card was cancelled a while ago

Grin And people have still been discussing it, not knowing. Sig spamming tut tut. Mods should probably lock & or delete the thread. Aren't we on like UFC 205 next any way Cheesy
Yes this is cancelled because UFC is pointing out that the Philippine Government is asking for all fighters to go through mandatory drug test and UFC doesnt want that but the official statementbof the Philippine Government says theres nothing new with the drug test. They went through with the same process when they were. UFC is just blaming the Phillipine Government si that UFC will not look bad at coming up with a weak fight card.

Tickets for UFC FN 97 is slow moving according to some sources.

Ricardo The Bully Lamas vs B.J. The Prodigy Penn

pretty weak card especially if BJ penn like others said who is out of his prime
is the "main event" But then again it's just free fight night and not PPV so it's
decent. The undercard has some intriguing matchups.

I hope the government doesn't shut it down but with UFC they would just move
it.

Life, Love and Laughter...
BJ Penn pulled out of the fight and i dont know who is replacing him, since he was the start attraction of the entire card i do not think i will be watching this event

Is the whole event even pushing through?  I read on another forum that the event might not go on because the Philippine government wanted to drug test the whole UFC staff that was going over there.  Are they going to another venue?

Here's the link to the cancellation.

glad to hear BJ penn is coming back he should have being in the main UFC card rather than in fight pass,if he still has the explosiveness in him nobody could stop him, wanted him to win again ,just noticed that it is scheduled in Philippines and never knew that UFC had this many fighters from Philippines. I would like to see the predictions from the people in Phillipines.

BJ Penn is not young again and I thing will lose in this match, Lamas have high power and very good with submission. This match not more than 3 round and BJ Penn will KO.

the two matches i will be watching here are Lamas v BJ Penn and Derrick Lewis vs. Marcin Tybura ,BJ penn is a legend of the sport and coming back after retirement because he announced his retirement in his early 30s, but the fight camp he selected now is Greg Jackson and Mike Winkeljohn who are the best coaches around who studies matches and prepare them.I am excited to see Penn back, hope he will win this match. Derrick Lewis is a black beast for sure,he only knows to swing hard, but i am not familiar with his opponent, hope he is  a new comer .
Let's see BJ Penn still have that killing instinct whenever he steps inside the octagon, he turns into someone else, he can either knock out his opponent or win via submission. One of his most unforgettable fight is with Sean Sheark as BJ Penn wins by giving flying knee. If he can pull a win this time and a few more then he can win back his title.

BJ Penn is out of his prime I think but if he can win this fight then he maybe back in the radar of Dana White. His last fights before he retired are not really impressive specially that time when he doesn't want to stand up anymore to fight GSP.
