if that happens, then the anonymous coin will look like it is not anonymous because it is under government supervision. and all transactions will be known as well, so there is no way to avoid taxes.
I believe that the main reason why these anonymous coin created is not for avoiding taxes which is a grave mistake if you use them for that purpose and the consequences once they find out thay you're doing such practices. Even if in the future these anonymous coins will be under supervision I guess the government only able to supervise it through exchange and not directly considering the nature of its anonymous coin's blockchain.

Hello everyone and Merry Christmas! According to the current situation, cryptocurrencies are about to be brought under government supervision. Do you think that anonymous coins have a future in this case? How should we choose, thank you for your proposal

I think it's not very useful if we hold anonymous coins just because we want our transactions to be unknown to other parties. If we transact legally and do not violate the rules, I think it does not matter whether our transaction is anonymous or not because as long as we hold it in our own wallet, no one knows the ownership of the wallet

Hello everyone and Merry Christmas! According to the current situation, cryptocurrencies are about to be brought under government supervision. Do you think that anonymous coins have a future in this case? How should we choose, thank you for your proposal
But how exactly governments are going to regulate those coins? It is obvious that if you buy those coins in an exchange you are going to need to go through know your customer policies, but then people are just going to buy those coins with cash making face to face trades, and at that point it will be impossible to identify what they do with their coins, so in my opinion if there is one type of coin that has a future and that will never disappear are the coins that specialize themselves in giving anonymity to their users.

Crypto is really hard to regulate. There are always ways to get away from the monitoring and regulatory policies. P2P transaction is one. There are also decentralized exchanges where one can buy or trade their coins. There are also mixers to cut the tracks of a certain coin.

With more KYC there wil be greater need for opaque ledger cryptocurrencies.

What governments do now is set regulations. Regulations will be more about how coins gets created then how they work.

Today's anonymous currency has risen nicely,So stick to your favorite investment and the return must be amazing!
I guess it's because of the factor in the market moving. there is indeed a time for bitcoin and the crypto market to improve prices. because for a long time the market has been less interested. investors and traders also experienced a decline. and now we will see the market really in improvement.

Anonymous currencies will be valuable without a legal intervention, if anonymity is lost then there is no future with its concept. Anonymous currencies are easy to operate illegally and also difficult to control, which is what this market encounters and it is difficult for governments to control it.

As a result of this I don't think that regulation will necessarily make anonymous coins more attractive to investors.

It's one of these things where the inverse of the common paradigm is true. Because if there is excess regulation in the field of anonymity, then there could be the worry that there will be a lack of anonymity within the coin as a result of governments dabbling with the ecosystem.

But at the end of the day some of these regulations are inevitable and can't be stopped.

Anonymous coins are coins that can be a threat to the government, because anonymous coins are created anonymously and have privacy so they cannot be tracked by the government. these will be pros and cons.
the future of anonymous coins will certainly be good if the interest of anonymous coins continues to grow without government intervention.
I do not think anonymous coins will be supported by the governments. If there is a regulation on crypto money, there will definitely be a limitation on anonymous coins. Their development may be due to darkweb, which in the end may result in the illegal acceptance of these coins.
yes darkweb is also the main reason why anaonymous coins can develop.
many transactions are done using anonym coins in darkweb to hide the user's identity. This makes many illegal transactions go well without the government knowing.

Anonymous coins do have a wonderful future only time would tell. No matter how the government try to regulate crypto, it will be hard for them to keep the track of all crypto. The reason why cryptocurrency was created, is that never to be monitored or get control over it by the government
Anonymity is just a feature that attracts specific group of people, not everyone wish to stay anonymous. In this manner whether the coin gives anonymity or not matters to a very little percentage while the continued development and the fulfillment of the people's need is the important factor that decides the future of anonymous and non anonymous coins.

Everything will depend on the development path that digital technologies will take. Personally, I believe that in the future, each person will constantly monitor his life, accessible to all people at will.
Consequently, anonymity will not be as such, and therefore the crime associated with anonymity will not be either. In view of this, it can be assumed that in the future there will be no need for anonymous coins.

I don't think that the governments can really stop any anonymous cryptocurrencies unless there are specific mandates, policies and regulations purposefully put into place that would stamp out any cryptocurrency to fiat conversions. That would really stifle the scene and people would start panic selling. Instead I believe organizations like the SEC, CFTC, the treasury departments and congress will each issue some sort of small amount of guidance on to to proceed lawfully within these sectors. The toughest part is to prevent the strangling of innovation while still maintaining balance and order.

Anonymous coins for now I think have not found the best time to get success, which government do you mean, it seems that no government has the right to oversee these anonymous coins, but can they be called anonymous coins if they are listed on the exchange that requires users to do so KYC, so it looks like what anonymous coins are discussed here

They have future, only if government will allow them. The biggest problem of anonymous coins have to face is the government. Even if there is a big demand over it, the government will be its biggest hindrance. I don't think it will be easy for anonymous coins to be accepted in public because I really doubt that the government will allow and support it. People can take too much advantage of it.

You can say so because in crypto we will have to face this anonymity and it is the reality that crypto is anonymous and no one knows what is going to happen next so invests your money and just forgets about the anonymity of crypto. It is a good feature for the investor as no one would know who is having how much crypto coin it all will remain secret.
I agree with you that encryption is a future development trend and cannot be banned, but may be regulated by the government, so more people will invest in cryptocurrencies
Encryption should not be the future of development but that has already achieved to bring a good privacy tech to the crypto users. Remember privacy is the main aims for cryptocurrency as the centralized system is forcing us to never try to control our economic.
As long as the privacy coin still used centralized exchange site and that can be banned anytime.

All the anonymous cryptocurrencies (including Monero, Zcash, Deep Onion, Veil, Verge.etc) are facing issues of liquidity. Trading them in the exchanges (where KYC is enabled) is going to attract unwanted attention from the authorities. And there is not enough liquidity available in the DEX sites and P2P platforms to trade these currencies. The 24-hour trade volume for XMR used to be in the $200-300 million range. Now it has decreased to a fraction of that number.

why do you say cryptocurrency is under government surveillance. is there any evidence that can support your writing?
since I entered cryptocurrency until now there is no government from the country that can control cryptocurrency. from the beginning cryptocurrency was decentralized and moved freely without anyone watching and controlling. some governments can only refuse or accept cryptocurrency.
do you mean cryptocurrency like libra? yes it is true that at this time the libra project received strict supervision from the United States government.
The United States, Germany, and Japan have already begun regulatory frameworks. Some countries, such as China, have banned cryptocurrency trading

Anonymous cryptocurrencies will never be controlled by the government or any organization. And anonymous cryptocurrencies are safe havens for money laundering offenders and related matters, so governments around the world now ban anonymous cryptocurrencies and don't allow any citizens to use them. In the future, I think anonymous cryptocurrencies will face major barriers from governments and I think they will be very difficult to grow like other cryptocurrencies. It will even die and be removed from exchanges because of strict requirements
Yes, I also think that the obstacles to the future growth of cryptocurrencies mainly come from the government.
But the dark web market cannot be banned, and transactions are about to be transferred to the dark web market

it's about no hope. There is no need for the government to look at it, but investors themselves are bored with such privacy coins. As you can see in this year, all alts grow when bulls come but only privacy coins fall and drop sharply when bear market comes in. This shows that the market is phasing out privacy coins, now only Alts and Bitcoin and some good tokens are left. so if unlucky to invest in such privacy coins we should sell now to buy the top alts. That will be our chance to remove the gauze.

Some article says it's even faster than ethereum or litecoin. I think TPS is the least concern of someone who want to make anonymous payments. I also don't think monero will be as popular as other mainstream coins like bitcoin or ethereum but there will always be a strong demand for it and that will increase as regulation tightens.
Maybe you think that anonymous users don't care about TPS. But I think it is important for development.
There is also that monero is not very friendly to miners, leading to the loss of important customers. Although the market value is large. Probably no longer welcomed by new investors, they may turn to new, low-market anonymous coins. For example, the deeponion that has risen in the past two years. After the release of deepsend, anonymity works well. I think there is a lot of space
I never said they don't care. Of course they still do but what's probably more important to them is the level of anonymity a certain coin gave provide for their transactions.

Monero did lose miners from their latest upgrade (read ALTCOINSMonero loses ‘quarter of miners’ as network sees successful shift to RandomX) but that number might grow again.

Quote
[…] just before the fork, there are about 40,000 unique mining addresses. And right now, we’re at about 27,000-28,000 . So, we’ve lost about a quarter of miners from the upgrade. Now, that number is still slowly increasing, so, that probably means a large number that we’ve lost just didn’t upgrade in time.

I don't know about Deepoinion, I read some people saying it's a scam coin but that's irrelevant to the discussion. Surely, there will be competitions and users can choose which anonymous coin they prefer.

There' s no proof crypto under government supervision, in crime side yes but in regulation no. Every country has different respond about crypto and take safety way about it. If government take control crypto, the anonymous coin will become target to delis because something can't be track is not good. The coin can be use for illegal purposes and government can't do nothing. Government need wise step to respond crypto, this financial instrument need system and regulation to keep running because like or not their citizen can take benefit from it.

TThanks for sharing,Do you know Monero's TPS? It is difficult to reach the current transaction scale of BTC, so it may be difficult to popularize on a large scale.
I haven't used it so I can only rely on information I see on the internet. It's definitely faster than bitcoin.

How long does it take to send a transaction?

Block time is one minute. On average it will only take a one minute a transaction to first appear in the block chain; however, exchanges usually will require at least 18 confirmations (blocks) before adding funds to your account, and the standard wallet requires tbd confirmations before considering received coins to be available for use.

A time of 10-20 minutes is generally the longest length of time you should consider waiting if your transaction isn’t confirmed in a couple of minutes.

Some article says it's even faster than ethereum or litecoin. I think TPS is the least concern of someone who want to make anonymous payments. It'll come down to government regulation regarding anonymous or pivacy crypto, just like how Korea is telling their exchange to hunt down then anonymous coin and delist them. None of government is happy with the presence of this anonymous coin that could potentially help people launder their money and avoiding taxes thus reducing the taxes income for a country. the whole thing about this privacy coin is just trying to go against government and you know what the answer will be if government put crypto under supervision.

Now it wouldn't have the anonymous tag in it if it were be to supervise by the government. Most of the shady people engage in shady businesses and they would do their thing with shady tactics an practices. To maintain that they have to use anonymity and it includes crypto, for most alts they are anonymous so if the government supervise it I bet there will be only few coins who would pass the screening.

On the issue of anonymous currency, I want to say that the government hates anonymous currency, but many successful people like to evade laws and regulations. I think they will like cryptocurrencies like this. In this society, there are many good businessmen and many businessmen who like tax evasion. It can be said that governments should use their own means to combat anonymous currencies, but eliminating anonymous cryptocurrencies is very difficult. After all, there are still people in society who like this cryptocurrency.
Called anonymous coins, the ability to evade and limit communication with the government is too high, besides, it is not created by the government, almost all advantages belong to users and those who want to earn higher income from tax evasion, so even though the government may hate it but they have almost no means to completely eliminate this opponent. While this competitor is constantly evolving, and this development may not be public but the future can be determined quite well when supporters are constantly growing.

Government won't be able to bring all crypto currencies under their control. All they can do is force people to use it under their regulation. Even if people don't follow their regulation how is the government going to stop them? How will they keep track of those who are breaking their rules? Was the government able to remove pirating through p2p torrenting ? Nope. All they are able to do is take down those torrent site but people are still being able to connect with other users and continue pirating.
On other hand, how exactly is the government able to bring anonymous coins under supervision if they can't even know who is transacting in the first place?

Governments seriously doesn't know what they're talking about i mean they're trying to supervise an anonymous coin that's most likely secured from any tracking by anyone that's why its anonymous. This is why we should have coins free from control of any centralized government or monetary system, we should have the right to use our own money anytime we want or anyway we want.

With regards to anonymous coins, once a cryptocurrency is regulated, I do not think that it has a future in the public market since government wanted to trace everything and anonymous plays the exact opposite of that.  They (anonymous coins) do have a future on the black market though.

If the cryptocurrencies will have a massive adaption, the anonymous coins got no chance in the future. The authorities will sure stop those anonymous coins because it will become a reason for the criminals to continue their activities because they will have confidence to do illegal things as they cannot be trace by the cops or any authorities. We don't need anonymous coins, we need a coin that has a real use and application in the real world.

If government can fully control cryptocurrencies why are they trying to build their own digital currencies? Why is china and central bank aiming for separate coin for their people? Of course they have no control here, bitcoin is decentralized and so are many coins, anonymous coins are designed not to be tampered with or control, that is a good real use case don't you think?
Governments just want to use technology, they have a hard time controlling decentralized currencies
Do you have any evidence that the government will control cryptocurrencies?
As far as I know from the very first days when cryptocurrencies appeared on the market, governments wanted to control it but they didn't succeed. Cryptocurrency users are ubiquitous in the world and there is no government that can control them.
you are right. They have no control, so they figure out ways to ban cryptocurrency transactions
I think the government doesn't ban cryptocurrencies, they just ban the use of cryptocurrencies as a means of payment.
A friend of mine in China said that he could still buy and own cryptocurrency, but he would break the law if he used it to pay for any kind of item.

A decentralized cryptocurrency and government regulation do not always mix well. Though almost impossible, there is still a chance that both can coexist without harming the other. It will be a difficult and long debate in how resolve this issue. But once we find the best answer, the industry of crypto will then enter a new era of successful market.

Hello everyone and Merry Christmas! According to the current situation, cryptocurrencies are about to be brought under government supervision.
When will crypto be brought under government supervision? Where? Sad, because supervision is an opportunity to become their power and clearly will only benefit them. How supervision will control crypto, interventions that will eventually be centralized.

Anonymous coins will continue to be available and grow in the future, because not everyone likes transparency and also does not want their transactions to be known to the public. Therefore, anonymous coins were born to maintain the privacy of its users, because I think privacy is part of the security aspect.

I think it's legitimate to use anonymous coins for personal use, not for larger parties, in my opinion it would be very risky if used in a larger party. First up and down the price cycle will certainly hurt the team. And the second is that there are many more bona fide coins for institutions or companies. But back to yourself and your strategy in dealing with situations like this.

I do not believe that cryptocurrency will be controlled under the government, it will be difficult, anonymous coins cannot be controlled by anyone because it is decentralized so that the coin will automatically run on its own without anyone controlling it.
Yes of course anonymous coins will have a bright future because now many projects are launching anonymous coins so this will develop rapidly in the future.

No. Because under regulation, anonymous coins will surely lose their only edge - anonymity.

But my thought is that, it will seem like an open market where people will have choice to choose what they want. Coins like bitcoin has already made significant impact and will continue because many are looking for such freedom.

Hello everyone and Merry Christmas! According to the current situation, cryptocurrencies are about to be brought under government supervision. Do you think that anonymous coins have a future in this case? How should we choose, thank you for your proposal
With the use of anonymous coins in the future, certain problems can really arise. Japan has already banned the circulation on its territory of such anonymous coins as Monero, Zcash, Dash. Surely other states will do the same to avoid the danger of using these coins for criminal purposes. It will be easier for states to ban them than to take risks, because they cannot control them at all. Of course, some people will try to avoid the prohibitions, and see what comes of it.

I'd say that without regulation they will thrive by themselves, because it is almost impossible for regulators and policymakers to completely shut off this industry as a whole when you have multiple independent decentralized blockchains out there that all offer anonymous transactions.

But with regulation, you're choking the growth of this sector by the very same means that it is currently flourishing by.

I also don't think monero will be as popular as other mainstream coins like bitcoin or ethereum but there will always be a strong demand for it and that will increase as regulation tightens.

What do you mean by Anonymous? Well, if you are referring for those coins that are still unknown or not popular, I think there will be a future for everything. Whether it is bad or good due to regulation or as you have said, supervision. Things have different perspective and we want to see the good result when they implement the regulation through the help of government agencies.

It's still Christmas in some parts of the world so Merry Christmas.

About the "cryptocurrencies are about to be brought under government supervision", are you referring to the FATF travel rule? It's the latest attempt by authorities to "regulate" the crypto market by requiring crypto exchanges collect and record customer information related to crypto transactions. I've opened a discussion about this before and you can read it here https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/fatf-travel-rule-and-privacy-coins-5186577

Do you think that anonymous coins have a future in this case?
The FATF rule forced some exchanges to delist anonymous and privacy coins but that didn't stop these coins from getting listed in other exchanges. The way I see this now, the demand for coins like Monero will increase as the government tries to regulate the entire crypto market.

Yes they can exist with certain modifications and rules stated by the regulators but then again they need to accept and follow all the requirements of the regulators otherwise they may end up closing the project due to non compliance.

Really? I'm not sure if this will pursue cause probably many projects will not agree to this. They cant enforce as they please what they wanted to happen in crypto space. If this happened, then some will probably abort their ongoing projects, why? Of course some legit one prefer the decentralized approach and dont want to be handle by this smug that only goal is to impose an added tax for their benefit.

Anonymous coins are threat to the government, they can't have control over them and that is what these coins are created for, go dark with full privacy, this is their real use case and to be honest government destroys many lives in the past as we know it which is why I think privacy coins will always have a chance of survival

I do but that will be used by personality and will never be adopted institutional or companies. It has a bright future when it comes to the private usage to securing or store your money without the possibility for others to trace your coins or money.
The anonymous tech will always exist even crypto will be brought under the government.

There are many demands for anonymous coins. So it has space to develop in the future
But, the demand is *usually* for bad thing such as money laundering, ilegal buying, etc

I think, goverment would never give this coin type to be develop. It can harm to many people
But, once again. This is crypto. Goverment isnt too easy to stop this one.

No, of course. Anonymous coins are anonymous coins. Take the anonymous from what, what is left? They are nothing. Their banner feature is its anonymity. That is what they market and promote, that is what people are interested about, and that is the main reason why people are using that particular coin. So if they lose that, they will become a useless coin. That is why they will never allow that. They will go dark most probably.

oh? i missed the memo it seems Cheesy       what makes you say crypto's are being regulated?
i mean maybe one could argue that its been slowly happening for years, i could agree with that, but honestly?
it NEEDED it.  Crypto has become something, i think like most things, thats NEEDS regulation.   Years of lawlessness, has left many with a sour taste for crypto
People are scamming left and right, and there seems to be no established standards anywhere : /   i never thought i'd welcome government involvement, but i kinda do : /
