Hi thanks for the reply.

I have only 1 more transaction left that is unconfirmed but i wanted to use Electrum. I try to import it with my private keys ( 12 words ) of Multibit HD but nothing happens ? I opened Electrum, go to File, New/Restore, Standard Wallet, I already have a seed. Options: Select BIP39 seed. Paste my Multibit HD seed. Select account 0 and finish. It just shows me i have 0 balance and if i open Multibit HD i can still see my balance. Huh
Ok, sorry for the confusion. My instructions were based on you needed to get coins out of MultiBit Classic, not HD. Also, just to clarify 12 words IS NOT the same as private keys. 12 words are your "seed" or "wallet words". They are different things. HD wallets use the 12 word seed to generate private keys.

Now, unfortunately for you, MultiBit HD seeds are NOT compatible with any other Desktop wallet application that I have found. The only wallets I have found that work with MBHD seeds are "Breadwallet" (available for iOS and Android devices) and "Simple Bitcoin Wallet" (available for Android)

So you will need to install one of those apps, restore using your 12 words and then let it sync (might take an hour or so depending on the speed of your connection). Once the app is fully sync'd, your balance should show up and you can send coins as required.

NOTE: I do not vouch nor recommend either of these applications as long term storage solutions for your coins. I would still recommend that you setup Electrum and then send the coins to your Electrum wallet.

If you cannot install Breadwallet or "Simple Bitcoin Wallet", then there are other other options like running my python script that will extract the private keys from your MultiBit HD wallet, but that is a little technical if you're not familiar with Python and running scripts.

You can also extract your private keys manually. It is long and tedious... but doesn't really require any special skill, just a lot of time and patience. Wink

Hi there!

I tried exactly that (import into electrum and never open multibit classic anymore) but it seems tx are not forgotten by the network anymore.

The tx was originally created on 9. May but it keeps being broadcasted by someone. Last time it was rebroadcasted on 22. and blockchain.info still hasn't dropped it.

You need to export your private keys from MultiBit Classic. Then shut it down and don't re-open it until the transaction either confirms or drops from the network.

If the transaction confirms (keep trying ViaBTC, you'll get it eventually)... then you can re-open MultiBit Classic without worry. I'd still recommend you export/import your keys to another wallet (see below), as the Classic fees are hardcoded to be a lot lower than the current recommended fees required for fast confirmations. Any future transaction you send from Classic is likely to get stuck again.

However, if the transaction drops (is not visible on ANY block explorer), DON'T re-open MultiBit Classic. Instead, import or sweep your keys into another wallet like Electrum (for the record, I don't recommend MultiBit HD at the moment, the application has a rather serious bug that results in a "password did not unlock the wallet" error even when the password is 100% correct... there are numerous threads about it).

NOTE:
If you sweep into an HD wallet, you won't need to worry about ensuring you have backups of the keys once the sweep is confirmed... you just need to safely store your HD wallet 12 word seed (wallet words) some place safe!
If you sweep/import into a non HD wallet, you'll need to make sure you have proper backups of the private keys/wallet file until the coins are spent.
