Hard to tell between Conor and Ferguson because Conor's mic skills are seemingly too deceiving. He even had me fooled he could KO Mayweather. Cheesy but aside that, yeah he's now got Diaz in his head and thinks of Ferguson as "just another fight" maybe. Again, to me, the match-up seems like it's evenly poised

There were articles about Conor's tweet that his next fight might be versus Tony Ferguson. The tweet was a caricature of Conor as Tony Montana of the movie Scar Face with the caption Tony.

I reckon that is all the clue we need, but when will it be?
It is going to be a great fight if Conor McGregor accept the challenge and defend his first belt in his entire career.  Cheesy Till now he has not defended any of his belts he won throughout his career and if he defends it now,it will be a feather in his cap . Grin The division is filled with killers and i want to see if he could over come Tony and then Khabib will be waiting after that.  Smiley

I'm surprised no one is comparing Tony Ferguson to Nate Diaz. They both have similar toughness and durability. McGregor couldn't finish Nate. There's a chance McGregor won't be able to finish Tony Ferguson either. If that's the case, it could be another 5 round war like the 2nd Nate vs Conor fight was.

Kevin Lee's boxing was much improved in his fight with Ferguson. Kevin Lee sparred with Floyd Mayweather to help him prepare for Conor's MMA style of boxing. Tony Ferguson didn't look as good as he normally does, its because Kevin Lee is very good & underrated in a lot of the things he does.
Kevin Lee is really young and this loss could make him understand the difference between mat experience and understanding of the ground game ,Kevin Lee has a really good ground game but Tony Ferguson knew what Kevin lee had to offer when on the ground when he escaped the arm bar in the first attempt by rolling and that quickly registered and in his next attempt trapped him and was a clinical performance.Tony is a freestyle fighter and he will improvise during the match and when Lee was bursting through in the first two rounds he was patient as he knew his time will come.

@jaytiesto. I want Conor vs Tony Ferguson. Fighting Nate would be entertaining but that will not reinforce Conor's position as the lightweight champion.

Also who is the best of the 3 for you, Nate, Tony or Khabib?

I don't know I think all of them are interesting and will have huge drama behind it which is always fun for the build up.

Khabib is probaly the hardest fight and would be a big show if it's in Russia.

Nate because of the trilogy thing.

Ferguson because Conor would prove if he can defend a belt.

So all good fights in my book.

Dana White says that Nate Diaz trilogy against Conor McGregor is internet bullshit. The match that makes sense now is going to be Tony Ferguson vs Conor McGregor.

Of course McGregor has enough power in UFC now to choose who he fights so he might disagree with that. To be honest any of the 3 fights will be fun to watch.

From reading all your comments, I reckon many of you are now starting to doubt Conor's ability in fighting after his embarrassing debut in boxing.

Tony Ferguson will be knocked out if he fights Conor. Conor is faster and a very strong puncher, while Tony is easily hit when he charges. This clearly plays well in Conor's counter attacks.

Tony Ferguson has actually a reach a bit longer than Nate Diaz. It's 76.5 in (194 cm) for Ferguson and 76.0 in (193 cm) for Diaz. Ferguson is 5'11'' and Nate is 6'0''. I think the extra reach for Ferguson is the best physical advantage. Height is good for extra weight and ground game but with Conor I don't see it going to the ground.

I think it may be a similar fight with Nate Diaz, but Ferguson may try to get a takedown and end it up like the first Diaz fight.. it is a tricky fight.

I want to see Khabib or Ferguson fight Conor, both are good.

I think Ferguson is more awkward and make a lot of movement as compare to Diaz. But Diaz for me is more tougher. But I agree that the fight couldn't end in a KO but a back and forth if Conor would face Ferguson. Really hard to see how the fight ends and yes its gonna be tricky indeed. Although that kind of awkwardness, being lanky will play a role in the latter part of the fight. I don't know but Conor says he is wants the Diaz fight. So I guess let Khabib and Ferguson push their fight and the winner facing Conor whatever the outcome of his fight with Diaz.

I miss to watch the fight but my prediction and analysis favor to Ferg for a win. I have no doubt that Tony would win this fight, based on the fight result
it lasted for 3 rounds via submission, good job Tony ! But i doubt that Ferg and Mcgregor match would not gonna happen earlier next year. Ferg is inferior for McGregor's fighting skills.

I did watch previous fight of Tony Ferguson, although he is a freak of nature, he has also this ability to be hit just like in the Abel fight. If Conor hits him like that he will be KO for sure. I think Conor is leaning towards Diaz fight again. So I doubt that Conor - Ferguson will happen. However, I favor Conor to win if they face in the ring. Conor stand up skills will overcome Tony's aggressiveness. Both of them are tall and awkward, but Conor is just above them all in terms of skills. I'm sure that Conor will KO Tony.

I watched Tony Ferguson vs Lee live, IF Ferguson fight McGregor, McGregor will win 100%. Ferguson is like no def on that match against Lee, Lee is good on the first round but gassed on 2nd round and dead on 3rd round. Ferguson is good on recovery and ground battle though. But if he fight against McGregor, pretty sure mcgregor win.

Kevin Lee did pretty good. I wonder to what extent that infection on his chest was draining his energy. I would like to see a rematch, but for sure, the big match right now is McGregor vs Fergusson. He called him out, the drama is now ready for this match to happen. McGregor said that he wanted to fight again this year and he wanted Khabib tho, so im not sure if we will see this fight happen before Khabib.

I hope McGregor still shines in the UFC after getting beaten in boxing by TBE. Hopefully there was no brain damage on the boxing match because he got hit a bunch of times on the late rounds.

Tony Ferguson fought Kevin well but he got hit a few times with strong punches in the head because of his carelessness. He cannot be that overconfident versus Conor if he gets a real title shot. Conor can knock him out in the 1st round. I see some people in the thread are making the mistake in thinking  that Conor is avoiding fights in MMA after his boxing match.

^ If you saw Ferguson's post fight interview, that's what exactly what his camp's plan was.  Get Lee to be aggro in the beginning and make him tired as the match rolls on.  Lee faded by the third.
So what's next for Tony Ferguson?  I think McGregor is gonna dodge this guy.
It is really hard for McGregor to duck Tony Ferguson now ,he is lucky he does not have to face khabib Nurmagomedov now as i was waiting for a showing between them, this was a really good card with many interesting fights and i am impressed with the submission of Demetrious Johnson as i have not seen that kind of arm bar,it was awesome and really difficult to pull off against a trained opponent ,i did not noticed the change of opponent in Werdum as he schooled the new guy,Tony sticked to his game plan and Kevin Lee lacked in condition and it looked like as he was not prepared for a five round battle,i lost my bet in Mara Romero Borella v Kalindra Faria as i was rooting for Faria to win a good battle and the result was opposite.

There is no doubt about it that Tony Ferguson would sure win, even if Kevin lee was a younger competitor than Tony Ferguson I think Ferguson has the upper hand you can see from the number of his fight the number of wins than Kevin, Although Lee has a change in winning in this fight Ferguson has a lot of experience in the ring no doubt about it and winning against a Submission the triangle choke, giving Kevin lee 3 lost congrats to the winners of this bet.

Its over. Tony Ferguson submitted Lee. And the panel of experts here are all correct in their prediction (including me  Grin). That Tony will win by submission. I haven't seen the fight but I read that Kevin was leading in the scorecards but it looks like his is strategy is to take out Tony early. Maybe he felt that he will not last 5 rounds because of the issue on his weight cut. But unfortunately, Tony caught him. He is now the interim LW champion. Congrats.

Hmm. They reason why they missed the weight in his first attempt is that they have "mistimed" it? LOL. What kind of reason is that? You are a pro and this small things make or break a fighter. And Lee even admitted that he had hard time making the weight cut. I believed that they is a big factor and will really show as the fight goes on. I believed that Tony has a good stamina right? I'm sure he will fight standing up and test how Lee's stamina is as the fight progress. History tells us that fighters who have difficulty making the weight usually losses. I don't know if this will holds true with Lee. The interim belt is on the line so let's see how the fight will end.

^ Yup.  Ferguson was teasing Lee on the missing weight at the first attempt, saying it was 'unprofessional'.  But it's good to see for him to make it and the fight is still on.

Lee looks very emotional and this usually doesn't end well as it could cloud his decision making.  But at other times it could give him an edge, just like Garbardt did with Cruz.  We'll see...

@Hydrogen. Kevin Lee will lose by submission. Look at the stats, Tony has 81% in takedown defense  and Kevin Lee has a tendency of making desperate takedown attempts when he sees his original game plan is not working. Tony could then submit him by means of the darce.

You can't never count Kevin Lee out. I think it will be a good match. Sure, Tony Ferguson is a beast and always the favorite, but Kevin Lee is an hungry young lion. He lost a year ago tho, while Ferguson didn't lost since 2013.

Anyway this card is a solid one for a change, so many mediocre cards lately in UFC. I want to see the winner of this fight Connor.

Here's an attempt at a breakdown of the main event.

Kevin Lee's kickboxing hasn't served him well in the past. He was TKO'ed by Leonardo Santos. Francisco Trinaldo landed a good left hand that put Kevin Lee on wobbly legs, nearly finishing him. While Kevin Lee trains boxing in Floyd Mayweather Jr's boxing gym, he hasn't shown the type of savvy one might expect from a big name gym in his stand up striking skills.

Based on what we've seen so far, wrestling is Kevin Lee's best chance of winning the fight.

Tony Ferguson is a state and national NCAA division 2 champion in wrestling. On paper, Ferguson is the better wrestler. MMA being a completely different sport from greco/freestyle wrestling, complicates things. One thing that separates mixed martial arts from other sports is the tremendous leaps in skill athletes can make in a very short time simply by changing their nutrition plans, switching coaches/gyms and taking a different approach to things.

Ferguson should be the betting favorite but as has happened to often in the past, the underdog has good chances of winning if they work hard, up their game and find a better approach to training and how they do things.

How does everyone see the fights panning out?

Paige Van Zant pulled out of her fight with Jessica Eye on a back injury.

Kevin Lee was hurt by punches in his fights with Leonardo Santos and Francisco Trinaldo. Don't know if Kevin Lee's gameplan will be to kickbox with Tony Ferguson. Kevin Lee hasn't had a lot of success with his striking of late. I have a feeling Kevin Lee might go for the takedown and try to out-wrestle El Cucuy. That could be his only chance to win the fight.

BTW guys did Derrick Lewis say he had some type of severe injury & that was the reason he had trouble in his fight with Mark Hunt?

As far as I can remember he said that he re-injured his back that why he perform poorly in their fight with Mark Hunt.

Yeah, too bad we are not going to see Paige Van Zant because of a herniated disc, but its good to her that she needed surgery. Ample rest is enough, so we might see her back by the end of the year.

I really don't know what's Kevin strategy here, if he kickbox Tony, one way or another he will be caught and be submitted. If he goes striking, I think Tony has advantage on it, so that strategy would backfire on him.

Over 5 rounds i strongly favour Ferg. I have two issues with Lee:
-Hes chinny he gets dropped every bloody fight and i think he only shoots doubles.
-He also has pretty bad standup. Trinaldo was stuffing his doubles pretty easily.
Now over five rounds theres gonna come a point where Ferg stuffs a few especially if hes all over Lee standing and Lee starts shooting desperate doubles. Once that happens welcome to snap down city.

^ I don't even think Mcgregor is gonna defend his LW championship anymore.  I know about the story of McGregor telling Dana White about fighting Khabib in Russia, but I think McGregor has moved on.  A third fight vs Nate Diaz is more likely.  And I hope it's in the boxing ring.  Grin
after that Mayweather fight I think he's going to look for more money instead of more popularity, he already gain a lots of millions so
why he will fight without any big cash behind, unless UFC promoters will tie up with big mafia outside the ring and offer big money
for him to fight.

They are actually scheduled to face one another at UFC 209 for the Interim title. However, Khabib was having issues cutting weight, which landed him at the hospital. And even after he was released, he was not medically cleared by doctors to fight on, so the fight was totally scraped. And that's why the fight was cancelled and instead its re-scheduled but this time its between Tony and Kevin. For sure the winner between the two will call out Khabib to see the best LW right now.

The fight already started even if the two hasn't really fought in the ring. Its in the twitter sphere. If you have followed those two, they are going at it for months now before the actual scheduled fight. Unfortunately, because of the weight cut issues of Nurmagomedov, the fight is off. Let's see if this 3 gonna beat the hell out of each other before facing Connor, who is sitting with his millions now.

So finally we are going to see Johnson vs Borg. And D. Johnson is aiming for a record 11th title defense. However, I don't see anything that Borg can offer against Johnson. The champion has successful defended his title that he has shown a lot of fighter and can readily adjust to them. Easy pick here. But as far as the main event is concern. I still think the Kevin Lee can beat Tony Ferguson, if he was able to grapple and take Tony down. That's the best strategy to beat a massive LW like Tony. Take him and wear him down.

It would not be easy for Kevin Lee to take Tony down. He has an 81% in takedown defense and he is one of he most durable fighters in the UFC.  Grapplers also fell victim to his d'arce choke in some of his fights.

Tony will win and I reckon he will go after Conor next.

Exactly, Tony has one of the best take down defense and if Kevin's strategy is too take him down, then it will take him a lot of effort because not only with the take down defense, but Tony is also big. So weight + good defense will not be good. He should fight stand up and look for angles. But again, Tony is also good standing up, with his powerful kicks as well. So its gonna be a uphill battle if Kevin wants to really win this fight.

On a side note: Why does Paige Van Zant still fight? She should be a model and not ruin that beautiful face and body  Grin. LOL

Some notes on this event.

-Fabricio Werdum and Jessica Eye could have injuries that haven't 100% healed. I think Werdum's injury was his back and Jessica Eye might have hurt her neck.

-This will be both Jessica Eye and Paige Van Zant's first fights @ 125 lbs. Jessica Eye fought at 135 lbs and PVZ fought at 115 lbs. Will be interesting to see if that makes a difference.

-Pearl Gonzalez had troubled being cleared to fight in new york due to her breast implants. At one point her fight was canceled before it was given final approval. Hopefully she won't have issues with that this time around.

-Paige Van Zant said she would pass out unconscious trying to make the 115 pound weight limit. She also might have been too small to fight at 135 pounds. Maybe the 125 lb class will be the right fit.

-This could be Paige Van Zant's first fight not training 100% at team alpha male. PVZ moved out to oregen to be closer to her family and is training more with Chael Sonnen and whatever the MMA gym in that area is, might be formerly Team Quest.

-Kevin Lee was one of Floyd Mayweather's sparring partners in preparation for Floyd's recent fight with Conor McGregor.

Thanks for opening again @tokeweed

Tony Ferguson vs Kevin Lee winner could face Conor Mcgregor. On paper its looks like no one has the advantage, and both of them are in a winning streak. But I consider Ferguson all the tools and complete fighter against Kevin Lee. This is a exciting fight and could turn out to be a fight of the year candidate if the two will slug it out like they typically do in their previous fight. I really like Kevin Lee but he is no match with Tony here, its gonna be close but Tony will become the victor in the score cards. UD for him.

Im not sure about that. Conor McGregor said he wanted to fight again this year. He told to Dana White that he wanted Khabib on Russia after the Mayweather fight. Im not sure if he was serious or not, I guess hew as knowing how he is never scared to fight anyone, but what I doubt is Dana White letting him fight Khabib in Russia risking a fatal loss. Khabib is a beast, but you can never count Conor McGregor out.

Ferguson vs Lee will be one of the best fights of the years nonetheless, unless of course, something happens and once again another big main card gets ruined. That would be the nail in the coffin for the UFC. This year has been so bad.

Nah, I don't think Conor will fight Khabib in Russia very risky. But the fight I wanted him to do is with either Ferguson or Khabib. Don't like him doing a fight with Diaz again.

Pretty stack up card I might say. Ferguson vs Lee is a dream match. Really hard to say who has the edge, or if someone has, it will quickly negate by the other side. But I'm slightly favoring Ferguson simply because he is the better attacker between the two although has a better percentage on submissions. I'm seeing a KO win for Tony here.

This is one hell of a good match up to watch. IMO, it will be a real hard battle for Kevin Lee. I've already watched a few fights and highlights from Ferguson and I can say that he is a real puncher and he display a good solid frontal kicks. If only Kevin could reach and take down Ferguson on the early stages of the fight, he will have greater chance to defeat him. He'll just need to protect himself from those hard punches and win the fight.

- Abel Trujillo was expected to face Lando Vannata at the event. However, Trujillo was removed from the card on August 14 for undisclosed reasons and was replaced by Bobby Green on August 14.

- A women's flyweight bout between promotional newcomers Andrea Lee and Kalindra Faria was expected to be a late addition to this event, as it was announced on September 28. However a few hours later, it was revealed that Lee was pulled from the contest as she didn't go through the USADA testing pool for six months. Usually short notice fights do not need to follow such rule, but since she has failed a drug test in the past, Lee must fulfill that requirement. Faria is expected to remain on the event as of now.
