So I'm sure this is covered, but I'm just not finding it.

I gave a user negative trust for attempting to send another user an infected file.  There are screenshots etc. showing proof that they did this.

As retribution, I assume, this user came back & tagged me with negative trust and said that I stole BTC in the form.  I've never had dealings w/ them, and I want this removed, as I have done nothing wrong, and there is absolutely no good reason for me to have a negative trust rating.

What can I do here?  Am I simply screwed?
As other guy said your minus trust doesn't show up to us, however - the bad part about that is that his trust rating won't show up either. The system is a bit flawed imo, but that said I can't think of a better way to do it.

It won't matter, yes, this kind of thing happens all the time, most intelligent people are going to look at the user, look at all the evidence laid out against them and just ignore them, I wouldn't worry too much about it, the fact that someone is trying to attack you just proves your evidence against them.

Unless you are trusted by some well-trusted members, your trust feedback has almost no impact lol.

That's the best you can do really. If you want to eradicate spam and scams you have to be willing to take the retribution trust ratings when you give then a neg. I suppose it ore with the job really. Keep up the effort though, eventually someone will recognise your effort of the default trust network and give you a positive rep which most people will see to more than balance your negs.

I try to call out scammers.  Take at a look at the negative trust on my account!   Grin

Feedback doesn't really matter if it's from plebs who aren't on the trusted list, especially when there's no reference thread to back up their outlandish and (usually) false claims.

As long as it doesn't affect your overall trust rating you shouldn't be too concerned given the fact that most people will have a look as to the origin of your negative trust and see the issue. You won't be able to get the trust removed, only the person who have you the trust can remove it (and for obvious partiality issues). So yeah, sorry about that, but don't be too discouraged, negative trusts really are unimportant so long as nobody has them in their trust network.

That's what I figured.  It's just frustrating because I always try to do the right thing, and I'm always trying to help out here by pointing out obvious scams, reporting posts that need reported (spam, blatant rule violations, etc), and I would hope that people would see that instead of some random jerk who's upset I called him out on his scam

Nothing. When one reads your Trust, they should evaluate the source of any negatives. I have a few but they really mean nothing in the scheme of things. Spite Trust will happen.

I see this when I look at your Trust:
Trust:    0: -0 / +0(0)

Only when I click on Untrusted feedback do I see the negative.

Well that's comforting....I'm pretty sure this guy is never going to be in anyone important's trust circle.

Thanks Smiley
