Do you believe that Erdogan will ever do it? You can see that he's just tightening the screws in Turkey. If the Kurds and get some relief only after you help to overthrow the government of this dictator.

Ever since he became the president of Turkey, he has introduced more and more anti-Kurdish policies and measures. There is no way ahead. I would like him overthrown in a coup, but it was already tried once and ended in failure.

Arming The Kurds - A Dangerous Idea

Quote
On Monday, President Trump authorized the Pentagon to provide whatever weapons necessary for the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces to defeat ISIS in Raqqa. This is not a new strategy, however. It is left-over from the Obama Administration. Will it work this time?

About time the US stopped kissing Erdogan's behind and did this. Apart from the Syrian government army, these guys are the only ones who really fight ISIS in Syria. Erdogan must be shitting bricks, the possibility of an independent Kurdistan seems more and more real every day.

ha ha ha ha ha ha

He must be spending sleepless nights, well done to this guy.

"Democracy is like a train: when we reach our destination, we leave" Erdogan.

The only option left for him is to give more autonomy to the Kurdish areas of Turkey, especially in the South-east. He must also remove the ban on the teaching and usage of the Kurdish language.

Trump need to be very careful with the arms of Rick, but tomorrow the militants. Today they can be friendly to America, but tomorrow, circumstances may change and they turn their weapons against the Americans.

Normally I'd agree seeing how the US have a hobby of creating and arming terrorist groups who later turn against them(Al-Quaeda), but I think the Kurds are more likely to turn against the Turks(actually they already have) so I'd say that's a pretty safe investment.

It will be interesting if after the war Kurds manage to negotiate the separation of Kurdistan from Syria. Such a development in either Syria or Iraq(or both) is very unwanted for Erdogan, as the creation of an independent Kurd state will most likely make the Turkish PKK even more aggressive in their campaign to separate Kurd populated areas from Turkey.
Trump probably does not really want to complicate relations with Erdogan. Turkey's control over the black sea and the Americans is not profitable to lose such a member of NATO. And what will happen if the Russians agree with Erdogan and control over the Bosphorus will be in their hands?

The Kurds can be trusted. They are fighting against militant Islam for the last many decades. They are essentially a secular fighting force. If the Islamist FSA can receive weapons from the US, then I don't see a reason why the Kurds shouldn't have them.

The sultan and other muppets from the area should better help kurds reunify and be the first to profit from it, rather than to oppose and maybe even lose it all.

Kurds have a final definite border. They don't plan to occupy china, nor engage in jihad or hijrah against the west. And as Yuri said, those warriors kurdish girls can't be bad.

Plesse tell me bad things about the kurds... happy to ear from all sides.

Irak, iran, turkey and syria kurdish part merged to create great kurdistan. Remaining irak could be well positionned to capitalize on it.

For the others... as they are the proud and arrogant types, nothing that tomahawks can't fix.

I dont know about the other countries but the Turks will never allow Kurdistan within the borders of todays Turkey. A big part of Turkish Kurds arent even interested in Kurdistan and live in harmony in Western Turkey

I think Amerikca will come back to this decision within a year

Alliance with the Turks is far more important for American intrest than defeating IS.

American influence in that region is partially dependent from the ties with Turkey

It seems to me that the Turkish Lira is falling not because of the support Trump the Kurds, and due to the fact that nobody likes what is happening now in Turkey. Erdogan reinforces his dictatorship and that investors leave Turkey. Erdogan needs to be prepared for the fact that there will be no investments and Turkey's economy will weaken.

I wonder how The Young Turks feel about this one (Youtube joke)
But I agree the Kurds need to stabilize an area they can live in peacefully and need a refuge with all the warring groups in the area.

I would respond positively. Somewhere I read that the Kurds are the largest ethnic group without their own nation. They deserve a nation of their own. If the Arabs can have two dozen nations, then why can't the Kurds have a single one?

Your country may be your worst enemy
Good. It's about time people realize Syria will never return to what it was. Come to think of it, Syria's borders were less than one century old, and those borders were invented by outsiders. It just makes sense to let the locals create theirs own countries and borders. And the Kurds certainly deserve to get their own country. They've been fighting for more than 100 years to get it.

I think that when Trump supports the Kurds not fighting with ISIS and Erdogan. In recent years, Turkey has faced in the direction of Russia. This does not mean of course that the Turks suddenly became friends with the Russian. But I think that's the way Erdogan is trying to blackmail the West.

Trump Approves Plan To Directly Arm Kurds; Turkish Lira Tumbles

WHITE HOUSE APPROVES SUPPLYING WEAPONS TO YPG FIGHTERS IN SYRIA - U.S. OFFICIAL TELL REUTERS
WEAPONS TO HELP YPG FIGHTERS IN RAQQA OFFENSIVE, NO TIMELINE DISCLOSED FOR START OF SUPPLYING ARMS

Turkey's 'sultan for life' Erdogan will not be happy. NBC News is reporting that two US defense officials have confirmed President Trump has approved a plan to arm the Syrian Kurdish militia - an important U.S. ally in Syria in the fight against ISIS.

As AP confirms, US officials say Trump administration approves providing heavier weapons to Syria's Kurds, despite "sharp objections" from Turkey.  As a reminder, YPG forces have ties to the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), which is considered a terrorist group by both the U.S. and Turkey, and yet which due to its location and ideological alignment, has long been an ally of the US. Two weeks ago, the US even went so far as to deploy troops along the Syria-US border after a Turkish airstrike killed several Kurdish fighters.
