I didn't read any of the comments but am pretty sure what the noises are, for I've heard them when I was a kid and during this past winter.

I would venture to guess that the trumpet sounds are created by the piezoelectric properties of the rocks in the earths crust creating a natural piezoelectric speaker. Earthquake lights are also theorized to be caused by piezoelectricity.

I never heard anything like that before, and assuming that it is real, I have no idea what it could be. Electrical wires and transformers makes as good a guess as any, but I never heard them make that sound before.

This is a pretty considerable explanation, yet I'll look for some videos for you that show people recording this sound in absolutely desolate places without any electricity miles away, at least it seems to be so.

I heard them when I was a kid waiting for the bus on cold winter mornings in rural Indiana. There were them tall wooden pole electrical lines with thick cables with a transformer on one of them the next house over. If the wires weren't singing, the transformer was humming. Taxing my memory, I recall both happening at the same time.

Unless the conditions are just right, I don't if one would hear such noises in the middle of the woods at least a mile away from any power lines or major power sources.

Interesting. I hadn't seen this video or videos like this before, but it does make sense that this could be caused by the transformers. Though I haven't personally heard them make this noise.

Every time I'm heard them, I've pinpointed the source to electric wires and/or transformers humming. Check out the video and others like it and you'll clearly see wires. In one scene you see an el (electric train) overhead.

I was shoveling snow at four in the morning this past winter and heard the noise coming from the wires on the poles at the road. From a distance, I heard transformers popping.
