Surely it's best to have a forum where topics can be discussed openly and without suppression. Fraud and theft is everywhere on the net, so we need somewhere to alert people to scams, and for the authorities to use the information to trace and punish the perpetrators. I thought the US gov had started a couple of mixers to attract scammers and money launderers - It seems to be an easy way to net the unwary. Just another thought, do any of the mega Bitcoin whales use this forum? I mean the guys that transfer thousands of Bitcoin at a time. It would be nice if we could get some opinions from them. I bet they read the forum, or at least get reports on significant posts.Like it or not, they are influencing the future of Bitcoin, and we need to learn how to cope in a changing world. Many projects of the grey initiative ( some people call it the green initiative ) are failing. EVs and medical injections are two examples. CBDCs are on the way, and we need to learn how Bitcoin will co-exist with them.  Maybe now is the time to have a CBDC board so that we can protect our interests, and possibly influence government policy. I believe that we need to preserve fiat, gold and Bitcoin, and introduce CBDCs as an alternative government controoled currency, and we need an efficient means of conversion between the four media. That's wishful thinking, as there is too much fiat debt for the banks to preserve it in its present form.

Let us allow the forum be and do nothing.

When you start running when no one is pursuing you, you are stylishly calling for onlookers to give attention to you and your reason for running.

Going with option 1 is not a good idea. To show solidarity with the government and uphold reputations, the forum cuts off loads of stuff that conflicts with the government stance on things, a good example is "Mixers"

What more can be said that we have nothing to hide as a forum.

Going with the 2nd option will remove so many problems and inconveniences at once. We are not doing anything illegal here so why look for option number one and i think if it is possible to evade govt restriction with number one then the forum can be a hub for illegal trade.

Now US gov is not going to shut down a forum for no reason

They will probably take control of it after Theymos is indicted.   This forum will not be shut down; too many crimes have been committed here.

Welp, just read the news about the mixers, you take a couple of days off to spend family time and all of the sudden something huge happens, I hate it when that happens lol. I hope that this forum will continue to operate for a very long time the exact way it has been because what we have here is great, even despite not being able to work on sigs anymore! Theymos is absolutely reasonable and a good person so get out of here with the corrupt nonsense!

In connection with recent events, I propose to hold a vote and determine the fate of the bitcointalk forum

First way. Going offshore like PirateBay (offshore hosting). And no government restrictions will be scary. You are all can do whatever you want. Absolute freedom, almost decentralization, development and innovations, a successful platform for promising projects

Second way. Do nothing. Remain in current jurisdiction. Complying with all orders from the authorities. Gradually introducing KYC and bans of everything related to casinos, gamblings, exchangings, faucets etc. Nothing can be done except worship and write praise for the DT-system. Absolute totalitarianism, complete centralization, corruption and degradation

Third way.   Replace the administrator with one who does not support theft and corruption.

You mean theymos supports theft and corruption! Can you logically justify this claim of yours?

I was also thinking something like this as theymos himself said he would happily give away the forum to a nonprofit organization for the sake of the forum if he had to, and he still can but why create all the fuss while he is the admin and he can restrict any thing on this forum. And current ban must be taken after a complete analysis. Well, what I was going to say, is nothing can remain decentralized even if you are on the darknet or darkweb.

Because everything has loopholes and the feds can track you, no matter how much privacy measurement you took, the point is, that people can use this forum for illegal purposes if it becomes decentralized.

I won't call this totalitarianism (even though I was not familiar with this term till now) and I won't call it corruption or degradation, but centralization, I can call it that because it is centralized. And I think if we really want to promote mixers then we should be ready to face consequences.

If ever this forum becomes a victim of invasion of privacy by the government, there's bound to be some reactions that will be generated by a lot of people in this and it's likely that if the invasion becomes so bad, word easily spreads around the campfire that something big is happening and it's going to start a chain reaction that will probably lead to people in the country protest about the invasion of privacy in the forum by government entities to monitor criminal activities, going offshore seems like a good idea to protect the forum but wouldn't that imply that in times of turmoil, our play isn't standing up to the tyrant or to the oppressive policies but to run away?

Is the mixer being seize is not using offshore hosting? I really feel like USA can seize everything whatever they want directly or indirectly by pulling some strings from different organizations.

I’m not familiar with the Piratebay but I’m not sure if dodging the restrictions by going offshore is a long term solution compared to just comply and we all have a normal forum life.

It is the Bitcoin forum, not Bitcoin SV forum.

Why you don't try to create a Bitcoin SV forum like Roger Ver team and Bitcoin Cash team tried but failed since 2017?

They tried to say Bitcoin Cash is Bitcoin. They created their Bitcoin Cash forum but the link is still a tool to fake Bitcoin forum. They failed with both attempts.

If there is a thing like Bitcoin SV forum, it will be not different than Bitcoin Cash forum.

Why do all good things always come to an end? As soon as a some site becomes mega-popular, then some kind of pressure from the authorities immediately begins
theymos is conservative, but honestly he got spooked after reading the warning from LE, he interpreted that message as if it was directed at him since it was posted without his prior knowledge.
Now US gov is not going to shut down a forum for no reason, as long as no sanctioned mixer operates here, they won't touch this forum. Because guess what? They already have all the data, besides why would they close down a forum where it's admin is compliant with the laws of US? It's not like they asked him to stop advertising mixers or else we shut you down. If they had asked that, I'm pretty sure, he'd say it. He just rushed into it since it was kind of like a raid what fiod did. Which I have already responded accordingly. They promised to be good boys from now on.😉

I strongly recommend that this be considered as it will keep the forum void of any influences from the gvernment and the restrictions that goes with it. If measures are not taken to liberate the forum from government interferences, we will get to the point where the government might want to halt operations that pertains to bitcointalk forum.

Although, it will be a clear case of deprivation of freedom in so many areas but when tagged with a name that violates a particular law, it will have no option but to bow to "the rule of law".

A serious question, are you not able to reverse transactions and block wallets with your garbage coin? If yes then why are you in support of so much privacy and freedom? This double standard deserves a naked walk of shame IMO.

Of course this is not completely a double standard, why? Because you just proved to everyone that you don't even believe in the idea that you are selling to people, you are also after freedom and privacy, so next time when you talk about how proud you are about not allowing drug and illegal trades happening on your garbage chain, we will have this topic to quote and have a laugh.

that th new forum software means we move away from compliance with government rules
Switching to a software version of the forum will not make the forum decentralized

Until the forum moves to another jurisdiction and uses offshore servers, there can be no talk of any decentralization

The forum has been active for more than a decade now and has tilted more to freedom of speech than any other platform I have been on during that time. One incident with mixers (which is the first time such a decision has been made) does not warrant all the talk about KYC and the rest.

If it is possible at this point, I will vote for the forum to be completely decentralized and that th new forum software means we move away from compliance with government rules, but voting on a poll is not the starting point, first will be to know what steps need to be taken to get there.
