Trust me…if you need a tutorial to setup a forum…you’re gonna have a rough time keeping that forum alive.

Nice community service from the OP, nevertheless!

@lovewiki : See Bitcoin-Abe [1]. Just search how to make block explorer site:bitcointalk.org in Google search to find relevant discussion on tjis forum. Good luck! Wink

Thanks MZ and appreciate your reply  Wink... but I'm looking for a detailed step-by-step tutorial including how to compile the explorer on the host and how to load the blockchain there etc. I can't find these detailed information either from Google search or the relevant thread you mentioned.

That's a very useful information, but SMF is a little complicated and I will look for other ways. OP  Smiley

I should also point out that terms of service for many webhosts are extremely vague and mean you can get banned for just about anything. So if you intend to make a 4chan or Bitcointalk where you can write about almost anything you want then one way or another you will need to fork out money for it.

For instance there are websites that get taken down by DMCA notices despite having absolutely nothing to do with filesharing because political opponents and the like take issue with what their posting and decide they've had enough.

I would recommend finding a fairly liberal minded VPS or Dedicated Server host if you need to host content that would piss off a certain group of people quite a bit. Normal posting should be fine on shared webhosts like this but you'll need to restrict a lot of things.

Cheers!

Your hard work on this tutorial? LOL.  More like your hard work sucking dick to get money

Don't comment without knowing what it is. This forum is using SMF and is okay but not good enough. Its not his. He just made a tutorial to help users who want to create a forum without spending money on it or don't know how to. I am not surprised to see your post as trollers keep trolling. Roll Eyes Undecided

Thanks and appreciate your hard work.

I also see that you've made another tutorial for faucet too... Now I'm searching for a detailed tutorial to set up a blockchain explorer (for bitcoin or any altcoin). Do you know how to make one?

Thanks again.  Wink

There is a much more proper way to do this. The methods shown by OP is likely the most economical (pretty much free) way of doing it.

A better way to do it is to get a proper web host, preferrably a VPS so you have more control. A good host/server is critical if you want to run a successful forum or website, or even an online business. I don't think SMF is that bad considering it's free but I personally prefer vbulletin or xenforo, both are not free options. Another free option is phpBB but I haven't been keeping up with them, and personally have been seeing less and less phpBB based forums.

SimpleMachinesForum is probably the WORST forum software out there. There are multiple good ones, like MyBB, IP.Board, Xenforo, phpBB, and alot of others.

Do NOT use SMF, it's a piece of shit

Also that hosting site you inked puts popup ads on your site that you don't get paid for
