getting addicted to tools or tweaks like this actually puts your privacy at risk indirectly.
It is directly affecting your Privacy.  Hell!  Think about it.  You talk about oranges and they pop up on your YouTube ads all of a sudden.  It is not a rumor any more, Google is listening and reading every thing it can, analyzing it and trying to use it to the financial advantage of Google.

Forum members would prefer it more if you had provided a safer means of doing this on a spreadsheet rather than making use of google.
It is up to each and every one of us whether we want to maintain a high level of Privacy and Security and if some body chooses not to then so be it.  I find Apps that promise to help you track your Cryptocurrency Investment Portfolio very weird and sketchy however.  I would not trust one such App unless it is entirely Open Source and legitimately audited.

OP should not care about what we prefer or not.  OP should care about their own Privacy and safety.

I recently came across some posts that were educating on use of google authenticators which most people think Is safe.
I prefer Authy and other Open Source alternatives.  Google Authenticator is a nightmare for me.  No backups, owned by Google and more.  No thank you, I rather have no 2FA.

Nice post though op.but using a live chart like coin market cap will do besides there will be no sharing of private data with a third party.
Not sure what you meant to say here.  If you meant to say Coin Market Cap will not share private data with Third Parties, you are wrong.

Keep in mind this is not good practice for your Privacy.  Since you are working with Evil Google, they can always process your Spreadsheet information and analyze it.  It means Google can become aware of how much you hold, the Cryptocurrencies you are interested in et cetera.

It is very comfortable to quickly open their website and start working, but it is counterproductive in regards to Privacy.
Just like Privacy G mentioned,  relying so much on Google and Their tools is not a good practice. multiple threads have been created concerning privacy which is very important and getting addicted to tools or tweaks like this actually puts your privacy at risk indirectly.

Yes thats right. Been using coingecko tracking app and it does really have limited features but thats bearable if you only want to see your ports value. But the spreadsheet made by own is powerful as its really accurate plus the market feed which you can also customize the way you wanted it.
There are ready-made templates for those who do not have experience, and you can ask someone who has knowledge of Paxel about how to customize it to what suits you.  you do not need to be a professional. The interface may not be beautiful and it cannot be customized easily with a single click, as in Portfolio-Tracking, but it is generally better and free, and you can add features that is not found in these applications.

Portfolio-Tracking applications are usually full of ads and you cannot add or modify their features, so you are limited to what they offer, while you can customize your experience in the spreadsheet and use open source codes to build something professional.

I found some templates and codes on GitHub that make your experience better. You can download the template and modify the features in it.

I appreciate your effort and the purpose of this thread, and I have no intention to derail it, but isn't there a more efficient way to track our portfolio than using spreadsheet? There are price tracking apps that integrate themselves with rate of certain exchange or to global rate, like BlockFolio... before it got rebranded and met is ultimate fiasco. They also come with feature that give us periodic notification when the token we watch increases or decreases on certain percentage that we can set.

I barely check the one on my phone because I currently only keep my eyes on selected few tokens and I track their price through an exchange so I can know the exact rate of my portfolio, but I am aware that Delta [the one I installed] alert me every time ETH or BTC jumped or dropped certain level.

And then there's TrustWallet that also give us the rough estimate of the total fund we have in our wallet.

It doesn't support the price of many cryptocurrencies. It's limited to very few cryptocurrencies I guess; BTC, ETH, LTC & a few more. I tried this earlier to keep track of my portfolio performance but due to limitations, I couldn't use it as I had few altcoins as well (small investment though LOL). I tried another method as well but unfortunately, I failed to fetch data in the spreadsheet. I'm using coinmarketcap for now.

The image doesn't look good at all. You can bold the text so it gets more visible.

Hello everyone, hope everyone doing good.
Actually, my main purpose of creating this topic is that we who are involved in cryptocurrency-related work often need to know the live price of cryptocurrency on Google Spreadsheet, the purpose of this thread is to show some basic methods to them so that they can set live prices in the spreadsheet.

Some basic method
Just copy those code and paste on shell
For BTC
Code:
=GOOGLEFINANCE("CURRENCY:BTCUSD")
