Not only this decision will harm him, continuing lockdown regime and crashed economy as a result won't help him to be reelected either.

It will harm him, a lot. US elections are pretty much very very predictable in the sense that if economy is doing good, the incumbent president simply wins as evident from history. Economy now is crashing and Trump is worried about it and if he doesn't sympathize with the public now, he will prove himself to be a selfish person who knows only his chair.

He is saying that US wasn't meant to be shut down but dude no one predicted that this stuff will happen by the US founding fathers. What good will a person do by becoming rich if he dies? What good will it do to a great economy if kids in schools become sick and the future generation of the country stands by a cliff.

If he sympathize with the people now, he has a real chance he's gonna going to win again. And mostly, people don't even care about the election anymore, they care about their life right now as this disaster spreads.

Hopefully we can win against this war  Huh Let's pray to whichever God you believe in to protect humanity.

If you think of it politically, the decision is a risky maneuver because USA is a big player in global economy so they are trying to keep up with the upkeep of their economy with other countries, this decision will surely cause a backfire to the people they are governing, this pandemic brings the worst out of everyone so you know what happens next.

Nope not happening.  The way the op has listed his idea.

many are calling for immunity testing to see if you had it and recovered.

So if I had it and get immune tested I wont need the vaccine..

My wife and I were really really sick Dec 28 to Jan 20 for me and to Feb 10 for my wife.

I would insist on a test to see if I had it and am now immune.

This is the easiest way to start the economy.  use recovered corona -v people.

New York Governor is calling for an antibody test.

My guess is a shit ton of us have had it since Nov 1 2019.

Time for people to really wake up to what is going on. Arrested without the possibility of even seeing a judge!

DOJ Wants to Suspend Certain Constitutional Rights During Coronavirus Emergency

While the asks from the Department of Justice will likely not come to fruition with a Democratic-controlled House of Representatives, they demonstrate how much this White House has a frightening disregard for rights enumerated in the Constitution.

The DOJ has requested that Congress allow any chief judge of a district court to pause court proceedings "whenever the district court is fully or partially closed by virtue of any natural disaster, civil disobedience, or other emergency situation," according to draft language obtained by Politico. This would be applicable to "any statutes or rules of procedure otherwise affecting pre-arrest, post-arrest, pre-trial, trial, and post-trial procedures in criminal and juvenile proceedings and all civil processes and proceedings." They justify this by saying currently judges can pause judicial proceedings in an emergency, but that new legislation would allow them to apply it "in a consistent manner."

But the Constitution grants citizens habeas corpus, which gives arrestees the right to appear in front of a judge and ask to be released before trial. Enacting legislation like the DOJ wants would essentially suspend habeas corpus indefinitely until the emergency ended. Further, DOJ asked Congress to suspend the statute of limitations on criminal investigations and civil proceedings during the emergency until a year after it ended.

Norman L. Reimer, executive director of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, told Politico the measure was "terrifying," saying, "Not only would it be a violation of [habeas corpus], but it says 'affecting pre-arrest.' So that means you could be arrested and never brought before a judge until they decide that the emergency or the civil disobedience is over. I find it absolutely terrifying. Especially in a time of emergency, we should be very careful about granting new powers to the government."

Cool

judges can be shity too and decide against you, muslims also use judges. btw.

But USA judges are the jury. Of course you don't have to require the jury. And of course the jury can find you guilty. But you don't have to be judged by one person in America.

The problem is with removing both judges and jury... at least for a time. That's what the article is about. Any joker attempting this should be executed for treason.

Our only chance is a good vaccine before the virus evolves to fight it.

and who will produce/distribute and get it?

only chance is simply life with those diseases, like they are a part of life, like africans life with relatives dying to poisonous snakes, hippos crocs and lions.

I know I wouldn’t get it. Especially when there are users on this forum claiming vaccines are safe who have all sorts of health issues.

If you have seen my posts here then you’ll know that I’m an avid Trump supporter, and have been rooting for him to win a second term but now I feel that his decision to open US economy so soon will hurt his chances of winning the elections.

He's a businessman, not a politician.

He has done so many things that should hurt his chances ("grab em by the pussy!"), but the economy keeps going up and people take the bad with the good.

History shows us that opening up for business as usual too soon will re-introduce another epidemic.   And if country borders stay closed, local viruses would mutate which will cause multiple pandemics whenever the borders re-open.  Even years from now...

At the end of the day he knows that if the economy is up by the time the election comes around, and he can prove that the Trump effect is real, then he'll probable be able to win reelection handily. If it's not, then he will lose. That's one of the things that his supporters and moderates alike have been able to point to about Trump -- the economy has flourished under him. If that's bullshit or not regarding if Trump is the reason for it is up to debate, but if the people think it's the case then he's golden.

This is a way to calm financial markets and to calm people. I don't agree with it, but I see why it's happening.

Further I’m sympathetic to his beliefs too that US economy will completely crash if the lockdown persists for few months, but I just wished that he could have prioritise human life’s over profits. What are your thoughts on this will this decision backfire on Trump, and will this lead to his defeat in the upcoming US elections.
