Slava Ukraini!
You made a great guide, but it does not relate to account recovery procedure in the forum. I still don't know the purpose of secure, and prove ownership of Ethereum address in the forum, if you simply want to prove it for use cases outside the forum space.
Anyway, I thank you for this great guide for community.
You're right, signed message from ETH or any other altcoin address isn't accepted for account recoveries here. Probably because it's BITCOIN forum.
But still, this guide is very useful. For example, signing message from ETH address will help you to verify that you hold funds. This stuff can be used if you are dealing with escrow or lending money.

Do the admins accept signed ETH messages as proof of ownership of BT accounts? I think they only accept signed BTC messages, anyone knows?
No, because they only accept bitcoin signed messages. This thread isn't made for that reason like a proof of ownership on lost bitcointalk accounts but it's a proof of ownership of your ERC20 wallet address. I just want to defend this thread of mine about  signing of message.

Please consider using width option for this one as well as rest images in the OP to resize them all a bit smaller. Personally, the width=300 is acceptable, which will makes your whole OP looks better.

You can only apply for the recovery of a lost account if you have signed a message from the BTC address. More information about account recovery can be found here https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/recovering-hackedlost-accounts-5089777
Yes it is.  Only Bitcoin signed messages that are verified and quoted here will be accepted for recovering lost account. Stake your Bitcoin address here. If you don't have a staked bitcoin address their then hurry up so that you have the right to recover your account when it's lost or hacked.

For some other moderators, signed messages from altcoin addresses can be used as proof of ownership if you get in unexpeted trouble that needs to freeze the account, so you can un-lock it.

As far as forum-specific issues go, it would be far better to assume that only signed BTC addresses are accepted. There's no need to roll the dice on signed altcoin messages as there will always be a chance that they won't be honored. This is a Bitcoin forum after all.

it is not just about this being a "Bitcoin forum", the problem is the lack of a trusted wallet to do the signing and verifying of signatures and also whether the person verifying has that wallet installed. otherwise the processes are the same. bitcoin uses secp256k1 curve while ethereum uses secp256r1 curve with only different constants but same size signature and same EC calculations.

No, admins only accept signed messages from staked btc address as mentioned in this thread. Theymos and Cyrus are the only charged to do so. Newbies must learn this on how to sign a message to keep their wallet address safe and also for recovery as you mention. I'll help bumping this thread for newbies to learn and be secured and have a recovery option.
Signing of message is very important especially for an evidence of ownership of the address.
