$100 million is still quite small when you compare those to the earnings by professional boxers such as Floyd Mayweather and Gennady Golovkin. According to the latest stats, career earnings by Mayweather is well over $1 billion. And I really doubt whether Conor will get $100 million from two fights. My guess is much lower.

@Baofeng. Fedor did not make a lot of money I reckon. Most MMA fighters of his era were not paid as high as they are paid in the UFC these days.

I expect Conor's retirement after making another $100 million from fighting Khabib and Nate Diaz hehe.

Maybe Fedor has made a lot of money back then that's why he retire or past his prime already that's why he decided to just call it quit. For Conor, I don't think we will retire, maybe @SaShiRaJaVu is joking when he said that. Although he can also do it because the fight with Floyd is his biggest payday up to date, saw him in youtube driving with a new and customized sports car, thanks to Floyd. lol.

Conor McGregor is only 29 and you want him to retire from the MMA if he loses to Khabib? But from what I have seen, if you lose just one match then your morale will take a hit and it is going to be very difficult to get back to the winning mode. This is what happened to Fedor Emelianenko after he lost that match to Fabrício Werdum.

I still think that Khabib has a high chance to win and beat Conor more than Tony is. I have nothing against Tony, but Khabib is a different animal and can overwhelm Conor in my opinion.

I think Tony and Khabib will beat Conor and then he could retire for good from MMA  or he will go down and challenge the 145 pound champion once again, but there is also a change that after two defeats he will call out Paulie for a boxing match. . Lesnar and Conor are the biggest pay per view stars and i think the record is with Lesnar .

That's going to be really an interesting fight because of the matchup made with them. Hopefully they could give a great match for us to watch. Rooting for McGregor though.

Even if the fight is going to happen in Madison Square Garden, I expect Khabib to win. Right now he is in unbelievable form and no matter how talented McGregor is, he is going to have a tough time against the Russian anywhere in the world.

But during the fight with Aldo, dos Anjos and Alvarez, Conor is the top pick to win. Or maybe you are betting for the underdog to win and beat Conor. hehehe.

But we still have Tony and Khabib. Maybe one of them can win against Conor, who knows. I don't know if is will be the biggest fight in history if they ever fight in Russia, but hey, the 4 out of 5 top selling UFC PPV's was headlined by Conor(except #2 Lesnar vs Mir) and he still holds the record against Nate.

I really cannot imagine the beating Khabib Nurmagomedov is going to give to McGregor, but the problem is i never expected him to win against Aldo but he smoked him in seconds and when he was challenging Rafael dos Anjos for the title i was certain that he will smoke McGregor but that fight failed to materialized and finally when it came to Eddie Alvarez i thought he will defeat McGregor but the opposite happened, now my only hope is Khabib and Tony.
It would be the biggest fight in history if they fight in Russia, but with things are going it looks like they will face in Madison Square Garden by November, if McGregor really wanted to face Khabib.

If the fight is in Russia, then I am afraid that Conor McGregor will be going back to Dublin in an ambulance (either dead or alive). Nurmagomedov is invincible in home conditions and it will be fun if the fight actually happens in Grozny.

Edit: Just remembered that Nurmagomedov is an Avar from Dagestan. He won't be very keen to fight in Grozny.... What about Makhachkala as the venue?

When I saw the news, and in the social media about that, I think it was already staged. I think that it was to get to hype up for the fight. Well, we will never know what the possibility is for the match, but they need more audience to earn more money.

I am starting to think the incident was staged.

Artem was supporting McGregor on why he is not defending the title and how Conor fought Chad Mendis even with injury and he added that Khabib is the real chicken as he used to pull out of fights because of injures and that were his words in a russian podcast interview


Artem is still in the UFC simply because he is a team member of Conor, his record is 2 wins and 4 defeats

The real plan was to come during the media briefing but they were late and so is the reason the current situation happened in the parking lot. Conor just acted like a crack head and it looks like UFC is not planning to suspend him for his actions and they might even book him against Khabib for the biggest pay day in UFC history, the total gate for the event was three million dollars which is the best show they had this year and that too with a lot of fights cancelled.

Of course he is still in the United States.
That is where the hollywoodization of the world is and the money.
Just look at what Rhonda Rousey did after losing her belt.
Ending up in the WWE and starting out in a Wrestlemania main event and submission hold on Triple H aint bad.

Staged or not, the drama built up for Conor versus Khabib is now set. I hope the fight will be in Russia on September hehehe.

I'm surprised Artem said anything to Khabib. Artem has a tendency to freeze against wrestlers/grapplers and go into survival mode. Khabib is one of the worst possible match ups for Artem.

I don't know if he can destroy Conor but it will be interesting to see those 2 fighters squaring off. Well as MMA fans, this is want we have been wanting to see for years but Khabib got injured and Conor fights goes to boxing to make more money.

Is he still in the US though? I thought he went back already but I might be wrong. UFC might be thinking a lot this days and trying to figure out the best way to make a lot of money from this diva (Conor). I'm sure that Dana will not just simply removed from the roster, suspension will be enough in my opinion.

The case with Artem Lobov is different, as he was talking a ton of shit about Khabib and calling him chicken in an Russian interview and that is the reason Khabib questioned this when they met in the hotel lobby and now it is a big drama show, even though the UFC lost some fights because of the altercation i am sure this will be the biggest pay per view fight and it will be a big one for them and they even started promoting the fight.

Correct mate, there's is also rumor that Khabib cornered Conor's team mate asking why he doesn't want to face Khabib (well we don't know if Conor doesn't want to fight Khabib or still hyping the fight).


Maybe Dana that this drama will bring a lot of money in the table when all the suspensions and court hearings are done and Conor goes back to UFC and fight again. Him paying for the damages is nothing compare to the money he made with Floyd's fight so I think he can cover it. They are all business man so sooner or later when everything is calm down, we will see the drama unfold on the octagon itself, Khabib vs Conor, to break all UFC PPV records.

Story so far: Conor was stripped of both the UFC featherweight belt @ 145 lbs and the lightweight belt @ 155 lbs. He is mad about that. Then Khabib and his team cornered Conor's teammate, Artem Lobov and there is a video clip of Khabib lightly slapping Artem on the head floating around youtube. Afterward Conor flew from ireland to new york to throw things through the windows of Khabib's bus in retaliation.

I think Conor's court hearing is in june or july 2018. He'll have to return to new york and face whatever charges people file against him. Initially Dana White said Conor would be sued to the full extent of the law. Later on, Dana seemed to calm down and said what Conor did wasn't as bad as things which happen in other sports. I don't think Conor will be sued too badly the damage he inflicted didn't seem too severe. Michael Chiesa got a few small cuts. And Ray Borg might have gotten glass in his eye. Don't think either injuries were too bad though.

I don't also think it was staged, Conor is just crazy  . I am curious to see what Dana White will do with this, probably fine Conor and suspend him but I don't think they will kick him out of the UFC. Conor is still the money making machine in the UFC even though he hasn't fighted in more than a year now.

Agree. I don't think that it is staged as well. It already involves the police here and his mugshot all over the web right now. Maybe Conor is getting out of hand now, with all the money he earn from that fight against Floyd Mayweather.

Bad luck for Dana though, it will really cost him and the company not just only money but the reputation they have put throughout the years. This is not WWE, I understand this is business, but sometimes you have to put some distance with your fighters under contract. He's their current superstar that brings lot of money in the table, so its gonna be interesting as to what direction UFC will go here.

It's gonna cost him though. They are going to use him not only for the injuries but also lost opportunities for a fight = lost fame, breach of contract, and so on. He can also get kicked out of UFC or suspended (more likely suspended). I don't think it was worth it. He went too far this time, didn't think.

After Conor McGregor fought inside the boxing ring I lose trust in him or maybe to the whole boxing industry and UFC because dignity as a fighter is not an issue to them anymore for as long as they get a big paycheck at the end of the day. Entertainment at its finest, you can really feel who is true and not nowadays, let them do what they want though but only those gullible will believe this shits.

I would say it was a close fight and i gave rounds first and second to Rose but three and four is won by Joanna Jedrzejczyk and the fifth one was a close one, but how on earth these judges got 49-46 even, i think the late take down by Rose in the fifth round sealed that round for her, but the scoring is just bull shit. When it comes to Khabib i do not understand why he was standing and trading in third and fourth round, he was popping in jabs but he showed some vulnerability in this fight.
 

Lost my JJ bet.  Now wonder her line was fading...  But it's nice to see Namajunas finally becoming undisputed champ.  Now we can say her win vs JJ is now fluke.  GJ Nama.  I will be looking forward in warching more of her bouts.

I did not find this incident interesting, if he is really a tough guy, he should have proved that by accepting the fight rather than injuring other fighters and making a big mess, in the beginning this was one of the best cards and now three fights are already dropped just because of this hooliganism and i am sure   Al Iaquinta is not prepared to fight Khabib even though i was picking him for winning the bout against Paul Felder.

It wasn't staged as they arrested him and he lost any championships he held because he did want to fight his last contender that wanted to fight him as he declined a matchup to defend it.

I guess its confirmed because aside from CBS Sports reporting that its Al Iaquinta who will fight Nurmagomedov, I also checked UFC profile of Al Al Iaquinta and it now shows his upcoming fight which is with Khabib Nurmagomedov. Its a very short notice and if Al Iaquinta can pull this one off then his name will be in the history books.

Ferguson was out for UFC 223 due to freakin' knee injury and he will be replaced by Max Holloway it is another misfortune of Dana White's UFC MMA fight ticket.  Nurmagomedov quoted on instagram about Ferguson "Tony heal up man. Just want to advise you, don’t talk too much anymore. Lot of thoughts in my head right now, but I don’t want to become like you. Hope, this lesson will teach you watch your mouth."

I thought max was injured. I hope the usual max Holloway shows up, if he does I think he can take this one and shock the world. If max can keep his distance and avoid the take down then he can easily take khabib on the feet, but that’s a big if when it comes to avoiding the take down.

There is no one in the division that could make this much interest than a super fight with the champion Holloway. The freak accident sucks without a doubt and i really do not want to comment in this thread till the last day because i did not want this fight to be moved again and still it is not going to happen in the near future.

This is not the Wwe to script the winner.  If Max Holloway could somehow win this fight it would be against two double champions one reigning and the other retired.  as McNuggets has no plans to fight top competition especially Khabib and Tony.

Dana White said he will "never" book Tony Ferguson vs Khabib Nurmagomedov again. Dana has tried to make this fight happen since 2016.

I'm not happy Max Holloway took this fight. Was hoping another lightweight could step up on short notice. Tony Ferguson sounded very bitter, almost like the fight was over in some of the recent press conferences(like the one Tokeweed posted in this thread on march 29th) . I wonder if Ferguson was injured days or weeks ago, and they're only reporting it now that they've finally found a replacement. The timing for the news release on April 1st, April Fool's Day seems like a publicity stunt.

Oh well, its been two weeks since we've had a UFC event. At least the MMA drought will finally come to an end.

I can already see a conspiracy here to favor Conor hehehe.

Dana White will make sure that Max Holloway wins and becomes a double champion in the lightweight and featherweight divisions. Then on December 29, 2018 in UFC 239, Conor will challenge Max and Dana will make sure that this time Conor wins and makes him a double champion once again.

This is frustrating. After waiting for many days for the Nurmagomedov vs Ferguson fight, now we have Nurmagomedov vs Holloway. I mean no disrespect to Max Holloway. He is a very good fighter. But I don't like his technique and IMO he is no match for Nurmagomedov.

Nurmagomedev I think has the edge here as this is probably his biggest fight to date and it is also a title bout. You can't also say that he is an underdog as if you look at his fight record most of his wins are from Submissions and TKOs which means a lot. Their fight between him and Ferguson are expected since 2015 and now it is really happening, this is one of the things you want to watch as they are both excellent fighters, but between them I would be leaning over to Khabib who would be winning the fight.

@SaShiRaJaVu. I speculate that Dana is already setting up his storyboard for one of the biggest fights for 2019. If Joanna wins her belt back and Valentina wins the women's flyweight championship, then we might see a champion versus champion match up for both.

Also, from what I have seen from Joanna, she might want to get 1 win back hehehe.

Valentina Shevchenko is my favorite fighter in the women's division after Cyborg and Valentina has three wins over Jedrzejczyk and she was fighting against bigger opponents in Bantamweight division and with the new division open in the UFC she is the future champion in Flyweight division and i do not see anyone challenging her in that division as it is the right division for her size.

@Hydrogen. I agree that Rose has come a long way since the Ultimate Fighter, but I highly disagree that Joanna is overrated.

Joanna may not have the power to knock out her opponents, but her skills are very exceptional, not only in her division, but as a pound for pound comparison against the rest. Including the men's divisions.

Also, I like Rose but Joanna will get her belt back.

Namajunas has come a long way since losing the ultimate fighter finale against Carla Esparza for the 115 lb title. I think somewhere along the line, Valentina Shevchenko and Rose Namajunas began training/sparring together. Also Rose seems to have tightened up her diet and nutrition game which improved her cardio dramatically over where it was in the past, where she used to fade and slow down in her fights. Rose could have come a long way and progressed a lot.

Jedrzejczyk's kickboxing was overrated imo. I think before Jedrzejczyk moved to american top team her kickboxing was better than Karolina's but not by a lot. Valentina vs Joanna could be a good rematch in MMA as its been said Valentina is 3-0 against Joanna in kickboxing.

This is going to be interesting indeed. Namajunas isn't a good fighter, lacking the skill, especially in the punches. You could see it in her fight with  VanZant which she barely won against a fighter that is more of a celebrity than a fighter. Jedrzejczyk was always a great boxer. In that last fight she wasn't herself. Very slow, got outplayed, that's it. I hope she'll show more this time.

@Baofeng. You have it wrong. Khabib is the more basic fighter, but has the best wrestling in all of MMA today. While Tony has more tools than Khabib, and the more acrobatic fighter doing flips and other strange technics on the mat.

But would that be enough to beat Khabib? I reckon, no. I base this from the Micheal Johnson and the Edson Barboza fights.

Right the odds where pretty much closer then. I think Khabib is the favorite because he is really a different fighter and we have been anticipating this fight for so long that every one is really pump about it.

I will go with Khabib here, he has too much tools in his arsenal that Tony needs to overcome. I think Khabib's wrestling will be put into display once again.

Karolina hasn't looked good in a long time. She is a former contender but after losing to Joanna and being finished by Claudia Gadelha in 1 round, it seems as if her confidence has suffered. Her kickboxing never looked great, one of her biggest strengths was her cardio. Now that other athletes are improving their dieting and nutrition and can match her pace, Karolina isn't as successful(although she does look great in a bikini). I think Karolina is falling behind in the training area. She's not improving her skills as time passes, if anything she might be regressing and getting worse over time.

Felice Herrig on the other hand, has improved. I think a lot of people thought Felice had a tremendously bad attitude and negative mentality from her time on the ultimate fighter. Not 100% certain on that. Felice might seem like a big drop in competition for Karolina but don't count Felice Herrig out!

@Hydrogen. What about Karolina Kowalkiewicz versus Felice Herrig? That fight should have a slot in the main card and it deserves more attention than Michael Cheisa versus Anthony Pettis, I reckon.

Also there's drama. Karolina is fighting to be back for a title contention slot while Felice is trying to break in the top 5 and do a championship campaign of her own. It's a more competitive match up.

Forgot to mention, Ray Borg versus Brandon Moreno is an interesting match up for a few different reasons.

Ray Borg is known primarily for his wrestling and scrambling ability. Brandon Moreno isn't as established a grappler/wrestler as Ray Borg. BUT in the past I think Moreno has been trained by Henry Cejudo and been a training/sparring partner of Moreno. So while most might expect Ray Borg to have the advantage in wrestling, it is possible Moreno could have the better wrestling credentials in terms of who he trains with.

I have a feeling the next two weeks could pass slowly and a lot of people appear to be hoping and praying that neither Khabib nor Tony Ferguson are injured so we can see them fight(unlike the last time). Haha.

I watched Khabib's technique in youtube and there's one guy who analyze his every movement and it seems he combine a lot of techniques by greats like GSP and others. I'm still undecided though. Lol. But for sure I'm gonna be betting on this one and I want to see the odds before making my final call.

@btc_angela. I reckon it is more than doing a mental thing. Tony has thinner and weaker legs compared to his fellow fighters. If you watch his fights from before, you would notice that he would easily be swept away from the leg kicks done on him.

Also, I predict that Khabib's wrestling will be too much for Tony. After watching his fight versus Edson Barboza, it already made impression on what might occur on Khabib versus Tony.

Nurmagomedov is a straight up beast. I think he will beat Ferguson. Fantastic last fights, being unbeaten is something that only a few can achieve. Go Nurma!

I'll be watching Ferguson vs Nurmagomedov. Fights between Russians and the Americans are always enjoyable and Khabib Nurmagomedov is someone who has remained undefeated till now. I am also interested in the second Russia vs US match (Caceres vs Lobov), although I am not sure whether anyone will be livestreaming it.

During an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Dana White officially stated that the fight between Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov would be for official lightweight championship belt, not the interim title, as long as both fighters remained healthy and made weight.

But there was also a press conference 2 months ago where Dana said he will not strip Conor out of his lightweight title and that we should wait for April 7 to see what happens.

Are we supposed to be excited, because I am very confused.

I speculate that we might see a publicity stunt like Conor going in the octagon, with his own belt, challenging the winner like what the WWE wrestlers do hehehe.

She was defeated clean and she just wanted to make an excuse for her loss,if she is the champion she has to make sure that she is on weight rather than making it hard for her on the final day of weigh ins and blaming the loss for her weight cutting crew,the amount of trash she was speaking before the Rose fight was too much and she fell on her ass.

Anthony Pettis is the greatest disappointment after the introduction of drug testing,he was super invisible fighter before that and now he is just a mere reflection of his past wins but it is a good opportunity for Michael Chiesa to defeat a former champion and improve his rankings.

-Joanna Jedrzejczyk directed some of the blame for her last loss against Rose @ her nutrition and weight cutting crew. It will be interesting to see if that change makes a difference in the rematch.

-Calvin Kattar's last fight where he finished Shane Burgos via strikes was very impressive. He is a hot prospect atm for sure.

-There are some interesting contrasts in these fights. Michael Chiesa doesn't do well if he can't get his takedown. Anthony Pettis often doesn't do well if he is taken down. Evan Dunham has wrestled a lot in his last few fights. UFC matchmakers seem to have given him one of the best wrestlers in the division in a "test your might" mortal kombat type of thing.
