xapo etc don't allow you to control your own private key. If they gets shut down or hacked, you would have no way to recover your coins. [Not implying that blockchain.info is better but wallets like blockchain.info are safer etc. greenaddress.it.] Blockchain.info's fee can be specified under the custom send and you can set it to anything you want.
i know it just another way if he not want to transfer with fee, i use xapo too but only for mixing my coin
coinbase is not bad he can give me acces publick key not for private key..

I have account in xapo(not much trust, only small amount) , and long time have used coinbase, but it not always fee free and me not like interface- rounded amounts...

im use Blockchain, xapo, circle, coinbase, block.io, and some on exchanger
My main wallet is coinbase thatn blockchain, i like coinbase 2fa with sms notification for log in and for send BTC that make me feel safe from hacker because someday hacker get acces my gmail (2fa with authy chrome add ons) and i lose my balance on blockchain too

anyway your transaction need more than 24hours to get 1confirmation Wink

thanks

why u use blockchain if you not want to pay fee transaction, u an use another service like coinbase, xapo with only 0%fee (0satosi)
if you want to get less fee than blockchain u can use block.io only 1000satosi/transaction and multisign adress Smiley

thanks all for explanation, yes $0.02 0.02BTC is not big amount, but if I clicking every day btc faucet for 100 satoshi , I do not want to lose it 10k-100k satoshi for every transaction Grin, I looked wallet with min fee, and found that in  blockchain.info you can choose settings. It was my first outgoing  transaction. Smiley

With zero fee, it can take a very long time. It's not possible to lose, you can try to respend the output if it does not confirm Smiley
how respend?
You can't respend a transaction that has proporgated well over the network. If the transaction is well proporgated and every miner and node have the transaction in their mempool, the nodes will all reject the second transaction and refuse to broadcast it. After a while, the entire network will drop your transaction from the mempool and the network will "forget" your transaction. You can then spend the transaction again with a fee. For blockchain.info, it would be around 24 hours. It defers for every client since many of them continuously broadcast your transaction even when it is dropped out of the mempool.

I tried sending 0.16BTC yesterday and it was confirmed serveral hours later. It had a medium-high priority due to the coin age. You transaction has a priority of 5,921,875, (3,000,000*370)/192. The minimum priority required for a high priority is around 28,800,000. I had mine above that priority yesterday but it wasn't confirmed fast enough due to the network load. There was a stress test going on yesterday which resulted in a spike of unconfirmed transaction. The inclusion 50kb free transaction size is by the ranking of the priority. Your's may be abit lower. Include a fee next time.

That's correct, due to the blockchain stress test even the transaction which have the right amount of fee and are shown on blockexplorer as high priority are taking way more time than normal to confirm, I receieved some funds yesterday from someone and although it did had the correct fee attached, it took 3 blocks to get the 1st confirmation.

So OP yours might take a while because due to stress test all the transaction with low fee will be given much less priority. You won't lose the funds, either it will get through or the funds will get back in your wallet. And might I know whether it was a mistake or you deliberately chose to send the transaction without any fee? You shouldn't do that 0.0001 BTC by current rate is $ 0.024, which is nothing, kindly add proper fee from next time.

AFAIK transactions less than .01 and without fees will take weeks or maybe months but in your case, based on what ive read somewhere in this forum, that will get confirmation in average of 24blocks. im not quite sure why it took you 2days and until now it is unconfirmed

0.03btc is too little an amount to send feeless. The uncomfirmed transaction pool is fairly full recently, you need really high priority to get your free transaction included in blocks. There is nothing you can do now except wait, you could get lucky. You should have waited for 1 or 2 months before sending them.
