The bitcoin protocol needs some serious changes and management. The masses simply cannot use bitcoin with nonstop issues like these. Its been so slow you might as well send cash to merchant in snail mail.
It might take a bit longer than usual as there is an unusual large amount of transactions waiting for a confirmation right now.
