I have been speaking with the CoinFest team and am on the books to run the CoinFest 2016 in Manchester - I have many plans and will detail them when things are in stone.

Nice to see another person also local. As I see more interest in this I am going to be putting some plans forward shortly to bitcointalk and local people to see what they think about getting a first meetup underway. Maybe to do something along the lines of Bitcoin Manchester? or have a good meeting location where people who are local can meet at a central location that is within 5 to 10 miles of where live, so that if using public transport its is not going to be hard to get to or to work out expensive on transport. If people are driving this would open it up future and a wider range for people to come. However I want it so that people are not out of pocket or works out to be good for everyone.

Nice too see more interest and seeing you come to the Manchester area. I will eventually get something done as putting ideas together then am going to get ideas put forward to community see what they all think to the ideas and meeting. Even if its just a get together but with a twist and things happen would be lot better than a lot of the meetings in massive corporate places and end up costing people too much. I want to provide something that is easy access not going to brake the bank and is a team effort then having something like the rest. I want to have something where it is different and stands out

I'm based in South East but up in Manchester every month for a weekend and have a friend up there who would be interested in attending as well.  There are some interesting Crypto startups in the UK but the only ones I'm aware of are mostly based in London.  You could potentially get some interesting talks for a few but not sure what the opportunity for people showing something interesting is like outside of SE.  The irony that people will travel across states in USA but won't leave their county in the UK.

I digress but I'd certainly be interested in attending if anything does get setup and its either SE or weekends in NW.

Yeah its just getting the plans and attractions and places to goto that is going to be a good location for everyone to get to and offset prices among it sort like a group buy in a way or group activity and make a good time out of it and attract other people at the same time, do something different than just having the basic meet up some meals and chats but to bounce ideas maybe spark partnerships or business deals together in future etc and good travels around the UK and maybe as an adventurous one, to go over somewhere in Europe.

 

I subscribe to the Bitcoin Manchester but have noticed myself that it isn't very active, much like alot of UK crypto stuff including the The UK Digital Currency Association.

I have messaged Ash from Bitcoin Manchester to say I could do a talk there in the near future (Public speaking isn't my forte but I thought its worth a shot)

It would be good to bounce ideas around for discussions / activities for these meetups and get people feedback, splitting all costs among each other for a good weekend trip out sounds like a great idea aswell

Nice too see you are close by. Just need more people to get together and get some good events going. I have been to a few of the Bitcoin Manchester events myself  but seems to of gone quite with them or they are still their just not much of updates going on or paused. I know thy had one in June, but didn't manage to get to it as been hella busy. What would be good is more places around North-West going on and maybe some weekend events than just local meet ups, but with meetings have a good chat and a get together to make more people aware and learn about it and then have some weekender doing activities bit like a weekend away sort of speak. Meet one location for speech, training, guidance and learning etc. Then off to some location to have a get away and do different activity's.

I would plan something myself to get everyone evolved or maybe a good trip about meeting everyone and putting funds together splitting all costs among each other for a good weekend trip out and can say id love to do it again and invite some people along the next trip. Once I have time to am sure I will get something in the making and get some plans down and arrangements made.

I am based in the North-West of the UK aswell (Manchester) I do know of Bitcoin Manchester (Which I may be speaking at in the future). I am in the process of writing some course material for a group of people who have shown an interest in crypto currencies but would love to see more crypto currency events

Am in the North-West of UK so large place to promote and also do meetings throughout. Was thinking some nice weekender in Devon or some parts of Wales would be good. But seems a lot people are interested but nothing really ever happens in terms of confirmation and most end up canceling at last min. This is going to take some doing but eventually who knows more interest the better that this could get and become.

Where abouts in the UK are you? We need you start leaving people's eyes to the possibility of bitcoin and crypto in general.

This get together is now in hold status. Thought they would of been much more interest to get some meetings and get together for UK guess not many seen or many interested in meetings unless they benefit them selfs or something along them lines. When I get more plans put down and maybe a meeting place confirmed then ill get listed in this section.

Until then this project is on hold until theirs more interest and confirmed locations for meetings to happen.

Well once I get more interest in this and more are in like yourself and thanks for being part of it if I do manage to get things under way. Indeed a lot seems to happen in the US r central  parts of UK like London but the problem of that is, not everyone can get their or even get to bigger conventions such as ones happening in the US. Would be nice to get to some of them. Maybe if more people in UK had a good get together to maybe do some travailing as a group and team might also work good too. I have a few things in the works that I be adding here in the future. Just need more people to take part in this and get some good projects and meetings put together.

lots of stuff goes on in crypto space in US but hardly anything in UK

also over years have spend too much time in front of keyboard and not met enough people from all over world that have become connnected with and friends
whether domains, web development, crypto, whatever

Closed other topic due to people going off topic and decided on  opening new topic self moderated so if that anyone does go off topic your post will be removed. I want to get stuff and ideas put together to get more people to come together to get something working around the UK that works for everyone.


So the question comes to people located within the UK having a Bitcoin/altcoin meeting on a regular basics and continued interest. Now myself am not a good speaker for holding speeches or doing presentations on stuff but I do like to go to a good meeting that has a lot of people you can get to meet, chat with and cast your views on crypto or actually help other people who are just getting started with crypto.

So is their any good meetings happening within the UK for Bitcoin or alt coins happening. Most the ones I have been to follow the same suite 1 you go to them 2 you have a little chat with a few people finding out what or why they got involved in crypto 3 have some speech, f"all asleep" within them or get board to the point of leaving the meetup.

I have not seen that many on here that have good experiences other than they put a dint in peoples wallets and do not bother going to them again. I have been to a fair few across the UK but it is the same old story.
ones that are big have stupid fees on them that get paid and again people do not bother going to again due to them being boring or do not have anything interesting happening or something that they found useful or interesting to say sweet this was worth my while coming to the meetup and getting to know more about things going on in my area and then to go to it again..

Having been to a fair few around the UK am not having a go at any of them or slating the way things are done but a lot could be done in terms of preparation/presentation and actually having a lot more said within the get together other than hay how are you ok lets talk about bitcoin abcde and your asleep.

I am strongly looking to get something arranged across the UK some different locations based on different times of the year and actually have a good old chat and have people come up on stage that would like to present their ideas or even business plans and actually get people speaking to each other to advance their business or projects to the next level and even have some fun. Even to the point of having a convoy of people having a drive around the UK going from one location to another making a good weekend out of it.

I know stuff like this does already happen but theirs not much of it going on and most events that happen are always in London and not in mixed locations across the UK.  An Idea would be to meet at a central location so its simple enough for most people to get to and or have places across the UK going on tour across the UK. Food drinks refreshments and entertainment from djs, mc, activities and lots of different thinks to keep you entertained at the event.

What you lot think to something like this. You think it could work if enough planning and interest is collected??
