Oh please...  I'd rather watch McGregor fight Alvarez for the light weight UFC title than see him in a boring boxing match vs Mayweather. Boxing is slowly dying now and boxers like Mayweather are finding ways to make themselves and the sport relevant.

that is infact the truth,to make the brand mayweather revelant he just made this news up about facing Mcgregor, because he is a hot property in MMA right now and since the there were signs of Mcgregor fighting Alvarez at ufc 205 ,things changed now,it is being said that Alvarez will be defending his belt against the undefeated khabib nurmagomedov at UFC 206. If not for the injuries Khabib Nurmagomedov would have being the champion a long time ago, undefeated for 23 pro MMA fights is a feat.

Floyd Mayweather is an excellent businessman and knows the McGregor fight is a great deal. It will be a walk in the park for him in a boxing match. It can generate tons of money, so with the right offer it will happen. I know that I will bet a win for Mayweather and make some money myself too. I think Mayweather has one fight in him again before true retirement because he wants to hit the nice 50-0 record, this could be it.

Mcgregor facing floyd mayweather in a boxing match would be a joke and i am sure Dana white would not approve this fight outside of the octagon, since Mcgregor is contracted to UFC and if at all if the match is supposed to happen Floyd Mayweather and his team has to first contact Dana white rather than just hyping about facing a MMA fighter.Mgcregor wont stand a chance against Mayweather in a boxing match.

McGregor wants to make money, and Dana white is a businessman so he wants to make money too, same goes for Floyd Mayweather. It's all a question of how much money on the line there would be for the fight. Im sure they all would agree to do a boxing match if enough money is on the table. McGregor has a big ego and thinks he can beat anybody in the world and Mayweather thinks he can't lose and it's a walk in the park. All parties want to make a ton of money. I say it's very possible that this fight will happen.

If you said this 2 years ago I would of said NO WAY! but I agree I mean look how
dead boxing is. I haven't watched boxing since Mayweather's last fight lol. Also UFC
lets in wrestlers and stuff. They clearly understand how to adapt and be successful.
This may be the fight that has a chance to save boxing otherwise in 10 years I think
boxing has a real chance of being a dead sport.

May be it is a possibility but i highly doubt it would happen because,Mayweather retired from boxing,he would speak like this once in a while to let people know he is alive  Grin Grin he is a businessman and he is marketing himself,in his recent interview mayweather said the match against Mcgregor wont take place and so on. But Mcgregor's next fight is finalised, as always Dana White bent his ways,he will be facing Eddie Alvarez for a title match in the Newyork card in UFC205.

Remember Rhonda showing up in WWEs Wrestlemania and hit Stephanie McMahon? If that was allowed by Vince this is also possible specially this would generate more money for both camps.

i hope you just missed my point here, here we are talking about Boxing match from Flyod Mayweather who is probabily the best defensive boxer of all time,if Mcgregor gets into the boxing ring for the money ,he will get humiliated for sure,he does not have the stamina to last even 8 round inside the boxing ring and more over flyod is an intellegent men he knows he will get humiliated if he enters the octagon. i dont think so this match will be possible. who knows what the new owners will decide

Yeah, it's too late, but if he wants to do it, why not? He will keep making a ton of money every time he fights because people always want to see an WWE fighter in a real fighter. He has all the money needed to hire the best trainers in the world and the best gyms, and if he has the motivation, he can at least try to fight and survive a couple of rounds and keep making money.

look at the stock of Gall now,he now things that he could be undefeated and started calling out fights.he is a legit brown belt BJJ practitioner and Punk rolled just like purple belt when he took him down. He can hire the best trainers but how fast he could pick up the BJJ techniques is the big question mark.It all depends upon who his next opponent is going to be,if he gets a boxer then it might be a different story
You cant blame the fighters to call out someone like what Gall did, it his way to hype his name, to get attention, if they dont do that and just win every match then they will not be remembered by the fans. Just look at McTapper, he lost but his still known and remembered by fans. Look at Lesnar, last few fights before his comeback UFC 200 he lost but still a crown drawer.

Wasn't Brock Lesnar found to be cheating with drugs on UFC200 against Mark Hunt? what a disappointment.

I totally agree he looked desperate like he couldn't win unless he got
some lucky punch in.  Pretty sad the wrestlers are so pathetic because its
good for the sport to being all those viewers over.

CM Punk rushed his attack too much. He went straight to the guy, I guess hoping for a lucky KO or something.

Cross-disciplines (if you can call WWE a discipline) always make tons of views. I personally would like to see McGregor vs Floyd Mayweather, I don't care if it's MMA or a Boxing match since I like both. People call those type of events freakshows or stupid but they are entertainment, and this one would be actually great unlike some WWE guy with no training going MMA.
Not sure which Wrestlemania is that but Floyd Mayweather appeared in one of Wrestlemania going against the Big Show. It sure did generate interest to the paying public and no wonder McTapper tried to generate hype as well by announcing a plan to fight Mayweather. Its all about the money.

Yeah but CM Punk?  I don't think he was an enough of a draw to bring in a lot of the huge WWE fan base.  Get John Cena to fight in the UFC.  That would draw and bring in millions via PPV and ticket sales.  But how old is he these days, hopefully still young enough to fight someone good competitively.

WWE wrestlers may truthly practice some martial arts but it would be easy to adjust in real time or real action fights. Lesnar came from ufc but transition would be easy. But if cena would really go for money but i doubt that it would give his first game an impact wether he is a real fighter or not.

Wasn't Brock Lesnar found to be cheating with drugs on UFC200 against Mark Hunt? what a disappointment.

CM Punk rushed his attack too much. He went straight to the guy, I guess hoping for a lucky KO or something.
Just like what Brandon Vera said, the pay that UFC gave to those punks are like a spit to the face of the MMA fighter. They were tapped to draw crowd and increase PPV and here they are one caught by USADA and one guy who throw only 1 punch and cashed in half a million dollars.

At the end of the day, it does not matter, like it or not, it's all a business and WWE moves millions of dollars, those guys have millions of fans, which means that Dana White is going to make tons of money with those fights. So why not? Clearly people want to see it because they tune in, so from time to time it's fun to see those guys fight real fighters.

Dana White found an opportunity and Dana is willing to gamble on that putting super stars in fight card even without that much experience or exposure in the league. That makes those guys who falls in line just to be in the fight card of an event. But as long as there are people who buys PPV and tickets to this kind of event, Dana will keep on doing this over and over again and we will keep watching and place our bets.

Lol the CM Punk fight was an spectacle. That is just a showmatch, it was ridiculous that that was even considered by Dana White, but he is a businessman after all and I understand that he did it to get tons of views.

CM Punk said that he is going to continue fighting. Good luck for him and I hope he can improve, but he should fight some amateurs first.
Dont you think he is old to start fighting MMA? Not that I don't believe in his capability and just like what he said on his interview with Joe Rogan "dont let anyone tell you that you cant do it" but he has to be realistic. At age 37 and started MMA training only 2 years ago I think its kinda too late even if he fights an amateur.

What about the boring fight of Werdum and Browne? Man I almost fall asleep wIting for someone to get knock out or tap out. Werdum opens round 1 with a flying kick hitting Brown in the face. Browne avoids to go down with Werdum. You can hear the crowd shouting boos in all 3 rounds. Browne doesnt look like he is prepared for this fight as he only wants to stand up and slug it out with Werdum.

I thought it was pretty exciting. Sure the last rounds were a bit boring, but so were the last rounds of the Connor McGregor vs Nate Dias fight, why? well simple, most fighters start to gas out at the last rounds, specially if you are a heavyweight that starts out with flying kicks and shit, also the other guy had a busted finger (the fight should have been stopped). it was an unfortunate fight.
Yes I understand that part that they will lose gas as they enter 2nd and 3rd round. What I don't like is that they seem like both are waiting for someone to commit a mistake so they can take advantage and do the kill. Both are just dancing all over the octagon. There was even a time that Werdum is down and waiting for Browne to make a follow up punch but Browne did not do so as it maybe a trap that Werdum planned to so he can apply his BJJ skills.

No one his right mind would go on the floor with Werdum willingly. Werdum has probably the best skills ever on UFC when it comes to ground game. Also, don't forget that the guy had a fucked up finger. The athletic commission should have stopped the fight. The guy can potentially miss the finger now and his career will get ruined since I can imagine fighting without a finger is really annoying.

Thats true you wouldnt mess with Werdum as he got good ground game but its MMA if they can only do is fight by standing up and no ground skills then better forget about MMA. Look at CM Punk, UFC gave him a mismatch fight, he goes to the ground with Gall, tap out and got paid  Grin

What a crazy fights! The main was a dope Stipe Miocic hammers Alistair Overeem with a brutal punches on the very first round. By the way I feel bad for CM Punk on his debut battle after a loss to Mickey Gall, what a tragedy. At least he had guts to fight in the octagon without hesitation, hope for him to comeback if he doesn't for a second chance we know MMA is not for him.

I would have to disagree with you.  The whole card was crappy and boring.  Even the main event was not so good with Overeem running around the cage and refusing to engage Miocic.  He had a good chance to win it if he was more aggressive.  The CM Punk fight which was supposed to be the draw was just a disgrace.  They should have picked a guy from the streets.  Someone like Kimbo slice.

All of the fights were boring, except maybe for the women's straw weight.
I guess UFC 202 is a tough act to follow. I really hated Overeem running around and turning his back to Miocic, he almost had Miocic, close is no cigar. According to some websites, Overeem was paid higher than Miocic.

CM Punk robbed the rest of the UFC fighters for standing there and got beaten in the first round and got paid $500,000.

I cant believe on Browne asking for a time out because he injured his finger, so when someone got cut in the head because of a nasty elbow can they ask for a time out as well? I think thats where Werdum is coming from but he should have not kicked Edmond Tarverdyan. I wonder why they keep on saying "Rhonda's coach" when Rhonda is not around and Edmond is there for Browne.

UFC 204 is next https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.16190890

Unfortunately that is mostly what happenes when you put two big guys with heavy punches in a ring. Both will respect the power of the other, try to conserve energy and go for the counter punch.

It is also the reason why I enjoy middleweight feights the most. They have the knock out power, the speed and the result is that fights generally get much more dynamic.

I agree with Joe Rogan's after fight comments. Why did UFC allow CM Punk to fight Mickey Gall who is a brown belt in jiu jitsu.
In jiu jitsu they dont allow a brown belt to go against a white belt simply its a mis match just like CM Punk, he maybe a superstar in WWE but in MMA where real kicks and punches happens its a different story. Mickey Gall is way ahead of CM Punk in terms of MMA experience.

stipe ain't losing that belt soon. this guy is insane. a guy who should have been swinging an axe on a battlefield. shame on Alistair for the excuse...and good on Rogan for taking control of the situation and clearing any unneeded controversy before it happened. with this situation, cm punk fighting, an elevator falling and injuring CB, and the entire Browne Werdum fight I can say this is the weirdest UFC event of all time.

I thought he tapped to on his arm sightly but it seems it was just the hand hitting on his arm or something. I think Overeem was scared to get punched and played a very conservative game. I would like to see a rematch, I think he can win if he goes with a better strategy than what he did. Overeem punches are also devastating as we saw.

What a strange fight indeed.

Overeem looked really good at the start, until he started running around like a chicken after getting clipped once. Wild swings mostly after that, although he also landed some good hits.

Fight was basically over after the failed guillotine and getting hurt after that.

Reem almost have it if only he was able to securely lock that guillotine choke Miocic could have tapped out. He runs all over the octagon like a chicken. Punks post fight interview with Rogan sounds like a dad giving an advise to a kid but I admire his courage stepping into the octagon at his age.

Overeem almost had it done on the first round, he knocked him out and went to the floor, but he failed to finish with the triangle choke. Miocic was wobbly as hell for some seconds and Overeem could have knocked him out again but it looked like Overeem was scared to attack him... strange fight.
Yep Reem looks scared and you can even see him running away like a kid who dont want to fight.

Did you guys notice Overeems physique is not the same as before? Overeem looks like he dropped some weight or its because he did not take any enhancers. Just like what happen with Lesnar, after his fight his body looks different.

UFC 203:  Official Weigh In
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kd5g9Y26XNs

Overeem looks really confident that he could win this fight.  You could tell by the way he talks during interviews and just the way he walks.  While Miocic looks kinda nervous.  I'm itching to bet on Overeem but the odds went down a decent bit.
Do you happen to know the odds between Miocic and Werdum? I think it was Werdum as the favorite at that time but Miocic was able to overcome Werdum. Overeem is used to main events since he held heavyweight titles in different promotions.

That was a great submission pulled out by the Brazilian Jessica Andrade.
Rivera won over Faber over Decision
Gall won over Punk over submission in Round 1

I love both Stipe & Overeem, it's yet another one of those fights where I don't wanna see either guy lose... If I'm honest I can see overeem becoming the new champ, i feel like his skill range is a lot more diverse when it comes to those kicks to the leg/body because of his kickboxing/K-1 background... he literally needs this win to cement his place in history having won the strikeforce heavyweight world title, dream heavyweight world title & K-1 world grand prix title AND he is one of only two people ever to hold both an MMA title and K-1 kickboxing title at the same time! either way I'm hoping for a great fight!

Here are my picks for this fight
Miocic
Browne
Gall
Faber

Although im having 2nd thoughts with Punk vs Gall because we dont know if Punk can pull a win over Gall, we dont have a fight history to look at and weigh in. For Werdum I think if he fight the same way like his last fight he will again.

Werdum hyped his fight so much with all those masks

it was a good marketing plan, but too bad he got KO'd in the fight and did not deliver the fight that he was selling. That can happen when you hype something too much, it can disappoint people and become a problem for you business wise.

I'm pretty sure there's some money involved that made it an easier decision for him.  No one would risk looking silly without a financial incentive especially for a guy at his age.  How much is he getting in this fight anyway?

He was earning 2 million annually from WWE, so i am sure he might get close to a million dollar per fight and it all depends upon the crowd he could pull .Sure he could bring some cross over fans and that is the main reason he is here in the UFC.

It seems like CM Punk already put a lot of time and effort for this debut battle. I bet my money on the line for this guy hope he win over Mickey Gall. I don't know why some people hating him because he was from WWE, land of jokers. By the way I salute this guy chasing his dreams even at his 37 years old, it takes a lot of courage.

Interesting that CM Punk doesn't go by his real name.

Brings across a huge fanbase with him this way. It's the smart business move - the UFC wouldn't be behind him in the same way if they were putting Phil Brooks on promo material. Hahaha

I don't get all the hate on CM Punk.  I'm actually looking forward to his match vs Gall.  But I'm watching it purely for the entertainment value which is the sole purpose of this match imo.  I think we should expect more crossovers from the WWE under the new UFC owners.  I hear one of them is the super agent Ari Emanuel.  If you watch the TV show Entourage the character Ari Gold is based on him.

But as I saw cm punk and brock leanar has different goals. From the technique that they used on wwe is really different though, moreover from cm punk styles I just saw it is more like ufc style and not for mma. So I think this will be awesome to see punk have his debut on mma. Mean while brock just a slow type and it is not suitable for him to go on mma fighting which is needs speeds and accuracy

I am sure you have not watched his match,i understand you are a WWE fan,Brock Lesnar is a freak of nature,if he is healthy he would match up with the best in the world,he was the heavy weight champ not in any small organization but in the UFC  in his 4th ever professional MMA bout, nobody does that, only a freak guy would do that,he looks like a hulk, athletically gifted as hell and he moves really fast inside the ring, who can do that who weighs in at over 265 pounds.

What do you guys think about the Gall vs CM Punk match up?  Do you think Gall is ready for the sleeper hold, cobra clutch, boston crab, clothes line, elbow drop or pile driver?  Grin
Not a fan of CM Punk even when he is still at WWE and for me UFC is very far or way too far to be compared to the performers of WWE. Just take a look at Brock Lesnar, he is just huge but other than that he is nothing. Dana White had a hard time selling UFC 200. Now with CM Punk what do we expect out from this guy? Dont be surprissed if theres an early stopage due to KO or submission.

Frank Mir will disagree with you.

Lesnar is a freak athlete if you didn't notice.  He is fast and he is strong but his weakness is he doesn't take getting hit well.  It's almost as though he doesn't like getting hurt.  It's ironic, really.  And whether or not he'll be a freak athlete without PED's is arguable.  Maybe but not to the same degree for sure.

Lesnar is definitely a freak! and agree with you about his weakness and whats funny is it's
the same weakness Tyson had. For being such bullies I think they just weren't used to getting
hit back. They usually do all the hitting lol. Soon as they face someone who can take their punishment
and hit back that's when it goes bad.

Werdum was a disappointment last. He bragged a lot and said he was going to destroy Miocic but Miocic destroyed him. This makes it more exciting for the Overeem fight since Miocic must be feeling really confident after the massive KO punch against Werdum.

In his last fight Werdum was really sloppy,he was defending his belt in a sold out soccer stadium with more than 45,000 spectators and he was really carried away with the magnitude of the event,he was trying to knock out Miocic and in return he got tagged,Micoc does have a leathal right hand in short range.Overeem is a different animal earning belts all over the world and he does need a belt from UFC in his collection, Miocic has to be careful with the kicks of Overeem.

Both fighters are coming out from losing their last fight.  So I would assume both of them are so motivated to win this fight as both risk losing their title contender status if they don't win this.  My money is on Werdum if I could find better odds or if I can find a prop like Werdeum win via KO/TKO or Werdum ITD at decent odds.

Yes. I think so too. I predict that the game plan of Overeem will be to keep his distance and avoid getting in Miocic's boxing range. Overeem has to utilize his kicks and his agility here. He is faster and more athletic compared to his opponent so he could have the slight advantage here.

I don't really want these mouth breathing wrestling fans watching my
favorite sport (UFC) I'm hoping these wrestlers get punked and go back

You dont play down a guy who took it as a challenge and went down to Roufusport MMA Academy and trained under Duke Roufus and remember Punk had the money to keep anyone in his side to polish or learn the art of fighting, yes WWE is fake but he has been taking bumps all his career, taking a bump is not that easy,it really hurts, and he was performing all over the world in sold out cards. so these are his advantages, Mickey Gall is not a world class opponent, atleast for now, he is a young guy gaining fight  experience. The odds fascinates me,i would like to wage some amount in favor of PUNK in this one, Punk is a smart business man i dont think he will fight until he is ready and confident.

What do you guys think about the Gall vs CM Punk match up?  Do you think Gall is ready for the sleeper hold, cobra clutch, boston crab, clothes line, elbow drop or pile driver?  Grin

CM Punk will taste a real punch on his face soon, hopefully he can manage to escape from the very minutes of first round. In my opinion there's still a for him to win over his opponent just keep his distance and when a hit landed on his, adrenaline rush will be triggered then he will use his finishing move, GTS Go To Sleep.

lmao I think he should go to the camel clutch hahah.

I don't really want these mouth breathing wrestling fans watching my
favorite sport (UFC) I'm hoping these wrestlers get punked and go back
to their fake garbage and nascar fans.

It is hard to predict. In general bookmakers are giving the upper hand to Miocic but the difference in odds is not that significant - 1.71 v 2.0.
These 2 fighters both have potential to win this fight. I will personally pass this event and won't bet on any of them - for me it is 55/45 on Miocic.

Yeah.  But I would have loved to see Junior dos Santos take the spot instead of Browne.  It might make for a better fight and match up.
Junior dos Santos Vs Fabricio Werdum 2 could be a great rematch. They last squared off way back 2008 and Junior dos Santos knocked out Fabricio Werdum. That is something to look forward since it looks like Werdum needs to show that Junior dos Santos just got lucky on his debut with UFC although looking at how Fabricio Werdum performed with his match with Miocic, Junior dos Santos will knock him out again.

Junior Dos Santos was one of the talented fighters in the heavyweight division period, but the wars he had with Cain Velasquez definitely had an impact in his body,he took almost a year off after the fights and even the last fight he lost to Alistair Overeem he was coming back after a one year lay off,he just fought three fights from 2013 to 2016, mean time he had surgeries and recently he had a surgery in his hand,so the problem is how healthy he is,if he is in the best of shape,he will be the heavyweight champ in no time,i am sure about that as he has already defeated Stipe Miocic and Werdum .Werdum is an different animal at the moment, his fighting style has changed and his striking has improved than in 2008.

Miocic vs. Overeem is purely a Striker Vs Striker match,Alister Overeem is a well rounded striker in that ,who is an accomplished kick boxer too, where as Miocic is purely a boxer and very good at it,Miocic doesnt use his feet much to do the kicks,so this is really an interesting match up ,if Alister Overeem could fight the same game plan he used against junior dos santos he could very well win this match.

I am also looking for the match up against CM punk and Mickey Gall, every one is writing off CM punk here, but i am going to bet for him as i do think he could win this match and in the big stage experience does favor punk here as he has performed for big crowds in his career in WWE.

Thanks tokeweed for posting the details of UFC 203, searching yesterday if you already posted this thread. By the way my predictions for the upcoming matches.

Stipe Miocic (15-2) vs.  Alistair Overeem (41-14) (Heavyweight Championship) - Stipe Miocic by TKO (punch) round two
Fabricio Werdum (20-6-1) vs.  Travis Browne (18-4-1) (Heavyweight) - Fabricio Werdum a unanimous decision again (Maybe Browne will get his revenge/TKO round 2)
CM Punk (0-0) vs.  Mickey Gall (2-0) (Welterweight) - it's a hard call for this one but I'll go for CM Punk by submission
Urijah Faber (33-9) vs.  Jimmie Rivera (19-1) (Bantamweight) -  Urijah Faber by unanimous decision

- Ben Rothwell was expected to face former heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum at this event. However on August 11, Rothwell pulled out due to injury. A team representative said he may have suffered a torn meniscus and could have an ACL injury. He was replaced by Travis Browne. This will be a rematch as Werdum defeated Browne via unanimous decision at UFC on Fox: Werdum vs. Browne in 2014.

This could have been a great match between Ben Rothwel and Fabricio Werdum, too bad Ben Rothwel suffered an injury. Cant say who is better between Fabricio Werdum and Travis Browne. Looking at Travis Browne fight history, hes got a win and lose record but he suffered a lost with Cain Velasquez only last UFC 200 via TKO.

Yeah.  But I would have loved to see Junior dos Santos take the spot instead of Browne.  It might make for a better fight and match up.

Anyway here are a couple of videos in anticipation of the event.  Enjoy!

Miocic have an impressive performance on his last fight with Werdum at UFC 198. Miocic is ahead in odd with Overeem withjust a few points but I'm quite positive that Miocic will beat Overeem on this fight. After watching Fight Night with Arlovski vs Barnett on the main card, looking forward for Barnett Vs Miocic in months to come.
Miocic VS Overeem is very interest UFC match, but I sure Overeem will be win in this match. Miocic is very good in stand fight but Overeem is good for stand and wrestling, Overeem also more power than Miocic. I predict this match not more 3 rounds and Overeem will be winner.

This will be an easy task for Stipe Miocic, TKO in round 2. Actually I would like to watch CM Punk's debut battle on MMA against Mickey Gal, some people might think this is a just a circus but this will be a good match for sure. I watched some Punk's training and sparring videos, I should say not bad though even he lose, it's a stepping stone career for him to strive harder in the MMA world.

Joe Rogan has a pretty nice preview that was put up on Youtube recently

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lkh7ppIv8Bk

definitely worth a watch if your interested in Punk or considering betting on the
fight.

This was recently announced and fight will be held at Cleveland Ohio on September 10.
Stipe Miocic just came out from a very convincing win over Fabricio Werdum while Alistair Overeem came from a win as well with Andre Arlovski.
Both fighters shows last loss was way back 2014 but Alistair Overeem's record shows he is on a 4 winning streak.

While I am convinced with how Stipe Miocic handled Fabricio Werdum but I cant see that coming when he faced Alistair Overeem .
