Congratulations chelsea congratulations Tuchel, your second title in less than 7 months with Chelsea. Villareal played effectively, without possession they were able to hold on to a draw and shoot out penalties. Was surprised by the change of Mendy and Kepa. Everything boils down to their performance. Judging based on the supercup trophy I will say they are a bit prepared for the session although a little more work has to be done based on the line-ups and substitutes. I was expecting a more professional game from Villarreal but all I got was a team who only managed to keep the game going. After the equalizing goal I was expecting more goals but it was too obvious Villarreal wasn't prepared for the trophy at all

Yeah, betting to qualify is one way to actually win on a bet. That's because, the normal time that do count for the stakes on other outcomes doesn't count in this one. It has got extra time and even a penalty shootout covered, like we saw Chelsea winning in the extra time other than the regular.

The penalty was one scary time for Chelsea, especially when K. Havertz missed the very first shoot! You could see how terrifying the rest players looked but, hope came sooner than they expected with K. Arrizabalaga making a save with the second shooter for Villarreal A. Mandi. @CLS63 a lot of credit goes to Tuchel as he’s single handedly changed this Chelsea side, and if he’s given more backing I feel he’ll transform Chelsea into a title winning squad. Furthermore I also liked the way Kepa and Mandy respected who’s going to start, and who’s going to take over if it went to penalties, and this says a lot on the culture Tuchel is building in this team.

I also expected it to be more difficult for Chelsea than many saw it. Villareal has a good team and they showed what they are capable of against Man United in the final.
I especially liked Tuchel's tactical move of changing the keeper for the penalty shootout. In retrospect, that was absolutely the right move. It also shows me how deeply he now knows his team, which makes Chelsea one of the top favorites for the Premier League and Champions League for me.

First half of game was so dominated by Chelsea that it wasn't very interesting to watch and I even wanted to turn-off game. But in second half Villarreal improved significantly. Game moved on to penalty shootout. People call it as lottery, but I don't fully agree. Tuchel replaced goalkeeper Mendy by Kepa and it shows that Chelsea had prepared for possible penalty shootout. This substitution instantly gave flasback to 2014 World Cup and genius substitution by Van Gaal.

Money probably is big factor. For both teams it's first official game of season, so obviously they are far from optimal condition and it's difficult to call this trophy prestigous. After a very competitive match, Chelsea finally made it to the title after penalty shoot-outs. Both of the teams were eager to have a really good start with winning a big title at the beginning of the season already. Chelsea were the most powerful side of course. But I still appreciated Villarreal's huge effort. I enjoyed watching the game. This can be a nice morale boost for Chelsea before starting the EPL.

Just like @youdacapt pointed out, Ballon d'or isn't given based only on trophies won. There are other criteria to decide who the winner and Jorginho, though pivotal to Chelsea's and Italy recent successes didn't do it alone. It was a team effort - He love a decisive penalty in euro 2020 final but his team mates were there to help so it was a team effort. Individually, He isn't doing bad but I think there are people ahead of him in the perking order.

And we have a winner! Chelsea managed to beat Villarreal 6-5 at penalties and won the Super Cup. It was really hell of a game to be honest. Villarreal played really good against Chelsea and it wasn't so different than the Europa League final game against Manchester Utd. Villarreal stayed in the game and helped it to go to extra time after a 1-1 result in 90 minutes. There was no goal in the extra time and we were at penalties. Villarreal resisted so well there also but they lost after Albiol missed the penalty.

Congrats to Chelsea! They won it even without Lukaku in this one.

Its another proud moment for Chelsea and a second trophy for Thomas Tuchel. I had hoped that the game didn't go into extra time and then a penalty shootout but it did and Chelsea broke there history of loosing in the super cup finals tonight. Villarreal did good, it was so unfortunate that the miss came by their team captain, the least person that would have been expected to miss. After all the tactical defense in hope for a penalty shootout, they still got to loose.
Kapa proved himself the man of the moment when it comes to the penalty shoots, being placed at a position of trust and he delivered as expected, its amazing. It was a well deserved win for Chelsea.
Congratulations to them, they are now 2021 super cup champions.

I never understand real reason of playing matches like Super Cup when both teams didn't even start their season, and I consider it more as exhibition match, but maybe I am wrong and they earn substantial amount of money.

Of course both teams have the same motivation to win and the unfortunate thing is Chelsea's schedule of matches in the PL which will play this weekend. It will certainly be a consideration but even so, I still believe Chelsea will focus on this match and give all their energy and ability. Unlike Villarreal, although Laliga starts this weekend as well, Villarreal gets a schedule at the end or in the middle of the week which allows Villarreal to play more optimally in this match. Lukaku didn't on the squad yet, I hear the news he must be able to fix it, I mean he is on a medical check-up first. the competition is good for the team to try a new formation and squad before kick-off in the main league. I think Chelsea will win too although I am always sceptical about the result of games played before the beginning of the season and the very first games at the start.
Lukaku won't play, generally recently signed players have to adapt to the team before playing, by Wednesday Lukaku couldn't have 1 minute of training with the team so Wink

As I said in my post, anything can happen in one match finals. Favorites don't win all the time and underdogs may perform better. It also doesn't have to be the better performers win the cup, you can play worse and still win it. That's why these games have higher risks than other matches and odds are same as others so that means low reward for your high risk. I don't know why you see it as bold statement, that's a common sense in gambling market.

No I disagree with that, the best common sense in gambling market is for the bookmakers to provide the most accurate odds they can, because if they keep the same margin, it means one of the teams or one of the outcomes if you take the draw in to account, will be overpriced if odds turn out to be wrong. The total implied probability of the odds is always 100% without the vigorish. So if there is more uncertainty on the final outcome the odds of the favorite should be higher.

Villareal is a Spanish club which has much more tactics compared to Chelsea which is an English club although most times football can't be predicted 💯% but from previous performances I think Villa real stand a better chance of winning the super cup without traces. Chelsea is the favourable option but we need to consider two things.
A) Villarreal might not take the match as lightly as Chelsea will take it. Reason being that, she will like to register herself as big fishes in the world. Beating Manchester United recently would be a big motivation to do same with Chelsea. Beating two England clubs would be a big ego. So, Villarreal would take the match seriously.
B) Villarreal are good fighters, led by a hungry goal achiever as a coach. Now that odds are in his side as per winning. He would utilize his chances.

I won't be very optimistic about the competition because i did not see both teams winning their respective competitions, am still in denial to be honest.

Yes I agree with you, Chelsea is superior on all fronts but it's not final yet the strength and prowess of the team could have been overtaken by luck
So in this case we see that Chelsea has the strength but for luck we don't know yet, Villarreal and Chelsea can get it.

Yes, this trophy is not so prestigious because usually, with players who have made the move, at least this is a very pronounced differentiating factor. Looking with statistic almost primer league team always failed when faced with la liga team, maybe this way if some one want to be Villarreal support team, but looking on paper never have any chance for UEFA Europe team can win from champion league team and looks impossible, but most excited to see can Chelsea destroy mith about primer league team always loss from la liga team.

I think it soo. It's too early. Chelsea are far ahead of Villarreal in terms of current performances. It is really difficult to predict the condition of any team after 2 months. If Tuchel is in charge of Chelsea then I will place my bet in favor of Chelsea's victory.

It's tough but I'm guessing the villareal will win, maybe by a small score of 1-0. There may also be penalties. Even though Chelsea is the UCL champion I don't think it guarantees him a win easily against the villareal. Villareal also has a good mentality after defeating MU who are the seeds of the UEFA champions. But I think a lot of people will bet Chelsea are champions.

I'm not surprised that this isn't taken seriously by both teams. It shouldn't be happening in the first place since the CL CHAMPION will be facing an opponent who never made it to the Champions league group stage or never got out of it. I don't think it would affect their reputation as the elite champs of European club competition but Chelsea shouldn't lose here.

Both teams will make transfers and enter the new season. It would be very difficult to predict this already. While Manchester City and Manchester United thought they would win the finals, they both lost in the final. So it's not right to say Villarreal or Chelsea win. This isn't the super league fixture I was expecting but it is what it is. I really wanted a Manchester Derby for super cup. That would've added more color to the game and make it much more interesting. Kinda like the super cup fixture between Liverpool vs Chelsea in 2019. Chelsea are the favorites to win. I think Chelsea is going to win this game.I based this opinion in what I have seen in both finals.While Villareal was lucky to win with penalties Chelsea won convincingly yesterday night.It is the same for Chelsea,they will still play another final against a team which has no experience in these levels,in finals as it is the same for Villareal as it was for Manchester City,they are here for the first time.
