when i say only works when you tap it, i mean if you tap it, you can hear a tapping noise through the radio..but nothing is picked up through the microphone which is the problem.

"only works when you tap it?"

Sounds like a cold or dry joint to me... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Cold_solder_joint2.jpg

Fairly easy to resolve, just see if you can spot the problem joint and re-solder it.

Bitcoin / Crypto mining Hardware.
Looks like the instructions need to be bought from the store.

Is the transistor a FET ? those are a bit difficult to debug. what voltage are you supplying? how did u tune the output frequency?

RIP Mommy
Have you tuned your radio all across the FM band while playing a constant tone into the transmitter input so you know when you land on the center of the transmit freq? It's possible the transmitter is just splattering all over the band, or what some call desense. If a transmitter is close enough to the receiver, it doesn't matter what freq the transmitter is on, the receiver will be overpowered by the signal strength.
