agree If you got to use 1 to 16 converters get the ones that take power from the psu not the mobo

Democracy is vulnerable to a 51% attack.
My bet is that the video card drew way more power than the tiny power traces on the PCI-E header could handle and some of the power traces inside the motherboard burned out. If I'm right, it's trashed. A PCI-E x1 slot can supply a maximum of 25W (versus 75W for an x16). So using a video card with any significant capability that doesn't have external power is a *BAD* idea.

Disconnect BIOS battery and every source of power for about 5 minuts. After this time insert again battery, connect to power and try to start. If this doesn't work that motherboard is trashed.

Here is some more info about this 3 beeps:

3 short - Base 64K memory failure - A memory failure has occurred in the first 64K of RAM.  The RAM IC is probably bad

Try start it with other RAM.

Hello people,

I'm new here. My brother tried to connect a pcie x16 card into a x1, it didn't work so he shorted the two pins as explained in some forums... now the mobo doesn't boot Sad. It's a gigabyte, and it repeatdly give 3 short beeps. I've tried everything: disconnecting all the graphic cards (the mobo ships with one anyway), moving the memory stick to the other slot and even removing the memory stick, reconnecting the CPU, changing to another PSU, disconnecting the HD and everythin non-critical, reconnecting the mobo battery... nothing works, always get 3-short beeps, then another 3 short-beeps, then again and again. Is the mobo trashed? Should I send it to repair or it is not even worthy to do that because they won't accept it? I've also taken a close examination to see if any component in the mobo is burned but doesn't seem to be the case.

Thanks in advance! BTW this is my first post.
