By looking at the comments and reviews above, I also feel that what we do in the crypto world business should follow safe choices and many businesses are put on. The downside of medsos applications is that our personal data belongs to the company. In contrast to the blockchain system through DeFi that is currently popular. Hope we can be successful and safe in doing business, then be good at choosing the media business itself.

Tried Twetch out once, out of curiosity. I mean, I tried to try it out.. until I found out you have to pay money to post anything on there, hoping to get it back from others who engage with your stuff. And apparently, that isn't enough:

There is a one-time cost of $9.99 to access the feature, but once you have purchased the app, you do not have any further costs.
Source: https://www.zdnet.com/google-amp/article/blockchain-based-twitter-competitor-twetch-releases-encrypted-chat-app/

How private and encrypted is it if there's an one-time cost? Is it even open source, knowing that you don't get the app without paying for it? The fact that private keys are used to have a private chat is even more worrying..

The fact that Twetch exists makes the entire Wright argument even funnier. He hasn't only copied Bitcoin - the community is going for larger names as well. Wouldn't be surprised if some Fecebook is under development in their community.. This entire SV thing is all about copying.

These comments from this Reddit thread about Twetch are worth a little laugh.

This ^

...snip...

Is very interesting to see that Twetch now is a more advanced Twitter since it's on blockchain, this beta version is promising Cool all messages are encrypted via AES and ECIES, - each Twetch action is immortalised as an onchain message. Thus Twetch stands out from Twitter with its micropayments interactions created value added, this concept is unique on a stable protocol.

...snip...

Twetch is a perfect example of; BSV developers literally building castles in someone else's sandbox ...

Immortalized (immutable data) on a blockchain is going to be a legal problem for BSV and for Twetch ...

See for example: EU - Data Protection Directive
- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Data_Protection_Directive

Welcome to law!

Furthermore, if you have to pay to speak and/or be incentivized to be heard then that is not freedom of speech.

Best of luck to the BSV clown show. I mean come on the Twetch owner thinks he's a frog. ROFL.

Cheesy

N.B. Twetch currently utilizes the BSV blockchain. BSV is NOT Bitcoin.

Bitcoin is BTC.

is a fully encrypted messaging platform that allows its users to chat privately with anybody on Twetch. Twetch Chat is encrypted using Bitcoin, AES, and ECIES. Chats are encrypted using your Bitcoin private keys and are private and only accessible to you and those you permit.

Chat encryption using private keys? That's a red flag and why no one should ever think of using this service, how can you be sure the providers won't store the private keys of it's users; it also reads it can be accessible to people you permit, that should not even be an option, no one should ever be permitted to have access to your private keys.

I guess that approach is being made decentralized.
But encryption using private keys is retarded.

"Encryption" using private keys -> verifying with the public key = digital signatures
Encryption using public keys -> decryption using private keys -> actual public key crypto usage

It is very well possible to encrypt a message with the recipients public key. And only this recipient will be able to decrypt the message.
But encrypting (symmetrically?) a message using the private key is indeed a dumb idea.

We are all familiar with the Twitter hack last July and everyone was screaming for non-custodial services, blockchain based, decentralized, with good security platform. Well, our prayers are answered, comes: Twetch -

However, don't get excited guys, as this so called platform are boasting that they are using blockchain technology and bitcoin itself as peer-to-peer payment system.

Twetch Communication Services, Bitcoin SV and Bitcoin SV Blockchain

The Site contains software to help users post information onto the Bitcoin SV Blockchain (“BSV” or the “Blockchain”) and to also display such content from the Blockchain on the Site and may contain bulletin board services, chat areas, news groups, forums, communities, personal web pages, calendars, and/or other message or communication facilities designed to enable you to communicate with the public at large or with a group, (collectively, “Communication Services”).

Twetch.com incorporates monetary incentives into the Site whereby you are able to receive compensation for your Submissions, including, but not limited to, when other users like, repost and/or licenses your content (“User Compensation”). Twetch receives a percent of User Compensation earned.

Currently the Site uses moneybutton.com, relayx.io, and similar cryptocurrency wallet services as a way to facilitate the User Compensation. In order to use Twetch, you must have a moneybutton.com, relayx.io, and similar cryptocurrency wallet services account. Moneybutton.com, relayx.io, and similar cryptocurrency wallet services uses the cryptocurrency BITCOIN SV (“BSV”) for these transactions.

So before anyone uses this services, just be careful guys, the people behind BSV are working hard to try to promote "Bitcoin" here, as if to use it's Blockchain so it's a trick by CSV and his people behind.
Lol, even if it were actually based on Bitcoin (not Bitcoin SV), I would not be that interested, but now it's just an attempt to promote something that doesn't deserve to be promoted. I don't think this social network will become popular. We already have Telegram for save messaging, Steemit for blogging and getting incentives in crypto, Twitter for short catchy ideas. Moreover, the problem is that Twitter does not properly ensure the security of users' accounts which results in scam. I don't think Obama or Elon Musk would switch from Twitter to Twetch, and if they don't, their impostors or hackers of their accounts will continue to scam people. So Twetch just does not solve the problem.

The site literally runs on BSV blockchain, so promoting BSV their is common, promoting bitcoin is normal and can be happen on any platform. Also try to check peepeth.com its a twitter like social media runs on eth blockchain.

What a horrendous name for this app. First thing that several search engines do when you type "twetch" is to correct it to "twitch" (obviously), making it extremely difficult to get some info about the app...not like i was gonna use it anyways, just wanted more info other than just buzzwords and generic statements about privacy and encryption

not surprisng that the ones who came up with this silly name are part of small brain BSV camp  Grin

there are better options for messaging app with end-to-end-encryption and many other features like Signal or Element (this one used to be called Riot.im), the latter users the decentralized network called 'matrix' which lets you run your own server so it's better than Signal, but both a great privacy-focused messengers

I thought that this is a counterpart and competitor for Twitch, lol.

Op, you probably have mistaken BSV as bitcoin which is in fact an altcoin! Twetch is built on BSV blockchain and used this altcoin to reward the users! I mean that's what I see from your quoted text. If that is true, this discussion belongs to altcoin section.
You are right that this topic does belongs to the altcoin section and he has also said about the fact of BSV blockchain.

i would think twice before using anything that comes from someone who makes such a silly statement with a lot of flaws in it.

first of all what the hell does "encrypted using Bitcoin" means? it's like saying "encrypted using dollar".
secondly there is nothing special about bitcoin private keys since they are simply numbers. the encryption technique is what matters and it is never wise to reuse a bitcoin private key for other purposes in different cryptography schemes because it increases the risk of leaking it and losing your coins.

and of course it is just advertising the shitcoin called bcash-sv.

Secondly, encrypted chat system is not a technology from moon. A lot of applications use encryption to secure end-to-end chats and communications. Unfortunately Twetch is nothing but a replica of Twitter with few tweaks. Nothing really exciting per say!

I still do not get this, what is a message platform doing with private keys used to encrypt messages from users to users, private keys are supposed to be offline, or that supposed not to leave users devices. I think this is wrong and people should avoid such services before they are scammed. Although, I do not know how this works but we better maintain the old ways of protecting our private keys.

Twitter, Fb and other messaging apps steal users data (they lack privacy) and that's bad to say the least, but substituting them with a messaging app that will put your crypto funds/private keys at risk is the worse choice.

A very interesting project. Whether it can fly as high as "twitter". And also be a competitor to twitter.
