I checked my coinbase account this morning like any other day, but today i saw an unauthorize withdraw transaction out of my account. I call coinbase and spoke to someone and got no definite answer. Can someone please help me how to resolve this issue?

I would recommend that, if you have not already done it, move any remaining funds in your coinbase wallet to another wallet. Preferably an hardware wallet like the ledger Nano S.

This is most likely the case of using a wallet that has minimum security and backup . The hackers are always keeping an eye on the transactions and looking out for the wallets with maximum bucks . Just try to keep the bitcoin at some safe offline wallets . The coinbase services would not do a lot for you because they have no control over the hackers and moreover there is no way to retrieve the bitcoin back.

Sorry to say this but once the transaction was done then there is no way to get back our bitcoins maybe your account was hacked by someone. So next time please keep your bitcoins in good software wallet or in hardware wallet if your amount is big, normally hardware wallets are better to store bitcoins if we have more than one bitcoin.
Coin base also have some security options like verify using phone number but I don't know it is safe or not so keep your coinbase wallet only for small money, but that bitcoin was lost and you never get back bro.

I disagree that this has something to do with the recent demand from the IRS to hand over details of more than 14k USA citizens having an account in Coinbase. I don't think IRS will demand the passwords of those accounts as that can be against the law already. Now, there is a big possibility that your account is really hacked or phished that is why the one who withdrawn something from your account got the needed access details. I am hoping this can be resolved soon so that you will know what really happen and let's hope Coinbase can help with this though I would say that it might be impossible to get back what was already transferred. Let's hope that things can get normal with Coinbase soon.

Perhaps this is due to the fact that they lost the court and is now preparing to hand over to the tax authorities of their customers. If so then you have a problem. I think that if people find out about what data about them is transferred to the tax office they will cease to use this exchanger. They can go broke.

I highly think it's not the case in this one. As far as I know, Only financial records were handed over not an access to accounts. These records will be reviewed and if deemed suspicious IRS can ask coinbase to freeze/disable its corresponding account either temporary or permanently. The idea is to halt the user/s future transaction/s, this is impossible if they just withdrew his coins, to add on they are regulated and with this kind of act, it's like they are upfrontly stealing.

@OP, It's most likely the usual compromised wallet which often occurs on web wallets. There are various reasons on why this is occuring so think back on what you did as they might be a phishing link thet you clicked, malware, keyloggers etc.

Unfortunately there's nothing else that you can do since bitcoin transactions are pseudonymous and irreversible. A piece of advice for you is to change your wallet.
Web wallets are unsafe enough but it's even more unsafe with coinbase as it is completely centralized.

Heres a tl;dr of wallet types:

--Snip--
Safest:
  • hardware wallet: both reasonably cheap and easy to use
  • airgapped pc: expensive and a little bit harder to use (you always have to transfer unsigned/signed transactions between an online and offline machine)
  • Paper wallet: very cheap and very secure if generated in the correct way, but hard to use (you have to sweep and discard the paper wallet each time you use it, then transfer the remaining value to a new paper wallet)

Medium:
  • Desktop wallet: free, but you need a clean PC and you NEED to encrypt your wallet (using a strong passphrase). Virusscanners/firewall are a must have

Unsafe-ish:
  • Android/Ios wallets: I call these ones unsafe because it's harder to verify the wallet's signatures, many people know less about their phone's OS than they know about their desktop's OS, and phones can easily get stolen/lost

Unsafe:
  • Any wallet where you're not the (only) one in controll of your private keys. This includes exchanges and online wallets

coinbase is an online wallet so there are hish risk of getting hacked you need to understand that we have to use online wallets for storing small amount of bitcoins if we store bulk amount then it will be hacked. So try to keep your bitcoin in wallet with private key which offers your good security and store your private key in offline drive never store them in google drive or on your computer.
If you want full security for your crypto currency them please buy a hardware wallet and store them in it it is the most safest wallet for all the crypto currencies.
