Reminds of the time when COVID 19 broke out... and now we have random scam tokens getting created, all themed to "support" the victims of the war. But we all know what the aim of these scammers is.

Here is another one

About STOPWAR

The STOPWAR token ($STOP) is a charity focused DeFi Token that will financially support people affected by war and those who are currently living in war zones.
Our aim is to become the leading currency in a state of war and utilize the advantages of blockchain technology to obtain funding, bypass the middleman, and donate directly to people around the world.

Still ongoing threads that pop up from time to time from newbies hoping for donations.
Although this user does not dismiss help as advice, it is likely from this that the topic has not yet been deleted.
But you can still get gullible and reward him with some amount.

Dear friends! We need your help.

Please donate some amount to the ether wallet 0x57044b669661d3dc44be5b92477564401e6793f6

Here is another worried soul who wants to collect help for the children of Ukraine CryotoK in the topic NFT to help children who have seen the horrors of war.
I looked at his offer, I have to admit he is very modest, around 12-17 ETH per one item.

quoting for reference
Hi.
A Ukrainian writes to you, one who withstands Russia's military aggression.
I created a collection of several nft drawings of Ukrainian children.
The money from the sale of these nft will go to save the lives of children who are experiencing shelling and fleeing the war.
Help: spread the link to the collection, or buy one of the pictures - save lives.https://opensea.io/collection/untitled-collection-270088210
Many children are now hungry and scared in basements, shelters. I want to raise funds for food, clothing, medicine for them. The funds will also be transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine and those who lost their homes.
If anyone wants - write to me, I'll tell you where you can send help to these people

By the way, I sometimes think that some of them are Ukrainians who are really asking for donations. Is there any directive out there for affected Ukrainian residents to get donations personally to the agency managing the official known donation address? Then we just need to refer the donor requester who come to this forum to that directive (including pretend scammers).

In fact, I already read in the forum about a crypto address where to send our donations, and it's a legit address.

The addresses setup by the Ukrainian government are (at least as of now)
https://twitter.com/Ukraine
BTC - 357a3So9CbsNfBBgFYACGvxxS6tMaDoa1P
ETH and USDT (ERC-20) - 0x165CD37b4C644C2921454429E7F9358d18A45e14

and the UN Refugee Agency in general: https://unrefugees.org/SupportUkraine

I think it is better for us to donate directly to an official NGO or a reputable non-profit organization raising donations for Ukraine. We also need to be sure that every donation we send reaches those who need it. Those who need help should turn to these organizations and I am sure they will get all the help they need.

He created an account a few days ago and pretended to be inquiring about mining gear to be used to generate more money from the donated money

Hello friends, we have established an organization to support children and families damaged in the war. We plan to cover the care, education and protection expenses of the children who were left without a family during the war, with the income we will earn by mining within this organization. At this point, we would be very grateful if you could tell us the mining configurations that we can get the best efficiency with the most appropriate budget.

Best regards.

When you look at the name, you realized what he's aiming at; donation scam

1 day ago I got an email message pointing to an article on behalf of Kyrrex. Not sure,Is the Kyrrex Charitable Foundation real?

Kyrrex is a crypto exchange and investment platform, and it appears that their founders are Ukrainians. It is quite possible that they created a charitable fund since they posted about it on their social media and on their official blog.

https://twitter.com/Kyrrexcom/status/1500530501429387268

Were you their customer? You probably received that mail because you're a subscriber to their newsletter or have used their platform at some point.

thanks for clarifying my question. personally I don't remember if I ever/never used the service platform on behalf of kyyrex.

but at least your statement leads to the main point that the charity fund service is real/official.

I have seen a number of TikToc users posting live streams of what is likely to be a sound recording of someone crying, and a repeating video of an old building in poor condition, with the caption saying they need money to escape.

It is sad that people are taking advantage of the situation for their own personal benefit.

Unfortunately, there are people who are twisted enough to take advantage of such situation purely for their own advantage and benefit. With all the donations that are being sent globally, there are people who create fake addresses and videos in hopes of scamming kind-hearted and genuine donators.
Unfortunately, it seems that there are always people willing to pounce whenever disaster strikes. It is common for people to loot homes after a hurricane that caused people to evacuate. Donation scams tend to pop up when there is a cause that many wish to donate to help.

I think the effect of these types of people is that others will be less willing to donate to help good causes because they don't know if their money is actually going to help, or if it is going to scammers.

kyrrex donations
Dear users,

Our company is very concerned about the full-scale military assault in Ukraine. We condemn war crimes against the population and civilian infrastructure. However, we are confident in the ultimate victory of the Ukrainian free nation.

From the first day of the military aggression, the KYRREX team has supported the nationals of Ukraine in the struggle for freedom and peace. During this time, the company has donated more than 1.500.000 UAH ($60,000) to affected citizens and soldiers.

Today we are announcing the creation of a new Kyrrex Charitable Foundation, and donating an extra 1 000 000 UAH in humanitarian aid. This money will be used to buy food, clothes, housing repair, and military uniforms for the AFU. This fund will remain operational during the course of the military operation in Ukraine. In the future, we expect to route proceeds of the charity towards rebuilding destroyed infrastructure.

Each of you can make a donation to our charitable foundation. Use the details if you want to help.

0xc3229693298f386aad7172fadba7fa49b12674de (ETH)
TTtyEETPjk4qBkvmVNPbLKFdG1ZTATbi1B (USDT, TRC20)
3Ex5yPrwerehch6ZmMxXKgfHGynVM9xWaz (BCT)

Make a transfer, and we will purchase everything needed for Ukrainian soldiers and affected nationals.
Unity will help us to win in this war.
Glory to Ukraine!

Yet another scammer attempting to profit from this ongoing situation by creating an useless token that will allegedly be used to help the people but we all know that he will only help himself with donated money. They invested a little bit more effort though than a regular scammer just sharing address as they launched the website as well, to appear more legit.
I even got an email on one of my old junk email addresses from a guy (scammer) who is asking for help and donation.
If anyone receives something similar like content I post below, just ignore it and send it to spam folder.
First his name was Stepan Morozov and then in the end he wrote with all respect, Andrew  Cheesy
I removed wallet addresses because someone already sent them coins :/ ...

Scammer never feel shame. If they had a shy then they would never did like this. They never tried to scam by the name of critical issue which require for fundamental necessity of the people who are affected for the war. And also they never tried to do any scam attempt either for this issue or for another.

Gents, I have left Kyiv a week ago, evacuated to west of Ukraine. I was forced to stop and disassemble my rig, when it started to explode near home.

If anybody want to do donation of any size, I can convert this donation, give money to local defense force and make photos of what was bought for those money. Money will go directly to the defense of Ukraine.

I would add another, who obviously wants to abuse the current situation and the suffering of the people.
Newbie user shredded_ceo started "SlavaUkraini DAO" scam
On the website are several pictures on the site with current topics from Ukraine and of course donation addresses. behind every charity, there must be real people, by name and surname. I don't see anything here, except a cheap website and a bit of pathos with pictures from the internet.

quoting for reference:

hello friends,

The ongoing invasion of Ukraine has shown that putin's regime has no respect for human rights. On Feb 24 a full invasion has commenced, civilian neighborhoods have been bombed, and innocent people have been killed. Refugees are fleeing the violence and the population is being forced into conscription by Ukrainian officials.

SlavaUkraini DAO is a decentralized autonomous organization that was created to help the people of Ukraine in their time of need. We are a self-organizing network of volunteers from around the world who are working together to achieve our common goal of stopping the Russian invasion and putting an end to Putin's terrorism.

We believe the fate of humanity will be decided at the frontier of technology and democracy, and we are prepared to fight for what is right.

- Every contributor will be rewarded $PEACE tokens.
- DAO decisions are made based by staked-weighted voting.
- First 1000 contributors will receive air drop of Peace Dove NFT’s collection.
- After a successful mission, together with contributing artist from around the world we will launch PEACE NFT Collection that will be sold on auction for $PEACE token holders.

We all have the potential to make an impact, whether it's through donating funds or contributing your time and skill.

do you think that money that they reiceved will be enough to rebuild country detroyed by war - infrastructure, economy and etc.
@LTU_btc, that's a different story, if it is said to restore infrastructure, facilities, economy and so on that have an impact on war, money we are talking about today donations from the Bitcointalk forum for ukraine from irresponsible members aka scams, if the donation is officially like the address published by @DaveF, I don't think it's a problem, the bottom line: for today, assistance continues to grow from various parties both from companies and foreign countries, for example Binance is also participating in donations for ukraine.

I mean, humanitarian donations are currently coming from various parties for ukraine, if I'm not mistaken a total of 41,167,336 ukraine residents in 2022 were recorded, if the aid is right on target, there will be no corruption by certain parties, with the help I see it is sufficient for their needs in the future.

As far as I know, a country that is peaceful/independent from war, to repair damaged facilities, economy and so on, the state has another budget to repair damaged infrastructure.
bottom line: each country, has a different way of repairing the damage caused by war, you can read the history of countries like: Afghanistan, Iraq, Russia, Ukraine, Chechnya or a former Soviet Union country and others.

I remind the community in this forum, ukraine does not need funds, they have billions of funds that have been donated by other countries.
UK provides Ukraine with $120 million in financial aid
World Bank ready to provide financial aid to Ukraine amid Russian invasion.
Council adopts €1.2 billion assistance to Ukraine

This amount of funds, if they are not corrupt, is sufficient to meet the needs of the Ukrainian people in the next 1 year.
Ok, Ukraine don't need for more money because YOSHIE decided that they got enough. But even if they survive war, do you think that money that they reiceved will be enough to rebuild country detroyed by war - infrastructure, economy and etc.

The address was originally posted by an old twitter account that claims to be the official account of the Ukrainian government, and I have no reason to suspect it isn't.  The address was posted by that account over 48 hours ago, and the fact that it's still up also makes me think it's legit.
And this address was reposted by some high rank Ukrainian officials, so, for me there isn't many resons to believe that it may be not legit.

Quote
Honestly, I'm still skeptical about making bitcoin donations.  I am also not in any hurry to donate to the Ukrainian government for a variety of reasons.  I am inclined to donate to humanitarian efforts, but I don't want my donations used for any military purposes.
That's understandable. If you don't want to donate for military purposes, you can donate to provide help to war refugees for example.

Along with @ETFbitcoin, I had also had conversations with interiawp. They were perpetually trying to figure out ways to unlock some outputs from the blockchain whose transactions were non-standard and therefore couldn't be accepted from the network.

But looks like the real reason he made those posts is to build reputation for scam attempt, what a shame.
I doubt they wanted to build reputation, they just had an account spared and chose to earn the most they could that way. They were looking shady anyways.

Not your fault. There are people here with different interest. They may look legitimate but they won't leave the opportunity to scam if they get a chance. To build up another new account does not take much if one knows how to manipulate the system and earn merit from other members. Merit fishers are everywhere.

The address was originally posted by an old twitter account that claims to be the official account of the Ukrainian government, and I have no reason to suspect it isn't.  The address was posted by that account over 48 hours ago, and the fact that it's still up also makes me think it's legit.

According this post, the Ukrainian Ambassador to Austria has confirmed that the address is indeed controlled by the Ukrainian government.

Honestly, I'm still skeptical about making bitcoin donations.  I am also not in any hurry to donate to the Ukrainian government for a variety of reasons.  I am inclined to donate to humanitarian efforts, but I don't want my donations used for any military purposes.

The address 3CcF942kYVRotGrfYQxD4QNn4aKVywpRxb belongs to an exchange, more like a hot wallet, so I am certain the past scams used it for exchanging the stolen Bitcoin.

The name of the exchange is Kuna.io, a Ukrainian crypto exchange. What I think is happening is that the Official donation address was created from that very exchange, so sent Bitcoins are being automatically spent off to the hot wallet like most exchanges usually do.

Yeah, that's what I thought too.

When I searched WalletExplorer.com for additional information about that address, I saw that it was part of an extremely active wallet along with more than 700 other addresses: https://www.walletexplorer.com/wallet/0001973d1acf52ac/addresses

But how do you know it is a Kuna.io exchange? Is there a way to confirm this information?

Flag it, I'll support it.

The thing is 3CcF942kYVRotGrfYQxD4QNn4aKVywpRxb had been reported as owned by a scam company since Aug 5, 2021, does this address belong to scammer?
Huh, now that's interesting--I didn't even know sites like bitcoinabuse.com existed.  However, with respect to that donation address and the complaints I see on the site, there's no proof of any wrongdoing and the site looks very much like the one that had that huge smear against Vod a long time ago (I can't remember what it's called, but basically anybody can post anything about anyone with zero evidence).

I'd hope that an address like that, which has received over $4m and has a current balance of over $600k, doesn't belong to a scammer.  If it does, I'd like to know what kind of scams they're pulling off.  I doubt they'd be charity scams, but I suppose it's possible.

To be honest I'm not really sure, the donation address (357a3So9CbsNfBBgFYACGvxxS6tMaDoa1P) is spent to this address multiple times (3CcF942kYVRotGrfYQxD4QNn4aKVywpRxb)

357a3So9CbsNfBBgFYACGvxxS6tMaDoa1P to 3CcF942kYVRotGrfYQxD4QNn4aKVywpRxb for 1.47699164 BTC

Take care of humanitarian needs if you can. People will start running out of food and essentials very quickly.
Call me completely misanthropic, but I've never once donated any money to people in crisis in my city, state, or even country.  There's no way in hell I'm sending any crypto to a newly-formed charity (or even an established one) for people I've never given a thought to my life and whose situation I can't assess directly--I certainly don't trust what I see on the news.  Who knows what these charities do with the money they receive?

I'm not even in a bad mood.

Good job outing these scamming assholes, Dave.  I'm going to take a look and support your negs and flags.  And yes, to those who haven't been on the forum for long, this is what we have to deal with every time there's a big news story about some sort of crisis.  I can't remember what the last one was, but it was probably over a year ago.  If you see any member posting a bitcoin or any other crypto address for donations, just report it to the mods as begging.

The addresses setup by the Ukrainian government are (at least as of now)
https://twitter.com/Ukraine

Now, a lot of news that is created on social networks is an information war against Russia. And many, many things do not correspond to reality.
I am not a citizen of Russia, and thank God I am not Ukrainian, but I know Russian, so I can say that everything that is presented in the European segment does not correspond much to what is happening.
War is always a misfortune and a tragedy, but we all know that for many people war is a means of gain. Now many marauders have received weapons in their hands, they have no nationality, the main thing for such people is their profit from the misfortune of the peoples.
Therefore, it would be right to conclude without trusting feelings. Since it is natural for any normal person to reject violence, at this time one can easily fall into the clutches of scammers. Be carefully.

From the start he made my topic suspicious and suspicious of @interiawp, he made the same 12 topics about help for ukraine, I also warned him in one of his deleted topics.

Luckily @DaveF acted quickly, otherwise we might see money donated by people for him used for personal gain, this is very annoying to take advantage of other people's suffering, maybe we have taken examples from donations that have happened here which ended up being private in the name of humanity or the virus.

Looks like the same thing with you, taking advantage of the situation.

I’ve read the recent tweet from Ukraine’s account and its legit though it raises some concern about getting scammed since many are already posting the same thing with different address details. Its good OP that you find this people, they deserve karma because of this.

I have seen a number of TikToc users posting live streams of what is likely to be a sound recording of someone crying, and a repeating video of an old building in poor condition, with the caption saying they need money to escape.

It is sad that people are taking advantage of the situation for their own personal benefit.

I'm sorry if i break any rules by posting this is, but i have little choice but to ask!

My friend and her 3 year old daughter from Ukraine have left to Romania only with one bag of clothes and without money. I'm trying my best to help her from Finland, but for now the only option for the fast transfer of money is via crypto ATMs at Bucarest. I'm sorry to ask but any help is appreciated!

Also i am trying to reach for her Family back in Ukraine and send them some help via local crypto ATMs if they are still working (may not be working very soon even if they still are).

Again i'm really sorry to ask and i'd never do this if this was only for me, but below are the crypto adresses! Any little help is needed! 100% will go directly to the Ukrainians in need

This escalated quickly. Everyone who's posted in his interiawp topics and asked for some proofs has been red marked by him.
justified doubt of his good intentions it can only come from paedophiles.
LOL, she's just showing the best defense she has, but she's a total sleazy swindler bitch. After all no one wants to be in opposition but just him, and I have tag him for that immoral act. There is nothing worse than scammed others for one's own benefit, and his efforts are dirtier than dirt.

How about this guy (SupportUkraine)?

He made this post claiming to sell an NFT and the money collected "will be used to help people in Ukraine"
Good afternoon, dear crypto community.

I propose to unite in this difficult time and launch a flash mob to support democracy, freedom and peace in Ukraine.

Your small donation and participation can greatly help those in need.

All proceeds from the sale will go to help the people of Ukraine. I will be happy to answer all questions and listen to any suggestions.

Please find collection here:

https://opensea.io/collection/support-ukraine-2022

Is it in order to flag or tag his profile too?

Flag it, I'll support it.

And I'm trying to get momentum behind a bunch of us doing this: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/everyone-in-signature-campaigns-lets-help-the-ukrainian-people-5387586

At this junction, I dont think they need anything asides physical provision, even cash cant take care of their needs like the food, shelter and clothings. It is important to move children and women out of the country like they are doing now, so all those fund seeking scammers do not seem reliable and relevant, just exploitative.

Just report for begging, those posts get removed.

If you want to donate, find a reputable charity. Don't worry too much about the military part, NATO will shovel their outdated equipment into Ukraine and call  it "billions of dollars of support". Take care of humanitarian needs if you can. People will start running out of food and essentials very quickly.
