Hey, I have Hardware wallet Trezor and I would like to ask u. I downloaded officialy mobile app - Trezor Suite Lite. Is it safe to put there my Public Key (XPUB)? There is some risk about security / privacy?

In terms of security, you are safe because it is impossible to obtain private key/s through the public key or (XPUB), therefore, even if you share them online, there is no risk to your lose your currencies.
In terms of privacy, without knowing how to hide your identity, some may be able to associate your bitcoin addresses with IP addresses and some other useful information that they may find from cookies. Just try to use a strong and reliable VPN to enhance your privacy.

Never share your wallet seed, your private key because anyone has it, will have access to your wallet and coins. If you lose your wallet seed, your private key, you lose your coins.

xPUB, what does it represent? It is for Public Key and with public key, you can not send your coin. xPUB is to import a Watch-only wallet.
Losing your public key, you will lose privacy of your wallet and transaction history but you won't lose your coins. Nobody can move your coin with a watch-only wallet.

In some cases, you might need to display the account public key (XPUB) for your Trezor account.

  • The XPUB can be used to generate watch-only wallets in third-party services.
  • A watch-only wallet allows you to observe transactions to and from a wallet, as well as the total balance, without being able to sign or send transactions.

It's just a public key and there's no problem with that broadcasting on the problem. But as it's a public key and still, I wouldn't be broadcasting it anywhere.

Someone will know that it's you with what you're doing with your transactions and if you're okay with that, then that's not really a problem. Not really a risk but someone in the public might know what your transactions coming in and out with that public key.

There is no problem to use xPub to import it to Trezor Suite Lite about security risks since it's a public key your wallet is still secured but sharing xPub have privacy risk because they can monitor all of your wallet addresses and transactions.

If you are planning to make some transactions with Trezor Suite Lite on mobile make sure that your phone is not compromised because there is a possibility if there is someone can monitor and control your phone without your consent they can make a transaction while your Trezor connected on the same device. However, since their lite version for mobile is only made for monitoring your wallet only use it to monitor your wallet addresses and transactions.

And take note this app is new and currently does not have open-source yet so we do not know how safe the app is.

I don’t really care if I send somebody my xPub, unless this was a wallet containing addresses I wouldn’t want to be linked together or my main wallet. Generally, I at least wouldn’t advise anyone to import their xPub anywhere unless it was maybe a hot wallet for quick access to small amounts of funds on mobile or something like that.

If you really don’t care, go ahead and import it. But then all your history can be linked together.

Sharing public key is not risky. If the application is from Trezor you can put your public there. But do not share the private key/key phrases with Trezor or anyone, for that you can lose your assets and risk your wallet.
The public key (XPUB) is only related to privacy, not associated with the security of the hardware wallet.
Even though sharing a public key is not risky, for the XPUB (Extended Public) Key, I suggest not sharing it publicly because other people can see all of your wallet's transaction history, and it can reduce privacy.

Download the application from the official link (https://trezor.io/learn/a/what-is-trezor-suite-lite) because many fake applications are on Google Play or the App Store.

There are a couple of things you should keep in mind:

1. Privacy: You need to understand that anyone with your xPub has access to all of your wallet's transaction history.

2. Generating an address without verifying it on the device. Read in more detail: https://trezor.io/learn/a/verifying-trezor-suite-lite-addresses

I have used Trezor Suite Lite to monitor my portfolio it has no problem with the Public Key (XPUB) as it is only for receiving not for sending.
So that's fine no bad experience, or you can see from this thread about the other answers hope it helps a bit.

Sharing the public key does not involve any risk, in fact it is also used to receive payments.  However, keep in mind never to share your private key or seed (12 or 24 words) because it is used to access the wallet and control it.  I hope it is clear as I wrote.  cheer

In as much as Trezor poses a higher questionable risk of identity vulnerability than your phrase backup to an online cloud," I think it's still highly advisable for you to avoid connecting your hardware wallet to an online wallet, which seems like a lite version of your already existing wallet. This is for you to be on the safer side and avoid being a victim of any kind of hack in case any of your gadgets are already compromised. It's just a safety precaution since you have chosen a hardware wallet, which means that you don't have to be worried about those online wallets, either web or mobile, so just maintain it, unless you want to fully go back to online wallet usage and the risks associated with it.
