Did you beat on Cejudo then?  Grin. Cejudo is a beast, bring on Mighty Mouse again.

I also heard the news that Cejudo beat Dillashaw, I forgot to watch their fight because I pay my attention to Pacquiao vs Broner fight Grin. Anyway, I can't believe that Cejudo could be able to beat Dillashaw, and take note, only a Round 1 KO (I thought Dillashaw will dominate their fight). This is definitely not only a lucky day for him, he just proved to us that he is also a strong competitor and deserved to be a champ. Before, Johnson was beaten by him, and now, Dillashaw; that's a very hard task. Quite impressive Smiley.

Instead of a Rematch with Mighty Mouse, I'm more interested if he will fight a new contender and I vote for Benavidez.

^  Rofl.  Yup...  Most of us kinda already knew that Dillashaw was gonna win the match.  Now I'm not quite sure after seeing his weight cut.

Where can we bet on 'Cejudo inside the distance'?  Grin

I dunno if the weight cut has affected his performance but that kick really throw him off balance and his recuperation time has somewhat diminished, he was rock by Cody twice, was able to come back, but in this fight, there's something wrong, props though to Cejudo though.

Pffft...  There was nothing more Dillashaw could do even if the ref gave him a couple of minutes more.  He'd just be eating 4 - 5 more punches before getting KO'd anyway imho.

You don't know that. Look at Cerrone who was very close to being stopped also. He came back and won.
It's probable that Dillashaw wouldn't have lasted much longer but you can't be 100% sure.

I agree. TJ needs to accept the fact that he has been clearly beaten by Cejudo. His not defending himself and Henry really did take advantage and even if the fight extends to 3 more rounds, I don't see TJ winning the fight, this is Cejudo's territory, I hope we can see a rematch with Johnson.

I don't know what happened with TJ Dillashaw, he used to be a great fighter, I remember him as a great champs, but you know how UFC rolls, in this sport is impossible to be the best one. We have seen some fighters climbing to the top and then falling down. Just like Conor, just like Ronda, and now Dillashaw.

Ref stopped that fight way top soon, he could have left it another 10-15 seconds to see if TJ was able to recover.
I think cutting weight must have hurt TJ’s core strength.
Uncle Dana is crying out loud too about an early stoppage, he was knocked down twice and there was no recovery from that situation, if the referee immediately stopped the fight when he was knocked down the second time i am sure there wont be any controversy but the main thing was TJ never defended any of the strikes and he was overwhelmed with strikes and the referee has the right to stop the fight and he is there to protect the fighter from further damage. I would like to see a match between them for the 135 pound title now and that is a story line in the making. Wink

I totally agree that going down in weight really affected Dillashaw here.

Who knows ? We can't make any conclusion from such a "fight", there was really no fight.
It all went so fast, this kind of things happen. Kinda like the recent Cyborg / Nunes fight. You gotta be ready and expect anything right from the start.
But yeah I definitely think the ref stopped this one too soon.

Well, that was a quick fight. I did expected Cejudo to have a shot at winning but to be honest with you if you asked me if the game ended at 30 seconds and who I thought won I would probably say Dillashaw, I mean I know he cut weight and thats why he is probably feeling not full on himself and it must be really difficult to lose that much weight on a sports player in that short span on time but 30 seconds was a shock.

If the game went on to second or third round and Cejudo won that was something we could totally expect, they are not really THAT much different and its really predictable. 30 seconds basically shows how amazing Cejudo is on his standing up fight, he attacked really relentlessly in the first seconds, his defense and guard was a bit down and there was some moments Dillashaw could hit him countering his attack but Cejudo attacked so fast and so ruthlessly that Dillashaq didn't even had the chance.

He said that he was not hurt post interview, He said that he was just clipped behind the ear that's why he losses his balance as compare to the first Cody fight wherein he was smack in the face but the ref didn't stop it.

^  The ref prolly had Cejudo itd too.  Cheesy

Anyway, I don't really think it was an early stoppage...  Dillashaw looked really weak out there imho. He got run over.

Dana's only hope for this would be for TJ to win and begin creating his new storyboard. Max Holloway versus TJ Dillashaw for the UFC featherweight championship hehehe. It will be big for TJ if he wins. He would be holding 3 belts and maybe in the race for the best pound for pound.
Dana White's dream just crashed big time to remove a division completely, he was adamant enough on not to answer that question but was vocal about womans feather weight division where the entire division is created for Cyborg and she got smoked inside the first round.
It was an emotional outing for the Flyweight division but i never guessed Henry Cejudo will finish the fight inside a minute and it was one of the fastest finishes in title bouts i guess and the dream of T.J. Dillashaw and Dana uncle is crushed. Cheesy

And still the Flyweight champion. Who would have thought that it will end just like that?

I don't know, but I think it's a early stoppage from the ref. Anyways, I would agree that the story board comes crumbling down on the Holloway vs T.J. for the featherweight.

Time to discuss what happened to this fight. Cejudo obliterates the highly skilled Dillashaw in just 32 seconds. It proves that Cejudo wins against Demetrious Johnson is not a fluked. I totally agree that going down in weight really affected Dillashaw here. I hope we can see them at 135 lbs fight though, to see who is the best in the 125-135 lbs division.

@tokeweed - this thread seems to be quiet, they're all hype on the Manny Pacquiao fight. lol. Interesting to note that the controversial Greg Hardy will make his UFC debut headlining as co-main event.

As someone has said in the previous thread, the weight cut might affect Dillashaw in this fight. Although TJ has the tools to beat Henry, we might not see the effects in the fight and he can probably win against Cejudo. However, there is also the big risk on his overall health after. Look at the weigh in:

How much is his body fat? 5%-7%? that's ridiculous.

Other

- As a result of the cancellation of UFC 233, a flyweight bout between former UFC Flyweight Championship challenger Joseph Benavidez and Deiveson Figueiredo was briefly linked to this event. However the following day, the promotion clarified plans indicating that the pairing was off and that Benavidez would be an alternate for the headliner bout in the event that either Cejudo or Dillashaw would be forced from the main event. On December 15, it was announced that despite still being an alternate, Benavidez would face Dustin Ortiz in a rematch.

- A bantamweight bout between Thomas Almeida and Cory Sandhagen was briefly linked to the event. However on December 22, it was announced that Sandhagen would face John Lineker in the event instead. On January 10, Lineker was forced to withdraw from the bout due to a rib injury. He was replaced by promotional newcomer Mario Bautista on January 12.

- Ion Cutelaba was expected to face former UFC Light Heavyweight Championship challenger Glover Teixeira at this event. However on January 10, it was reported that Cutelaba was forced out of the bout due to injury. He was replaced by Karl Roberson on January 11.

- Randy Brown was expected to face Chance Rencountre, but pulled out in the week leading up to the event. Dwight Grant was soon announced as his replacement, but it was later reported that he was unable to be cleared to fight due to an "eye issue". Promotional newcomer Kyle Stewart was then announced as Rencountre's new opponent on January 14.
