Historically DoS attacks have coincided with volatility.
Also be on the lookout for some fake bad news.

Ad maiora!
good article ( the second one) I figured it might be a rouge or a vigilante, didn't even guess it might be miners.
I wonder if we'll ever find out?
But you know, BTC still works, so LOL
Go ahead and throw your fairy dust around
Hasn't hurt the price any

My grand theory is;
Some whale got sick and tired of how boring and uneventful BTC has been all year. He decided he'd make things interesting... Great Success!

Its not costing them that much, only 800 to 1600 dollars a day, chump change for a government or a large business.

Dose anyone have any info about this "code update that could be implemented that would essentially force them off the network?" (Talking about the chines miners)

In my opinion it's the same guys, behind the first test.

" According to Weaver, a Bitcoin address used in this stress test was used in a previous test orchestrated by Coinwallet.eu. This is particularly damning evidence, although it’s worth noting that Coinwallet.eu publicly announced its previous stress tests, but this one came without warning."

They decided to launch a new test, without prior notification. I did suggest this in a previous thread on this board. If you want to run a stress test, in a real environment, you have to do it without prior notification.

If you give prior notification, the results might be contaminated by people with hidden agendas. {They might attack too, and then influence the results}

Time will tell, who this was and why they did it... but it's costing them a lot of money.  Wink

...

Two nicely written articles clearly (for me) discussing the attacks are at vice.com.

Maybe it has cost the spammers a mere $800 to hit the blockchain (latest attacks), and wikileaks & boat spam victims:

Maybe F2Pool is not guilty of malfeasance here, maybe they're heroes...:
