I am using Electrum wallet to pay on a website. Usually the site has "Pay in Wallet" option and I use that and electrum opens up and I hit pay from electrum that take me back to website page. Today when I hit pay from electrum wallet it waited long and did not get recognized on the website end.

Finally I got the message on electrum "The Transaction is only available on your local machine" and I did not get the coin back. I right clicked the transaction from Electrum and did "Broadcast" and the transaction now has 2 confirmations.

Will this go through ?

Usually, the payment processor sites have set a timer to send the transaction within a certain time period like 30 minutes or 1 hour etc. I do not know what happens if the timer runs out and your transaction isn't broadcast as i usually pay a higher fee (after checking from the mempool), so that my transactions get confirmed early and the payment processor site has no objection as my payments never delays.

If the transaction has already been broadcast within the allocated time but not yet confirmed, then it was not an issue but since the payment processer did get the Tx ID within the allocated time I do not know how they will treat it, Maybe good payment processor will return you the amount if you contact them through support and the less trusted ones may eat up your funds.

I see it has 17 confirmations and did not see it go through to the merchant. Coingate is the middleman here and I contacted there customer care and yet to hear back.

I understand in a traditional world I can dispute this and can get refund, will there be a similar solution here. I have doubts since its been sent to an address and coins deducted from my wallet.

17 confirmation means the money has gone and is with Coingate. They now need to check the transaction hash and they will find it. Since you mentioned that you have contacted them I am assuming you have already provided the details. I don't think there will be any issues pertaining to the missing transaction.

CoinGate and other payment processors give you a short payment ID which will help them track the payment more easily in their databases, more than the long random strings of numbers and letters that we use as transaction IDs. That is what OP needs to give to the customer support so they can locate the transaction and issue a refund.

As there is already the confirmation, they did receive the money.

Maybe you have to wait for the middleman (Coingate) to contact them and confirm that the payment went through.

Are you recommending copying the destination address and amount and pay from the wallet instead of clicking the wallet option from the site ?

Yes it will be better to write the receiving address into the website rather than connecting them together. One more thing be careful of the way you copy and paste, there is also clipboard malware that is becoming very common now. So even when you copy make sure you’re pasting the right thing by going thoroughly through it

Today it got timed out and I had to broadcast again. Will the destination address be recognizing this ? even though I got a timeout page from the website ?

I see 3 confirmations now ? Coingate used to be the intermediary and they redirect to the site when I hit pay from the wallet and payments used to reflect after few minutes. Today it got timed out and I had to broadcast again. Will the destination address be recognizing this ? even though I got a timeout page from the website ?

Probably the number of confirmation might be the issue. My major concern is you moving straight from the website to electrum wallet which means you have connected that wallet to the site. For security purpose it is a bad thing and if possible you need to take your funds off that address because it is expose to online website and can easily be compromised

If you have broadcasted the transaction and it has more than 1 confirmation, that means the transaction is successful already.

Some sites may have more than 2 confirmations before the site will see a transaction to be successful. How many confirmations is required on the site before it will see a transaction as successful?

If it has reached the number of confirmations needed, contact their customer care as TryNinja stated already.

You sent the transaction and it already has 2 confirmation. If you sent the right amount and to the right address, then the website has the coins.

If they don’t detect it for any reason (i.e you sent it after the invoice expired - some websites do that), contact them.
