You have to log in through beta wallet even if you have already updated the firmware.

Probably you just have to wait for a couple more days for trezor to fix the issue, they were not expecting this to happen anytime soon and since it just did they will fix it. The trezor was intended for bitcoin and some altcoins but does not support all of them yet so we will just have to wait and see.

OK, here it is the 8th Aug and I seem to have updated firmware OK but there is no BCC-BCH
wallet showing. Anybody know what is going on? I want to store a few BCH but this is making
me leery. Does the Ledger Nano have a working BitcoinCash wallet?

Yes, worst case if you don't want to wait and take the chance... you can export your BCH to an external wallet (or wait for them to fix the BCH wallet in Trezor) > https://blog.trezor.io/claim-bcash-bitcoin-cash-bch-bcc-trezor-wallet-f0a810d5864a

Great news, so it took a snapshot of my balance at the time of the fork, and thats how many i will receive as opposed to the balance currently held.

Trezor has taken the support for BCH down temporarily whilst they fix their backend.

If I havent clained my BCH as yet, if I move/sell my btc will the old balance be claimable, or only whats left in the wallet currently.

I just feel trapped in BTC as it devalues, and i'd like to claim my BCH, and buy back BTC when it has fallen more.

If BCH's 2-way replay protection is worth anything you should be able to reclaim BCH even after moving your BTC (ie. 1:1 according to the BTC balance you held on your Trezor on the time of the fork). Obviously I can't speak for the Trezor team, but at least from a technical point of view that's how it should work.
