Trying to bitcoins...confused.

Just be sure you don't accidentally the bitcoins.

Yeah, I hear it's dangerous.

This can easily be avoided by following the proper precautions. Simply the bitcoins.

Hello ele,

As it seems you have already discovered, the absolutely fastest, cheapest, and most secure for a new guy (with a U.S. checking account) to get Bitcoins in your wallet is:

1.) sign up for Chase Quickpay (or Popmoney is another good option too)
2.) post a bid in #bitcoin-otc offering to buy BTCs with Quickpay
3.) buy from a trusted member of the OTC trading community, and watch your new Bitcoins pop up in your wallet in a matter of minutes!

Glad I could help.   Grin

A friend of mine wants to accept bitcoins in his shop and asked me to set up a bitcoin account to make a purchase. It looks like there are a lot of steps involved in getting bitcoins:

*make dwolla account
*add bank
*wait for verification
*verify bank
*wait to add money
*transfer dwolla money to mt gox
*use mt gox to get bitcoins

Is this really the easiest way to get bitcoins? It looks like it will take quite a while. Is there someone on here who would accept money on paypal from me and then send bitcoins my account?

Yes, it's really hard, I agree. Thanks for taking the time and welcome to our little community.

If you have ideas on how to make things easier, please share that with us on http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=8623.msg125174

of course not.
the easiest way would be, to find someone who has bitcoins, and wants whatever you have to offer, may it be goods, services, or another currency.

Right. I meant to say, if you didn't have paypal nor dwolla. And if you can figure out paypal, you can figure out dwolla.

If you were to replace "dwolla" with "paypal" in those steps, what would be the difference? Dwolla has the same steps of adding money to an account as paypal does, unless you use a credit card, which has more steps and more risk in terms of chargebacks.

The difference is that he probably already has a Paypal account.

If the amount does not matter, you can get 0.02 free coins from the faucet.
