Mendoza has become like a punching bag in this fight. Both fighters aren't particularly quick, even Tszyu, who appears slow and doesn't throw many jabs, but his timing is excellent, which is why Mendoza got badly hurt. This kind of fight is interesting to watch, and I'm sure it entertained the fans, especially since their home fighter won the match. With Tszyu's success, I think he needs a better opponent next time; he's due for that, I guess.

Based on his interview after the fight he is due to fight Jermell Charlo, Jermell will try to regain his title although there is still o official announcement but it is likely to be announced, this is going to be a very good match Tszyu will have to prove by beating Jermell that he deserves his title that was given after Jermell fought Canelo.

And it seems they are already trash-talking each other so it's going to be a fight worth watching, they are almost even in terms of power and skill only that Jermell has a better experience but they have a common denominator and that is both fighters beat Tony Harrison.

It's shaping up to be an interesting match. After Jermell got exposed in his fight against Canelo and lost, I'm sure Tszyu's confidence is soaring. Tszyu's performances haven't exactly been stellar either, but when facing off against Jermell, there's a chance he could win the fight. I'm quite curious about the potential betting odds. Will Jermell be the favorite, or will Tszyu take that title?

And if this fight happens, would it be a unification match or an undisputed one?

I think it will be undisputed as Charlo still have the 3 belts as this governing bodies didn't stripped of his belt unlike the WBO when Charlo goes up to 168 lbs and challenge Canelo.

And it was originally schedule that Tszyu and Charlo meet in June for the undisputed 154 lbs. Charlo got injured and then Tim goes out to fight and make him busy becomes interim champion and now regular WBO champion.

So it make sense that they should fight next, for Charlo to get back his title and then for Tszyu to solidify his status as the champion at 154 lbs.

Tszyu got off to a slow start but once he let his hands go he was able to dominate with his power. Mendoza has a head made of granite to be able to take that punishment. Tim might not be as talented as his father but he is a solid champion. His pressure style would be a problem for Charlo if he decides to go back down to reclaim his title.

Yes, and that's why Mendoza is dominating early with quick footwork, avoiding Tim's best punches. But once Tim got his rhythm and letting his hands go, he hit Mendoza a lot and there's no upset or something. Mendoza though on his part was able to survived this fight because he has a good chin.

But if this is fighters that can be break down mentality, for sure Tim will score a knockout, just like what he did against Harrison in their fight. I like his pressure and if him and Charlo faces, we will see how Charlo will react because it seems that he doesn't have pressure fighter. But I do believed that Charlo has more power than Tim at 154 lbs.

Tim Tszyu decisively won the fight with a unanimous decision 116-111, 116-112, 117-111, Mendoza out a gallant fight but those uppercuts and straight punches by Tzsyu were just hard to avoid so many of these punches hit Mendoza in the eyes and the head, I thought the fight will be stopped because of the big cut on Mendoza, but he was allowed to continue, although Mendoza showed aggressiveness in the latter rounds it was just too late.

Congratulation to Tzsyu he is now heading to Las Vegas for a Charlo fight

I thought that I bet on Mendoza has some chances, hehehe, he really did good up to the 5th round though. And then Tim took over from round 6 and I thought that he is going to be the first man to knockout Mendoza.

But kudos to him for a valiant fight, he had a good strategy early to run circles and pot shot Tszyu. But Tim stayed with his game plan and then in the middle rounds, it was clear that Mendoza is fading out and Tim just continue to go and pounce him with upper cut and good combination.

So maybe after this win, Jermell will be ready next year so that we will see them fight for the undisputed belt at 154 lbs.

Hmm, I might go with Mendoza here, just to have fun watching the fight and the odds are still very good as he is the underdog. I know that Tim is very tough and hard to beat in his hometown, but he shouldn't slept on Mendoza and be over confident and Mendoza has the power to knock him out with just one punch.

Again, this will be my bet and hopefully I can watch this fight live either from someone who is going to share links here.

Or just go with our favorite free streaming, which is Facebook as there could be boxing fans as well that is going to stream it live.

I'm sure someone will drop a stream on Facebook although it is not a very popular fight many are following Tsyzu, Tsyzu has a concern the referee of the fight happens to be the same referee that officiated the Pacquiao - Horn fight, Tzsyu doesn't want this fight to be controversial just like what happened to the Pacquiao - horn fight

Quote
Tim Tszyu’s team have expressed concern over how Sunday’s WBO world title bout will be officiated after a “bizarre” run of events have culminated with the appointment of Mark Nelson – the same referee who oversaw Jeff Horn’s incredible upset of Manny Pacquiao.

We don’t want another Pacquiao-Horn controversy’: Team Tszyu’s fears over ‘bizarre’ ref pick

We hope this will not be as controversial just like what happened to Pacquiao, Tszyu doesn't want that to happen he has a reputation to protect.

It's good that Tim is calling out this early, I mean it everything turns out to be like the Horn vs Manny fight, at least he has warn everyone about the referee. However, if he wanted to have no controversy, then what he needs to do is to stop Mendoza with a knockout and not let the judges score the fight as it might look biased again if he won.

Hopefully though the referee is well aware of his actions from the Pacquiao fight and will not let the same mistakes again.

I haven't check Youtube though, but hopefully some dude from Australia will stream it for us boxing fans.

^ That is a very attractive odds for a underdog. I'm convinced that Mendoza could be very well a live underdog here so it's a big surprised that the book makers are listing him at 5:1 here. The fight could even go to the judges scorecard if Tim can't knockout Mendoza here.

And that's where the story of a decision that could be biased to Tim, as one is from Australia already and the two other judges have score the fight in favor of Tim against Harrison in Australia. But nevertheless, I wouldn't look at it from that perspective, Tim should really look for a knockout so that there will be no doubts that he won the fight and that he is the established WBO champion unless Charlo makes a comeback next year.

That's one of the reasons Tszyu is the favorite here, aside from being the champion. He's not known as a KO artist, so we're likely to see a toe-to-toe battle that might end up on the judges' scorecards. Now, what Mendoza needs to do is crucial – he has to secure a win, and that's most likely to happen through a KO.

He can't afford to just think about winning on points; that's a surefire way to lose, especially since he's the away fighter. It's imperative that he doesn't leave room for doubt. He needs to fight convincingly so that the result can't be questioned or manipulated.

For those who are interested on who will be the judge as we might be talking some home town decision, the judges are:

(a) Australia (Adam Height)
(b) Hungary (Zoltan Enyedi)
(c) Japan (Katsuhiko Nakamura)

Judges Enyedi and Nakamura has worked or scored Tim's previous fight against Harrison. While Australian Height hasn't scored any fight of Tim.

The third person in the ring will be the familiar US referee - Kenny Bayless.

Latest odds put Mendoza by a huge 5:1 underdog.

So for those who think that Mendoza has a shot against Tim Tszyu, this is the right time to bet on him as the odds are very attractive.

Tim Tszyu is the defending champion and will be fighting in his own backyard. Both fighters have a similar level of competition but Tszyu is undefeated. They each have a similar knockout percentage. It looks like an evenly matched fight but Tszyu is the more talented fighter and I expect him to get the win. With Charlo still holding the other three belts, it would be logical to see him face the winner.
It kind of depends on the quality of the opponent, you know? Tszyu's taken on some tough fighters before becoming champ. But who can say for sure? Mendoza's still a quality fighter. And if you check out the odds set by the bookies, it's pretty clear that Tszyu's the big favorite here. I mean, as a heavy favorite, those odds aren't all that attractive anymore, right?

I'm not entirely sure. When we look at the quality of opponents for both fighters, they've both faced some good ones. But it might just come down to personal judgment, like they say, 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder.' It's not directly related, but it's kinda like how we all interpret things differently, so we might not necessarily agree.

Now, speaking of heavy favorites, it's pretty obvious that Tszyu is the one in this case. However, that doesn't automatically guarantee his victory. Remember, odds can be deceiving. Sometimes they're overvalued, and that's exactly why the public can easily fall into the trap.

While Tszyu may not be known as a knockout artist, I have to admit, his style isn't as thrilling to watch as boxers like Tank Davis and Crawford. However, in this matchup, it's pretty clear that he holds the advantage over Mendoza. That's not to say Mendoza lacks capability, though. This is just my personal perspective, and I'm backing up my opinion with a bet. I'm taking a bit of a risk here since Mendoza tends to engage in toe-to-toe battles, but my bet is on Tszyu winning by KO/TKO.

He is what we call a slugger, but not naturally a knockout artist, like Tank Davis or Crawford. He will have to work very hard and try to outslugged his opponent, in a hard and grind fight that's why I would say that Mendoza is tailor made for Tim here and it will show his talent. But he shouldn't underestimate Mendoza as well, he could be very well ready on what Tim will give him in this fight. So mental preparation is already very important here. Charlo even predicted that Tim will win and by knockout, but eventually this is what the fans are wanting to see, Charlo that lost to Canelo going back to claim the WBO belt as he was stripped already. However, WBC doesn't follow what the WBO did here, so Charlo still has the belt and so if Tszyu wins here, definitely the fans are going to clamour for them to fight each other. After all, Tim is the mandatory challenger for Charlo and they were supposed to fight a couple months back.

With 17 KOs in 23 wins, that's a solid 74% KO rate, rounded up. So, I'd say he's definitely a KO artist. Plus, if you check out his last two fights, both ended in knockouts.

Now, when it comes to Mendoza, he can also fit the KO artist category, with 16 KOs in 22 wins. It seems like Mendoza might not pose a significant threat to Tszyu. After all, Tszyu's got some serious boxing skills, and you can clearly see his ring IQ in action. He's the kind of fighter who believes he doesn't have to win by KO every time; what matters most is getting that win.

And since the fight is to be o his hometown Australia again, it can boost his confidence to really perform to his fans just like what he did against Tony Harrison. Hopefully though there will be no home decision if the fight is close and gets to the judges score card as it is still fresh on how Jeff Horn won over Manny Pacquiao when others saw that the legendary Pacman won that fight.
Tszyu is not Jeff Horn he is way better than Horn he will not let his fans down and he will perform better than Horn, Mendoza is not Manny Pacquiao I don't think he can match up with Tszyu's speed and power.

I'm not comparing the fighter itself, my comparison is how Pacman got robbed because he is fighting on the Australian soil. And I guess majority will agree that it was clearly a robbery. In any case, if Tim is really that good then we don't have to worry about the robbery (or is it?).

Mendoza has beaten Fundora but he just got lucky to catch Fundora with those combinations, Tszyu will be more prepared for this fight he cannot relax in this fight because he is Australia's best hope in the boxing world.
Brian Mendoza may be good but Tszyu has enough power and motivation to beat Mendoza and move on to conquer more titles.

I think Tim is just about to hit his prime and obviously very motivated to win against Mendoza in front of his fans. And I do like Tim's attitude though, I mean he wants to be the next great Australian boxer like his father but making his own name at 154 lbs. Hopefully though, if ever he beats Mendoza, Jermell Charlo will give Tim his deserved shot at the other belts he held, although not sure if the other organizations has stripped him of his other super welterweight belt.

It's official, we've got a big fight coming up this month. Tim Tszyu currently boasts a clean record with 23 wins (17 by KO). Do you think Mendoza is strong enough to beat the current champion?

I remember Brian knocking out Fundora he exposed Fundora in that fight, Fundora was a nightmare on all his opponents 6 foot 6, with a very reach, power puncher he was a promising star and on his way to greatness until Brian stopped the train and put the light out of him, if Brian can do this to Fundora why not on Tszyu.

I'm sure Tszyu knows what Mendoza is capable of doing in the ring so he should go fully prepared, this is going to be a slugfest as both fighters love to move forward and don't care to get it hit as long as they can get a hit, I've bookmarked the date I have this 50/50 but Tszyu has a slight advantage.

Well, you know, bookies might see it differently. They could make Tszyu a big favorite, but that's kinda expected, right? He's the champ, and he's fighting in his home country. Honestly, I don't know much about Mendoza as a boxer, but your post has piqued my curiosity. I might just check out how he managed to win against Fundora. Until then, I'll hold off on casting my vote.

Here's hoping this is just a warm-up for Tszyu before he faces off against a tougher opponent, someone who's a real champ. Not like Jeff Horn, who got a lot of hype but, in reality, got outboxed pretty easily in the ring. My vote's going to Tszyu on this one – that makes it 3-1 now.

I agree that this is only a warm-up because you cannot just rush to fight every difficult boxer in your weight division since you have the belt and you just simply wait for challengers because they would come to you and get the belt from you. it seems to me that this is an easy money and easy fight for Tszyu as well because he is not fighting against a hard puncher nor a knockout artist, all he needs to do is keep his stamina efficient throughout the rounds and avoid some power punches as much as possible and always counter it with some solid punches. that would be easy for him and will earn himself another easy win.

Mendoza can bring a great fight but it will not be easy beating Tszyu especially he’s the title holder.
What he can do is to improve more and be more confident just like on his previous match on a knocked out win. Though I don’t think Mendoza can knock out Tszyu and maybe Tszyu can bring a big game on this and will win via knock out, that is what more exciting here and as expected Tszyu is still the favorite here.

I'm not so sure if Mendoza has what it takes to beat Tszyu, especially when you look at his record – he's got 2 losses under his belt already. Seems like he's just an ordinary fighter, the kind Tszyu could probably handle pretty easily. But you know, you guys are spot on – Tszyu shouldn't get too cocky here, even though he's fighting in front of his fans. 'Cause, as they say, anything can happen in boxing.

Yeah, probably this is just a cherry pick fight for Tim Tszyu and to show his best attributes and tools and beat Mendoza easy. I mean Tim is already tough, good solid puncher, can take punch as well, has the stamina to last full 12 rounds and his fundamentals and technicals are not that bad.

Mendoza is also a decent boxer, not mediocre, on any given night might pull some upset win.

But I guess Tim is ready here and obviously wanted to face Charlo next. So mostly this is a tune up for Tim again as he is waiting for Jermell Charlo for a long time and after Mell's lost to Canelo for sure he will go back to 154 lbs and claim his belt again.

I guess it's about time that Tim Tszyu to have a fight since he was relegated to full WBO champion at 154 lbs since he should be fighting Jermell Charlo. But obviously, Jermell opted to fight Canelo and for more money. It's supposedly Charlo defending his belt against Tim and then Charlo got hand injuries and so the scheduled fight has been postponed for a long time and it's good as I have said that he is now a full champion not just a interim belt holder.

Haha, that time Pacman got robbed in Australia is like a page in the history books, and people are never gonna forget it. I mean, there are only a handful of boxers who managed to beat Pacman during his prime. From what I remember, it's just Marquez, Mayweather, and Erik Morales – those were legit defeats. He did lose to Bradley, but that one was kinda controversial in my book, although Manny did manage to redeem himself in the rematch.

Now, as for this upcoming fight, I think I'm gonna be rooting for Tszyu to take the win. Not just 'cause he's fighting in his home turf, but because I genuinely think he's the better fighter. It's kinda like the opposite of the Pacman vs. Horn fight we always bring up.

And since the fight is to be on his hometown Australia again, it can boost his confidence to really perform to his fans just like what he did against Tony Harrison. Hopefully though there will be no home decision if the fight is close and gets to the judges score card as it still fresh on how Jeff Horn won over Manny Pacquiao when others saw that the legendary Pacman won that fight clearly.

It's official, we've got a big fight coming up this month. Tim Tszyu currently boasts a clean record with 23 wins (17 by KO). Do you think Mendoza is strong enough to beat the current champion?

He is capable of beating Tszyu remember he is the one who handed Fundora his first by technical knockout, Mendoza has fast hands good movement in the ring, and packs power on both hands, this is not an easy fight for Tszyu and this could be his biggest challenge to date/

But I'm pretty sure Tszyu can handle the pressure here and will eventually win by a split decision he is more technical and more powerful between the two, this is an exciting fight and should not be missed.
