What do you think about translation campaigns? Some ICOs spend 20% of their bounty reward campaign budget in translation campaigns. Is it really worth it?
It seems to me that translating the whitepaper into a different language (probably the foreign language whitepaper won't be proof-read) is quite pointless. How many potential investors read it?
In theory there are plenty of investors that don't necessarily know English good enough.
In reality I don't know how many of them visit Bitcointalk. I expect that the people on this forum get to understand - sooner or later - English at a reasonable level. Of course, there are (very few) bigger national communities here too, but that means a very small number of translations that actually makes sense, economically. And yes, another problem is that automatic translations are still in a great number uncaught.
But no much to do. The people/companies running ICO don't necessarily know Bitcointalk. Many don't have any PR experience and many either don't hire specialists or hire ones that, again, don't know Bitcointalk. So they end up just doing like the other ICOs did.
Shortly: in theory the translations do make sense; in bitcointalk reality they usually don't and they have a good chance to be poorly auto-translated.
