There are services like firstbits, bitcoinwallet.com, bit.co.in to do that.

Wow! That is so neat! Now, only if there was a website that shows where all the bitcoins went, where they came from, etc., instead of a person pulling up the block chain thingy on their computer.

I also can't wait till the day I can talk to people using my computer instead of wasting minutes on my phone. It's probably 10 years out before we can order, then watch movies on our computers.

Hello, I was wondering if it's possible to make it so that you can tie a unique name to a private address.
For example, let's say I have 'podyx' tied to my bitcoin wallet at home and i'm out, my friends would be able to search in their bitcoin app/wallet/whatever for podyx and send bitcoin to my bitcoin wallet at home without having the need for QR-code or public key

This will be needed for mainstream adoption in my opinion

This could probably work... but like any 'unique' names eventually you'll run out of regular names quickly resulting in a lot of names like Bob321. I suppose thats better than a qr code, but not going to be the prettiest thing.
