I just contacted their support and asked them the derivation path they use for bitcoin.
Let's see if they will reply to my email.
Let us hope their customer care will reply your email, if not, I think this will worth another topic of discussion for new newbies to know about this wallet and avoid it totally rather than falling victims of coin loss or theft.
I forgot that I also sent an email to them on May 31st.

Hello,

What does the derivation path that Bitshied seed phrases use?

Thank you

rich12b has abandon this thread already, or maybe he will still post here later about what finally happened. But Bitshield is never a good wallet, not recommended at all. If it did not it goes back to probably a scam or just poorly written.
One can always contact the support and make up a fake story to see how they will handle it. Tell them that you have the wallet on your phone and whenever you are trying to send Bitcoin from it, the app won't let you and it just crashes. You then ask them what derivation path they use for Bitcoin, how to recover the wallet on a different device, or how to send BTC out of the wallet.

The OP has not returned, but it would be interesting to see if any of the BTC sent to their receiving addresses has moved.
Not that no movement proves anything. But if it did move, that proves it's a scam. If it did not it goes back to probably a scam or just poorly written.

But as others have said no source, no social media, no discussion of it anywhere and so on just screams scam.

Why do people use such wallets? What's the selling point of the Bitshield wallet? I don't get it.
Inexperienced crypto users unfortunately get their information from non-trustworthy sources like social media or Telegram crypto groups. Those are the places that will bombard you with information about investment opportunities, crypto software, fake mining apps, etc. They also trust the ads they see and believe they are legitimate, otherwise they wouldn't be advertised. But that's far away from the truth and brings nothing good.

I am sure you won't find Bitshield in any legitimate reviews or as a recommendation by anyone who knows even the slightest bit about Bitcoin.

Why do people use such wallets?
Some newbies just do not make appropriate research about bitcoin wallet before using one just like Bitshield which is close source and not having the standard derivation path, there are common wallets which are reputed like Electrum but also they are not using it because of lack of information. Bitcoin can be technical but better if users are exposed to appropriate information, like asking on this forum which wallet is good. Appropriate information can help people to know about the best wallet to go for instead of nonstandard ones. People should just not download any wallet they see on app store.

Bragging to use some "unique" derivation path without giving any details is a huge No-Go. Add closed source and it's indeed a big red flag and stay away from such bs.

Unfortunately it looks like you got tricked and scammed into using a fake wallet that won't give you access to your coins.
The official site has no links to social media where you could ask the community if they were lucky in recovering their coins. A manual search found nothing on Facebook, Twitter, Telegram, or Reddit.

It's a long shot, but have you contacted support asking them why you can't send your coins out of the wallet?
I doubt they will be of any help but you have nothing more to lose. Ask them what the correct derivation path is for their software.

According to https://walletscrutiny.com/android/com.bitshield.bitshieldwallet/ Bitshield wallet is closed-source and therefore cannot be verified, which is a red flag. Also, it is found to have stolen the content from Samourai Wallet website, which is a very big red flag:

Quote
On their website:

We are privacy activists who have dedicated our lives to creating the software that Silicon Valley will never build. We build the software that Bitcoin deserves.

which was taken almost word for word from Samourai Wallet‘s website.

… which leads us to wonder if the provider is also secretive about who they are and sure enough, no mention of the people behind this product.

How can it scam people if it is non-custodial? Given that this wallet is closed-source, we can't know what is happening behind the scenes. The wallet may well be maliciously "non-custodial," where it gives you a fake seed phrase and completely unrelated bitcoin addresses from which only wallet devs can spend. They claim that they use a unique derivation path for their wallet, but it also may be just a different seed. When you restore your Bitshield wallet using a fake seed you were given, the wallet secretly replaces this seed with the real one and generates the same addresses. No other wallet can reconstruct the same addresses because they don't contain this "replacement mechanism." These are just my assumptions, I could be totally wrong.

Try using "Detect existing accounts" in Electrum.
It will try various derivation paths and provide you a list if it found at least one with funds.
Of course, you'll have to tick "BIP39 seed" in the option for the seed phrase to work.

Just don't get your hopes up since BitShield's feature to restore an existing seed phrase then overwrite the one you currently using is ridiculous.
Not to mention that the app's UI will be chaotic if you do so since the previous wallet will still be available in "Recent" until you do something else.
It's either badly written, an utter scam or both.

i am having a similar issue as many with bitshield wallet it lets you recieve but not send i downloaded electrum but my bitsheild recover phrase isnt working in electrum to recover the wallet someone please help

This is the first time I've heard of this wallet, and I'm wondering why anyone is going to experiment and practically lock their funds with something that is technically unfinished, or maybe even scam. When I say scam, then I am referring to the fact that many users complain that they cannot send their funds from the wallet, and that is one big red flag.

Some of the reviews :

FUNDS STOLEN!!! I funded my wallet last night and someone managed to send them all out this morning! I didn't share pin, phone, or phrase codes with anyone! My data network was via mobile provider. I didn't access the app or download it from Wifi. Please be aware and DONT USE THIS APP! Customer service still has not emailed me back.

I received money into my wallet but I can not send it. The send page is blank and I want answers as to why it won't let me send it. I don't trust the app anymore. It must be a Russian app stealing people's money. No support to speak of and they offer no security of any kind so my funds are never secure at any point.

Like a few users who set 1-star review for the app I discovered one day that I can't send money from my wallet. You click send and you get Transaction Successful. But your balance isn't changed, there is no new transactions in activity list, and no money on another wallet. There is a way yet to get your coins back.

This Bitshield Wallet appears to be intentionally trapping people's money inside the wallet. It will allow you to receive bitcoins without any problem. But when it's time to send bitcoin away from the wallet, it just crashes. I've cleaned my phone, did a hard reset, removed the batterie, and even uninstalled and re-install the app to no avail. It's clear they did some unwelcoming change to the backend responsible for the transactions. This matter needs to be urgently looked into

It has a completely different derivational path. It is good to use a reputed wallet like Electrum. You can check this thread to know more about this:

To be careful of the noncustododial wallet we are using these days

I will advice you to use the wallet that has the standard derivation path which are m/44'/0'/0'/0/0, m/49'/0'/0'/0/0, m/84'/0'/0'/0/0 and m/86'/0'/0'/0/0. Or use Electrum wallet which is acceptable by bitcoin community.

I have checked that it seems Bitshield is using their own unknown derivation path. So, it's unlikely you get the same address if you recover it on Electrum. One of the Google Play reviews said you can recover the seed phrase using Coinbase mobile wallet, you might want to try that. If there is still no luck, another thing worth trying is to seek information about the derivation path, you can try mail their email address([email protected]).
One of the wallet that is not recommendable is Coinbase noncustododial wallet, because of these reasons:

Is Coinbase noncustododial wallet recommendable?

But, also Coinbase noncustododial wallet uses the standard derivation path for legacy and native segwit which is entirely different from Bitshield derivation path

I downloaded Bitshield and use the wallet to generate seed phrase and also check the receiving address

On Bitshield wallet
The seed phrase generated: keep february kind draw wolf name reform uphold spare absorb gloom laugh
The address: bc1qml5q9cp64ykrasyl7n76y2kpcukjvz7nfwrtqg

I imported the seed phrase generated using Bitshield wallet on Incoleman and Coinbase noncustododial wallet.

On Incoleman
bc1qa79hxd8qyz73kr77z3k06dw6xvlx28djg0m37r

On Coinbase noncustododial wallet
bc1qa79hxd8qyz73kr77z3k06dw6xvlx28djg0m37r

So, it can also not be imported on Coinbase noncustododial wallet. The seed phrase generated on Bitshield can not be imported on Electrum and neither can it be imported on BIP39 wallets that follow the standard derivation paths which are m/44'/0'/0'/0/0, m/49'/0'/0'/0/0, m/84'/0'/0'/0/0 and m/86'/0'/0'/0/0.

However, I guess the main priority would be establishing whether the seed is legitimate, and not just made up to appear like it is legitimate. They may have used their own seed generation, which is only valid for their wallet.
Their seed phrase is a valid BIP39 seed, the generated one when I try is (life impulse high village sock kind inside rose art amount bag dragon). It's likely they have their own derivation path.

Judging by the reviews on the Google play store here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bitshield.bitshieldwallet&hl=en&gl=US

Many suggest that this might actually be intentional. I can't comment on that, since I'd never even heard of it until today. However, I guess the main priority would be establishing whether the seed is legitimate, and not just made up to appear like it is legitimate. They may have used their own seed generation, which is only valid for their wallet. Obviously, don't just spurt out your seed, but look at the seed word list, maybe copy the raw text of it, and compare it with your seed offline to be safe.

Seems to be a fairly popular app on the app store, but that doesn't mean much.

No matter you try to recover the wallet on PC or Android, there is an option (button) you have to find and check BIP39 for your seed.
On Android there's a settings wheel on top of the same view where you have to enter the seed phrase.
On PC, under the box you enter the seed there's an Options button for the same reason.

Please let us know if you managed to get to your funds.
Also it may be better to not share same seed between wallets and (especially if you're on PC, since there it's easy) you better generate a new seed and transfer your funds there.
However, make sure your system is not infected, you downloaded Electrum from Electrum.org and you've verified it.

As OmegaStarScream has mentioned; when importing your seed into Electrum, on the page where you enter the seed phrase click on the "options" button and select the check box for Bip39 seed.

On the following screen it'll ask what type of wallet you have, i.e. legacy, nested segwit, or native segwit.  Receiving addresses that start with 1 are legacy; if they start with 3 they're nested segwit, and if they start with bc1 they're native segwit.  Select the option that correlates with your type of addresses.

I'm not familiar with the wallet you mentioned, but did you check the "BIP39" option after writing the seed?
