I'd think there would be more coverage of the incident had it taken place. There was more then enough news coverage when the Russians were getting the convoy on it's way and when they left. I'd think the news would be all over this story if it weren't for the ferguson shooting uproar. There was many stories about the convoy before it left and when it was on the way.

I think this likely did take place or Russian media would be all over this story, no?

Ukraine could be turned into the new federal district in a matter of days, if that would be necessary. But this thing simply will never happen. Putin need invade to neutralize its forces or to keep it from being taken or being influence by enemy countries. Rebuilding is an option not mandatory. Imagine American and nato bases in Ukraine sharing border with Russia.
