Poirier really exposes the weaker side of Holloway. Clearly he is outboxed, I was impressed how Holloway can take the punches, its like he doesn't realize where its coming from. The only fight that I did enjoy the most was that of Adesanya, I thought he is a goner already but came back with his striking. Its like the underdog won the biggest fight of his life.

What a outstanding performance by the young man "The Last Stylebender".
Can not go without saying congrads to Kelvin Gastelum who will be back and put on a good showing.
Israel 2.3 seems like a fairly nice pick for his next in Australia for "The Reaper".

Against Whitaker...?  Dunno.  It feels like it's gonna be close to a coin flip.  I'd happily take Whitaker as a slight underdog.  Let's hope the bookies get the lines wrong at open.  Grin

And still...  At a coin flip I'd still take Whitaker.

I really thought the judges would give it to Holloway at the end. I'm glad they didn't because Poirier deserved the win.
But damn... he should have finished that fight in round one or two. If he had had a decent ground game, it would have been over quickly.
After hitting the guy so many times in the face, just TAKE HIM DOWN !!!

I reckon Dana's new storyboard for the lightweight division would be Khabib versus Dustin and Tony Ferguson versus Justin Gaethje, and the winners of those 2 fights should be Khabib and Tony for the awaited superfight hehehe.

Also, one of the losers should fight Conor. I want Dustin versus Conor to rematch.

^  Just done watching the replay.  You could always download the torrent from TPB as a last resort.  Tho I would like everybody to know that I don't condone any form of digital piracy.  Wink

Anyway, AAAAWWWSSSOOOMMME MAIN EVENT!!! I can't say more except...  Welcome to LW Mr. Holloway, see you.  Bye!  Cheesy

I personally don't like this UFC event. Almost no KO in the whole night. Watches both belts fight saying "when...when...when..." but both of them ended with decisions.

Too bad Kelvin Gastelum run out of gas on the final rounds of his fight with Israel Adsensya. Israel Adsensya have the reach advantage by 8.5 inches and yet Kelvin Gastelum keeps on closing in and he is within reach of Israel Adsensya. One ting I noticed with Israel Adsensya is he is fast but his punching power is not enough to knock his opponents down. 4 of his 6 UFC wins came from Unanimous Decision.

^  I'd be betting on Poirier cos I think the line on Holloway is kinda steep.  But if it moved giving a bit more for Holloway, maybe 1.70ish - 1.80ish then that's gonna be some nice value for Holloway.

It was a good match for me and Max Holloway is no pushover that gives me chills just watching the fight But after the judge's decisions were made I can say that Poirier has the upper hand against Holloway even though Holloway was punching a straight punch Poirier had him with a crunching devasting punch well it was really a close fight and both men surely gave their all in the fight so I give respect for both of them,

Max Holloway is the bigger man but Poirier has the reach advantage, but if you are counting experience, Holloway is the champion at 145 and moving up the division for his next belt and how can you neglect that and he is riding a 13 fight winning streak that dates back from 2013 and his striking skills are excellent, i go for Max to win the fight if he is healthy.

I am counting the number of fights and not by the winning streak alone, And if you would really watch many fights in the past you will surely need to experience a lot of losses to really reach greatness, I can say that Poirier was really had some past experience because of his moves alone,

But all I can say is that both men were a great fighter and I was so shock just watching the fight and had the goosebumps because of their performance so I give them both respect and reaching the final rounds of the fight.

I missed the live event and i was not able to make a bet for this event as i was busy today, i have to watch the entire fights now and it looks like Israel Adesanya is poking Jon Jones which is a really really bad idea at this stage in his career as there is no one that could challenge Jones and that too from a fighter coming up in weight and Max Holloway finally lost a fight after a great run and finally Dustin Poirier became an interm champion.

I wasn't able to watch the fight, but from what I read, it was an explosive and very entertaining fight. But it was a UD win, meaning Dustin really did a lot of damage. So congrats to those who have pick Dustin to win. Personally, I'm on Max bandwagon, unfortunately, Dustin is his 'kryptonite'.

Kelvin Gastelum v Israel Adesanya

Gastelum is clearly the more balanced fighter and overall has a stronger ground game with more varied finishing power. Adesanya’s strategy relies more on striking and take down defence than does Gastelum’s. However, considering the great advantage in height and reach, we would predict that Gastelum could not get close enough to make an impact with his striking or finish a take down without it being countered and that it is likely that Adesanya will take the victory.

Israel Adesanya to win (1.53)

Adesanya could throw elbows too.  I think Gastelum could eat a couple good ones and cause some damage. And it's possible that Adesanya was putting more of a show than trying to finish Anderson Silva out of respect imo.  I think somebody already pointed it out in one of the UFC threads.

The Hawaiian is in top form and I dont see Porier able to keep up.
I don't agree. I predict that Poirier will defeat Holloway and win the championship even though Max is in great form currently. Max wants redemption, but he will end up getting more than what he bargained for at the end of the day.

Poirier all the way in my opinion.

The previous loss can sometimes make a fighter more resilient like that loss Connor got against Nate and turned it around the next time.
Maybe I see it in a different light because I like the underdogs and usually go with them. They are both very good fighters it's going to be a tough fight.

poirier was just that lucky that day max holloway during their first fight weren't equipped for ground fight but he must be this time. he will win this fight via flying knees and raining straights.

Poirier to win again for me but it’s not a sure thing. A Holloway win wouldn’t surprise me which would set up a deciding trilogy fight.

I’m just leading towards Poirier atm though.

yep a 3rd fight would make money money for Dana which is why its going to be fitting for max to win the fight via tko.

Looking forward to this weekend, there's even some fun matchups in the undercards for a change!

Does Cloudbet blog writes review for each UFC event ?

Btw, if you click on tags in the end of article. For example Bitcoin Sports Betting - you will get forwarded to the other page. But if you click on MMA or UFC - Boom! nothing happens. 404 Page error.

I've checked the blog, there are others review, so this tags should have worked.

Great spot, looks like there's something wrong with the tagging - I'll pass that on to our content team now!

We usually try to have blogs written for all the UFC events, and sometimes for the smaller fight night's too. Here's a couple of the previous ones:

- UFC 235
- UFC 234
- Fight Night 144

Looking forward to this weekend, there's even some fun matchups in the undercards for a change!

We've got tips for the top matchups at UFC 236 over at the Cloudbet blog, written by our guest writer, semi-pro MMA fighter Ernesta Bukauskaite:

Max Holloway v Dustin Poirier

Although Pourier has shown advancement and calibre as a fighter, Holloway is far more nuanced. His skillset is far more advanced and his natural reactions better. He has already dramatically and unquestionably proven himself in his own weight division. We believe that this time, Holloway may be victorious.

Max Holloway to win (1.46)

Kelvin Gastelum v Israel Adesanya

Gastelum is clearly the more balanced fighter and overall has a stronger ground game with more varied finishing power. Adesanya’s strategy relies more on striking and take down defence than does Gastelum’s. However, considering the great advantage in height and reach, we would predict that Gastelum could not get close enough to make an impact with his striking or finish a take down without it being countered and that it is likely that Adesanya will take the victory.

Israel Adesanya to win (1.53)

Nikita Krylov v Ovince Saint Preux

Both fighters are experienced and balanced in their skillsets. However, whilst St. Preux may have taken the victory last time, Krylov has shown progress and greater finishing power. We believe that this time Krylov will likely be the victor.

Nikita Krylov to win (1.85)

Check out the full blog here, including a full breakdown of the games above and the other undercards.

I'll be 'submitting' (geddit!) to our expert's opinion and going with a multi on the above (~4.13)  Wink

Initial notes

-Montel Jackson has been a professional MMA fighter for less than 2 years. He's accomplished some amazing things for how short of a career he's had. There's still a question of whether his relative lack of experience could be exposed @ some point. Aside from that he's a good prospect with a good amateur wrestling background as an olympic hopeful who looked for another sport to compete in after wrestling was pulled as an olympic sport(before later being reinstated).

-This is Eryk Anders first fight @ 205 lbs. He's moving up from 185.

-Max Griffin was robbed in his last fight versus Thiago Alves. Officially he "lost". In reality he won.

-Curtis Millender's ground game looked terrible in his last fight. I don't know if Belal Muhammad will shoot for takedowns or if the fight will end up on the ground. Millender could have one of the worst ground games out of anyone in the entire UFC. That's a hole in his game future opponents could look to expose.

I am more interested with the Gastelum and Adesanya fight.
Both fighters have an edge but it looks like Adesanya have a bright future with UFC.
Me too, but I'm still looking forward for our main event of course Cheesy.

Regarding to that fight, I'll go for Adesanya because he is faster and more versatile fighter than Gastelum and you can really see his dominance on his every match thus making for him not impossible do it again against Gastelum. However, we can't still underestimate his opponent because he is more of a defensive player, the tables could turn once he found a proper timing.
Whenever he fights, I always think of watching Anderson Silva on his younger years. I just hope he will not be careless like Silva on his later fights in UFC where he fools around, that's where he got caught get KOd.
Silva and Adesanya got similarities but they're still way different from one another (IMO). Anyway, I hope the same thing. I love the "careless" style of Silva somehow because it is unique and it's really fun to watch counter punch KOs but this is not advisable at all because sloppy movements creates open spots in which you might get trouble.

In the co main, Im giving Gastelum a legit shot at defeating the barely tested Adesanya.
Adesanya looked great in his last fight defeating a over the top Anderon Silva but other then that we dont really know how good he is.
Interesting to see if Gastelum will make weight.
Yes I noticed that Gastelum is big and might encounter weight problems on time for the weigh-ins. Have you watched the video where it looks like Adesanya and Gastelum are checking in something at a UFC event and you can see Gastelum with chewing gum and looks nervous or maybe he just feel awkward at that time. And Yes I would also like to see Gastelum win in this fight.

^  The line for Adesanya is kinda steep too tho.  I think I'm gonna go for the under 3.5 rounds at 2.09ish.  I can see it finishing early since Gastelum is aggro and moves forward a lot.  You guys should know that there's a huge chance Adesanya didn't give full power vs Anderson Silva.  It was more of a show than a real bout imho.  I think he could have finished him if he really wanted to.

Agree, he is being Adensaya has been compared to the great Anderson Silva. I don't know but I have a feeling that Kevin might pull a upset here.  Grin. As for the Max vs Dustin fight, I will also go with Max Holloway, as everyone noticed, he has improved and developed into a well rounded fighter. His name was always in the discussions to fight either Khabib, Conor and Tony F. So that's how far he his career had grow and matured.

I would still be going for Poirier in this fight, even though Max is a champion and Dustin is not. Dustin will be more eager to beat Max once again because he has a champion and there a title that is on the line in this fight.

However, Max will be eager to win a lightweight title also and be a 2 division champion.

It is also not on who is more eager. It is on who has improved more since their fight 7 years ago. I reckon it is Max Blessed Holloway. He will test Dustin Poirier's cardio on the 4th and 5th rounds and I predict Max will win by technical knockout.

Max Halloway now had a chance for revenge against Dustin Poirier But I can see that this is going to be hard for him because of the advantage Poirier had, His experience and reach is pretty much a threat against Halloway, but this can be a great fight because both fighters would surely give their all in the fight, Like in my previous post I will bet for Dustin Poirier because of his experience in the league.
This will surely be a good fight to watch. Max is really making a lot of improvements lately so it's going to be interesting to see if he can avenge his first lost against Poirier. Dustin is not push-over and wants to prove that his win against Max is no fluke. This could be a bloody and I hope to see the fight goes into full distance so that as fans, our money will be worth.
