Here is the question -

How much interest is in plastic cards and POS terminals?

Features:
1. Chip card cost 0.05BTC
2. POS terminal cost 0.3BTC
3. No spending limits
4. No top-up limits
5. Transaction fee 3%
6. Double account: BTC(checking), FIAT(saving)
7. BTC/FIAT conversion
8. Conversion fee 5%
9. On-line account access
9. System operates on personal server
10. Offline BTC storage
11. No ID needed
12. Free POS materials for merchants (posters, stickers, other promotion)

Hmm... interesting but the prices are high.

I have a POS sitting on my desk now that sells for $250US - so your upfront is lower.  The chip card cost is very high.  It should be around $3US.

This one doesn't have a 3% fee or a 5% conversion cost.

I think you've missed the point on what will make the "killer app" of POS systems.

For the right price I'll sell you one of my POS units and the code to make it work  Wink  For an even better price I can just sell you the whole project and retire early.

I personally feel the fees are the killer however it is a viable idea.
Perhaps an alternative model could help, I'll chuck out my top of my head ideas:

  • Sponsored till rolls
  • Higher upfront fee
  • lower fees the more you use (send under £50 pcm fee =3%, spend over £50, fee lowers to 2% etc)
  • Obtain a referral deal with an exchange

Just some ideas, good luck. I would like see this.

I'm sorry but I think the 3% transaction fee kills it.
I can get a credit card terminal for free if I agree to 3%,
Why would I pay more to accept bitcoin than I would fiat?
transaction fee is charged from the buyer not from a merchant. If it charged from a buyer I think 3% is pretty good.

So anything I buy is 3% more expensive if I pay with BTC? Or am I misunderstanding?

For .3 BTC yes that is better than coinkites drop the "conversion" fee a bit we will never take off as a currency or competitor to a credit card if you we keep taking on fees. If you help the community succeed and grow to potential the outcome will be even more beneficial and profitable.
I think I can drop the conversion fee. Fees is the thing system live on.

I understand the necessity for them i just think you can make more by having a large customer base which lower fees will bring you, But im very interested in your product so keep this thread or me updated thanks!
