Thanks for the reply.

All of a sudden, a few moments ago, confirmations arrived, for both the payment and the withdrawal.

Hi,
yesterday, after quite some time, I did a payment with the offcial client (not updated to the latest version, I was running on 0.13.2)

After many hours I saw I had no transaction confirmations.
You likely didn't have enough fee.
I have then executed the bitcoin-qt with the -zapwallettxes option to remove such unconfirmed transaction.

Procedure worked flawlessly.

I then upgraded to the latest release 0.14.1, re-executed the same transaction and again no confirmations.
Two possibilities:
1. You didn't have enough fee again.
2. The older transaction was still in the mempool of the various nodes. This prevents the nodes from propagating your new transaction since it is seeing another transaction spending the same unspent output. Hence, miners won't see your new transaction.
This morning I have tried to withdraw from the exchange I'm currently using and even for withdrawals I get 0 confirmations.

Any advice on what to do?

Thanks a lot.
It's not the problem with your client then. The exchange might not have included enough fee.

Can you post the transaction ID for all the above transactions?
