I guess he finally found where the business is. This guy is supposed to become a Trump advisor if he ever wins the elections. I wonder what type of advice is Trump going to receive, because in porn and adult entertainment he is more of an expert than The Apprentice.

So, I am now waiting for all the legal issues that XTwitter is going to get out of this.

Edited to add: does this mean Elon is monetising sex workers and the genitals of others? will he be gathering personal data on the sex tastes of people? does this make Elon a "Pimp"

Elon Musk’s X now officially allows pornographic content on its platform but says it will block adult and violent posts from being seen by users who are under 18 or who do not opt-in to see it.

The company announced on Monday new policies that formalise what is viewable on the platform.

They come as regulator pressure grows for platforms around the world to prevent children from accessing inappropriate content on social media.

Historically X, previously Twitter, has not prevented people posting adult content on the platform. Sex workers who use subscription services such as OnlyFans have used X to promote their work for years.

Users who post adult content, including nudity and implied or explicit sexual acts, have now been asked by X to adjust media settings so that their images and videos are put behind a content warning before they can be viewed. Users under 18 or those who do not put a birthdate in their profile will be unable to view this content.
So, now we know what the X stands for.

When he was taking over twitter, he said that they will "defeat the spam bots or die trying". And bot problem just grew when he took over, and especially porn bots were a growing problem among scammers. So allowing those i guess he could say he doesn't need to defeat them Tongue. Now i just hope they get sued by Xvideos and just embrace scammers, because that's the demographic he is targeting for.

I guess he just doesn't care that real twitter users are leaving for Threads and other platforms. I just hope that worst of the worst in that platform won't follow, as everything else is too "woke" for them. So it's a win-win.

I think this fine but maybe to ensure kids don’t lie about their age when they create an X account & obviously be at risk of seeing X rated content, they should have to upload KYC, government issued identification. That’s the only thing that will severely limit the chances of minors seeing things they shouldn’t see.
If they are going to do with KYC which is most chances not happening then still things can't be controllable for them because we are having many rules and other laws about this, but they completely fail to give positive results but as he stopped this all many were happy, but now he feels its lost of money for him so he is starting again.
But as it's mentioned it's going as we have in past but now maybe he started this for the paid members which could be good for him as this will increase his revenue and profit.

He wants to make it an all in one superapp. Porn is a big part of people's life and he wants to integrate it on X. There were porn in Twitter before, but now X is regulating it. With regulations, there would be less chances of seeing pornographics if you don't want to.
He might also want to be an onlyfans alternative and I don't think there's anything wrong in it. No one would be forced fed porn. The reason why I have bias for Elon Musk is he's more crypto friendly than most billionaires. If X became a superapp, it would certainly be an easy place to spend crypto.

But the bottom line is that Elon will be benefiting of mostly women who get into porn because there may be little option available to them. Is it not something like favouring human slavery? Is he not the "pimp" of these "performers"? Is it ok that he monetises other people having sex for money?

BTW, kind of worrying that you think porn is a big part of people's lives.

Once there is news that X will allow pornography then the local government in my country will threaten and block the X social media, of course this worries me because all sources of information about bitcoin and other cryptos come from X, but what power if the government bans it in its country.

So you guys are ok with Elon, richest guy on earth, benefiting from women (mostly) selling sex by monetising them?
Disagree with Elon Musk's policy on pornography on X, I am against anything about adult content, this does not reflect a good thing, although adult content cannot be avoided from other social media.

Pornographic contents is not new to social media so I don't see anything disturbing or worrisome about Elon's X allowing pornography because on a norm almost every one on social media platforms are exposed to sexual contents whether adults or children so there is no form of regulations that will deprive people from accessing adult contents in the Internet as a whole, even if Elon musk is benefiting from women through monetizing their sexual contents on X, those women one way or the other will also benefit from the monetization so it shouldn't be something of so much concern.

dude literally bought X with his money and can decide to shut it down or use it for whatever purpose that pleases him. You could tell right from onset that this is just almost at the corner when he allows adult content to flow through  X and only gives you warning before opening it. Truth is that the X app is till evolving and in no time it's going to become a ground for all sort of shit that's void of regulation or censorship.
So, I am now waiting for all the legal issues that XTwitter is going to get out of this.
is there any legal issue that he might possibly face out of this? For all I know, if you're not up to 18 years you are not to get access to most of those adult content and it's just going to be his defense should a case even arise. Porn hub has long existed with million of subscribers and views that suppases those that will ever get involved with adult content on x. If anyone really wanted to see adult content I don't x would be the option to consider since they literally have better options to consider and so there is zero to no case against Elun musk.

Yes, the moment any underage bypasses somehow the age restriction is possibly even a criminal offence. They would need to put a very robust procedure or risk big sanctions / charges. Also, I am not sure how many people want their verified account associated with activities of this type.

Look, I am not judging, I just find that XTwitter may become XTitter and that Elon will become the richest "pimp" on Earth.

Maybe I'm quite neutral on this issue, because everything has its own positive/negative sides that we judge. It's understandable that Elon Musk would make such a move, because he sees opportunities there, and his way of looking at the problem is not one-sided. As for the opponents, they can argue that it is ethical behavior... but in my opinion, if you don't like it, you shouldn't use it simply like that.

In the past, when I learned about s*xtoys and heard about them being used in some treatments, I was skeptical about the excuse, but at the end of the day, the tool is our choice use.

I am in utter disbelief by looking at some people defending the adult content and pornography in one of the most popular and widely used site, people use Twitter to check everything and it's used by people of all age group and we cannot sell sex and pornography here as there are hundreds of different site to promote their activities but not Twitter. People have gone insane defending anything without any conscience and who ever says it's not a big deal are okay with their children's being pushed towards adult content and justify selling sex in a platform mostly used for news and updates. If this grows then Twitter will be in loss as people will stop using it.

I think these people will even justify selling prostitusion in LinkedIn as a professional services.
I don't understand why you aswell think it's wrong, it says 18 yrs and above which means no kids are involved as per restrictions. Even our browser contains sites to those adults content which makes it even easy and accessible by under age children talk more of X (twitter). Twitter won't allow those contents to pop up as ads, firstly the user needs to search for it then before being able to access it, so if a child is striving to access such contents then probably he wasn't raised correctly.

I had read about this this week. Which makes me wonder what changed within the people in charge of the decision making circle of this company. Pornography was implicitly already allowed in Twitter, because it was rarely moderated and deleted. But I am not sure whether there is indeed some change within the policy of moderation when comes to nudes and people filming themselves having sex. I would need to check.
Instead of talking about the changes of Twitter policies, I am more interested on what pornographic websites which are already established in this business would do, if anything....
I highly doubt pornographic stars and "content" creators are going to switch suddenly from this websites to shares their material exclusively on Twitter, still I assume they are considering it as a posibility.

The most likely scenario would be those people to continue to use all the webpages they have at their disposal, but now giving some temporary attention to Twitter.

What's surprising with this? X or Twitter has been swarmed with a lot of adult contents even long time before the acquisition of Elon. That was the time when Jack Dorsey was still the owner of it. And with this announcement, it's just a plain announcement when most of the X users' have known this trade in that platform. So the plan of having paid blue check marks and verifying of accounts don't work at all because it's going to cost him money. Why not just make an announcement to make it close to onlyfans?

does this mean Elon is monetising sex workers and the genitals of others? will he be gathering personal data on the sex tastes of people?
Just like any other social media platform, they have their x-rated part that they cannot remove. Why? because that's how they make money. The more views, the more clicks and visits, the more virality of a content will give them more exposure and users coming back to them. And this is what X is doing, they have to do something to make their platform relevant as of this moment. And with all of the xrated and known websites out there, X is just joining the club. If the x rated videos and images are going to be blurred or going to ask the users to click it, that's the same in Facebook but that's mostly for gory contents that a user can see.

If Pornhub can do and we don't have any problem then I don't see anything wrong with Elon.

If Only fans can do and we don't have any problem then I don't see anything wrong with Elon.

But users are the one who decides to post sexually explicit content, Elon didn't ask them to do and we came a long way now even YouTube allowing nudes and they just hide themselves under educational purposes.

He fucking owns X and has the right to do whatever he wants, and you should not forget that he is a business man and no matter how rich he is, he is doing this for money. Elon has being disgusting me recently with some of his post on X acting as if he can control people's lives.

I am not surprised at this new from what I have being reading from his post on X recently. He also have a child and relations too that have children so whatever he does will also have negative impact on him indirectly. Porn on social media is weird. X is becoming something else.

Somehow I'm not surprised about these news. Actually, any contraversial stuff  that comes from Musk isn't surprising.
You can love or hate things that he is doing with Twitter and changes that he made, but from business perspective they're not doing good at all, not like it was under previous owners.
These posts will be hidden from users who are under 18 years old - yeah, because children/teenagers always sign up with their real age Smiley
If i'm not mistaken, not so long time ago Twitch started to allow NSFW, but after receiving big backlash they had to change their rules.

I don't see this as a big deal at all, goggle and all browser contains adult content that's free and accessible to all regardless of the age of the individual and even a young underage teen can always access this sight anytime and anyway at there own will and no one has really made a big deal out of it. Anyone that watches these kind of content in x has been watching it elsewhere and didn't just get into it because it's now officially allowed in the sire.
There is big difference between search engine and docial media website. One thing when such content is shown on dedicated website and another is on social media website used by hundreds of millions and big part of them isn't audience for adult content.

i did not see that this was something that needs to be exaggerated, because the porn content has been spread on the x platform for a long time and it seems that x hasn't been banned on these accounts. even when x does not put regulations on the adult content, these content will still be on x and the number is also the same, so it is better if they allow it.

if parents are worried that their children are exposed to content like this, they can arrange that their children's accounts cannot receive vulgar content on their feeds, or it is better for them to keep their children away from social media.

From the source that OP cited, Twitter has allowed users to freely post pornographic content. The platform has been a good medium where sex workers find and contact their customers. So Elon Musk is not the reason why pornographic content is visible on X. His intention is to make it formal so that rules can be put in place to protect underaged users. The policy that mandates users who post adult content to adjust their settings so that such content will not be viewed by under 18 viewers is commendable. I have been facing the problem of my nephews and nieces viewing or using my phones because I am afraid of some of this pornographic content.

I don't see this as a big deal at all, goggle and all browser contains adult content that's free and accessible to all regardless of the age of the individual and even a young underage teen can always access this sight anytime and anyway at there own will and no one has really made a big deal out of it. Twitter is one of the most popular social media platforms, so this policy is a really big deal, especially for parents and underage users. As you said, these children will easily falsify their age and have free access to this adult content.

If you're not interested in such content, I don't think that you are going to see more of it as you scroll down you x page. If my knowledge isn't wrong, the pages you're recommended to are the once that you've liked or visited or had an engagement with and if you don't want to see such content, you could easily unfollow anyone that's posting such  content. I still know that on my Facebook. Page the only thing that pops up while browsing through the videos there are majorly music videos, sport and comedy. Those are my interest and because that's why I always like and engaged in, those are the kind of recommendations I get. If the algorithm brings in content that I don't like, it's just left for me to unfollow the page or mute myself from it. This is a free society and what's even happening on the street is far worse off than what you see on the media but the decision to get involved in the act is just yours to take.
