These are the basics one must follow and thanks for sharing this information and trust me I have been through all these possible scamming attempt but since I am in crypto domain for quite long time I am aware of these tactics used by scammers and I deal with such cases almost everyday as I work for an Ecommerce company.

People should just keep in mind that no one will help them for free and why would someone try to offer something for free.

I agree with all that you have mentioned above. If you want to keep your private keys safe, you have to be more conscious of your information, try your possible best to make it safe, and follow adequate strategies to keep it safe. Although scammers are wiser than you can ever think of, the most shocking thing is that they are super smart. So to me, anytime you are dealing with a scammer, you also have to think like a scammer and make sure that you will not trust anyone, especially people we meet online.
Some things that I think might be very difficult to escape from a scam are that they are very persuasive to the extent that you won’t even realise the time you are going to trust them or even trust their website and start following their procedures for you to get scammed, but to be sincere, if you are not trusting anybody and you are not greedy, you are definitely going to escape and succeed from the hands of those scammers.

There are many cunning individuals on the internet who seek to exploit others, and they are always inventing new methods to do so. It is for this reason that we should exercise extreme caution when using the internet. These cunning individuals, commonly referred to as scammers, are constantly trying to find new ways to deceive us, so we need to be on the lookout for them.

One important guideline is to never trust someone you haven't met in person. In other words, if you haven't met someone in person, you should probably avoid sharing too much personal information about yourself. In particular, we should never share personal information or make financial decisions unless we are 100% certain. This is because scammers thrive on the opportunity to learn a lot about us, which they then use to deceive us.Our personal information needs to be protected. We also need to exercise particular caution when it comes to cryptocurrencies. In the realm of cryptocurrencies, letting our guard down might result in scams, which is something we really want to avoid. Therefore, let's constantly remember to exercise caution and keep our internet travels secure.

If you have not fallen victim of scam before, you will not understand what the OP is saying. Yea "everyone is a suspect", these scammers are doing the most. Most of them do not even need to come to you seeking for all these information before they sweep your account, they already have malicious/ phisphing sites they operate with. In most cases,  with just replying  'okay' to a regular message that pops up on your screen, the deed is already done and you are left wondering how it happened. These guys are not relenting, therefore we must be vigilant and security conscious at all times. We have to verify every information before proceeding with anything at all.
Scammers are always strategizing on how to get more victims so we also have to be updating our knowledge about the market so that we are not use as scape goat where everyone would have to learn from. There is non of us that had been in the market for so long before now that might not have fallen to some challenges like this. Everyone should learn how e to keep their phrases safe so that no matter the attempt scammers could use to hack us, they would not be able to get to our wallet.

The rate of scam is increasing a lot, the internet and social media is now a den of scammers as it is the easiest means to reach people so they rip them off their hard earn money. its a call on us to be extremely careful as not to be a victim, they come in different ways which will entice you to fall for it but having this consciousness will help interrogate and decline becoming one of their victims.

We can see the rate at which new Altcoins are coming into the market with a 90% of them being scam, crypto scams have spread across with even implementing marketing strategy through top influencers so people will invest in them. we need  to be careful on what and where we invest.

Not all website that asks to connect your wallet is a scam website. A decentralized system may want your wallet in order to function effectively.
Also, understand that centralized exchanges ask for your information in the form of KYC, are they all thieves?
In your post, you have captured the general rule to treat scammers online. The best thing is to treat everyone as a suspect until they prove otherwise.
If you are ask to put 1 and get 2, sorry you are about to be scammed.

Is it only me who is kind of scared of what OP says?  The title of this thread is something a Blockchain Analysis company would say.

Yes I get the idea of this post.  But it frightens me that I am reading practically the words 'every body is guilty until proven innocent' more often than ever before.  Call me dramatic but it is used so often it is becoming normal to say it.

Do not trust strangers for wanting to give you something.  Or call it 'if something is given to you for free, you are the product'.  Just do not spread this B S idea of guilty until proven innocent.

4: Any website asking you to connect your wallet is a suspect. Why must you connect your wallet? If you must connect a wallet, create a fresh wallet address and generate a new key. You can connect the empty wallet there.

I recall a project in the past that required users to connect their wallet in order to redeem the various coins mined through the project's platform. Those who connected their wallets early and were given free offers to redeem their tokens before the main project's token was listed had their wallets emptied. That was the first time I came across something like that, and the team ran away with people's money; it's a good thing they discovered it early, or the disaster would have been much worse. Nothing worthwhile comes easily.

Yeah be cautious and do research before making any decisions.
Anything that's too good to be true is not true.
I'm still surprised people still fall for invest $1 and get $10 scam.
Suspecting everything is good but removes the fun in life
If you too cautious, you become me (Batman).

People must exercise caution when interacting online because scammers are only looking for any advantage they can to gain access to and steal your money. After working so hard for your money, you should be wary of cheap and free offers; you should be aware that nothing good or valuable comes easy; you must work for it. It is preferable to work for it rather than have it given to you for free. Anything that is free is highly vulnerable to fraud.

You are very correct in your analysis. we really need to be careful because people are going extra mile to scam people. Some time they will just send messages to random numbers and I fell they use true caller and dial random number and when the name registered on the network will appear, they will use it against you by telling you to send your personal information. And sometimes people are always ignorant about that, thinking it might be true that how do they get there number? Not knowing that one can generate a random number and get information about the contact because of Nin registration. And that made them to fall victim. So I urge us not to fall into scammers, because they have different strategies to strike there client.

1: Anyone asking you to invest and earn a huge profit is a suspect until proven to be a legit investment (stay away from Ponzi schemes and stay safe).
There are some times when you see some offers, then you should know you are likely going to be scammed if you fall for offers like that, but a lot of people are always looking for cheap things, so they will think it's an opportunity and they will want to utilize it. If you are asked to invest a huge amount of money and you are promised a high reward, and most of them always say there is no risk in the investment, and you will get a high reward within a short period of time, offers like that should be avoided. Any investment that claims there is no risk, then it's likely you are going to be scammed.

2: Anyone asking for your private information is a suspect; never give out your private information.
No matter how close you are to someone, when they start asking for your private information, you should start suspecting them. Nobody can be trusted, and someone you call your close friend might end up being the one hurting you. And when you visit any site and they are asking for your private information, if you can avoid giving out your information, then you should do that, and if you can't, then just stay away from the site.

3: Any site you are not familiar with is a suspect unless you are very sure it's the right website, so do not expose your information carelessly.
Be careful when visiting any website, make sure you double-check the website that you are visiting and make sure it's the real site that you intend to visit. If you are planning to download any application, then make sure you visit the official website of the application you are planning to download and get the link to the application from their official website. There are a lot of fake applications on the Play Store, so we have to be careful.

5: Any random person you meet online and he or she is telling you about investment is a suspect unless proven trustworthy.
Don't trust anyone you meet on the internet, no matter where you meet them, they should be treated like scammers. That's one of the ways to stay secure when you are on the internet. Some people will make you think they are real, but at the end, they are scammers, so don't trust anyone on the internet. So if you are asked to come and invest, then make sure you do your research to confirm if it's real or fake before investing in it. Don't be deceived by the testimonies they show you.

5: Any random person you meet online and he or she is telling you about investment is a suspect unless proven trustworthy.

People often become victims of scammers because scammers manage to gain their trust. They might offer an earning opportunity and actually pay good earnings at the early stage to convince people that it's legit, only to scam them as soon as they invest decent money. They are also typically good at communication - very polite, charming, etc.

So, it's easy to say to not trust people, but the whole point of scams is winning the trust.

Once we understand the market and how things works, I don't think it will be very easy for us to get deceived by scammers asking for our private key or secret information. This do no only applies to cryptocurrency alone, it also applies to our daily lives and how we keep our bank and work details safe from people that might use it against us to steal from us. Cryptocurrency is more of privacy and as users we need to be very careful and stay safe from people around us keeping our private keys safe.  Op had done well to inform us about what we need to know and stay safe in the market.

I get your point even though that some people are not suspect and I know that it is only for a person's safety. As what dave1 have said that your point is about don't trust and verify first before you can do something like trading. If you really want to be really secured is to have a good privacy and less times doing something that involves other people, platform or a website then you'll be safe. There are people who are doing it and still safe for now and didn't get to experience something bad.

A lot of newbies fail in this area. They never ask questions about an investment scheme or casino before they use it and later create an accusation thread on this forum about the platform they used that scammed them.

Before using any platform you were introduced to, do research about that new platform. Seek to know how reputable a platform is before engaging with it.
I believe you have said all but no matter how reputable a platform is you still have to treat them as suspects. We see a situation where a good platform turns bad through exit scams.
Remember "not your keys, not your coin".

Stay private both on the internet and offline. If you think you can trust people offline because you know them, kindly remember that you only know those people facially; you don't know what's going on in their heads about you.
Staying private still guarantees better safety if the best person is not security conscious, avoids human error, and never shares information that affects their security online.

If you doubt it, entertain any of them and see how it ends. Anyway, the bottom line is that we're going to be seeing more of these charlatans as we approach the bull run. The sad thing will be those who've read all these warnings and the cunning ways these scammers get their victims but still fall for it. If only we can stay private both offline and online. Unfortunately, that seems impossible nowadays. Staying private in this digital age is something that is not just within our control and authority. Health records, school records, even your dentist's records, are backed up in a cloud storage. Even government agencies are keeping personal information in hot storage. So, we really can't avoid having our personal details kept online.

Recently, even my country's primary data recording agency fell victim to a hack. There was a data breach. It happened shortly after the country's main health insurance agency also experienced a data breach following another hack. So, however careful we may be to keep our privacy intact online and offline, if the government itself is incompetent, our personal data could be accessed by other people.

The point is that the security and privacy of all of us is a priority, whether in the real world or in cyberspace. Because currently finding someone you can trust is very difficult. So to take safer steps, I really agree with all the points you explained. Because everything you explain actually happens a lot. Moreover, we as crypto users, of course in the real world or in cyberspace, feel the same. Because we all have assets that other people can steal by just sitting at a computer desk. For this reason, must always be alert and careful.

You really echoed my mode of operation when I'm dealing with anything unknown to me on the internet, because the social media is a public space where you meet people and businesses that you've never seen or heard of before in your life. So it's true that every unknown or unverified sites on the internet is a potential scam, until you carry out a thorough research on them before taking chances to believe and do any sort of transactions with them. Even links that are innocently sent to you by family and friends should be investigated before trusting the links, because they might have ignorantly forwarded them to you as received. Scammers are improving their skills everyday so people need to also double their alert and vigilance, so they won't fall victims.

That's the main reason why I don't just believe a random person that coms to my dm with mouth watering business ideas and and update that's so good to be true. Although I feel that over-suspecting everything we find on the internet might make us miss some important opportunity that would have been of high benefit to us and so what I do most of the time is to make my own personal research regarding whatever information or update someone brings and if i get positive feedback from people, I consider going into it but if i get negative feedback, I find the nearest exit point asap.

Some people are actually too naive, and that is why they fall for these kinds of cheap scams. On a normal note, how can someone that you have not met face-to-face ask you to invest? Some people also fall into these kinds of scams because they get pushed by their nature of greed and too much inquisitive demand to make sudden wealth.

There's a quote that says, "Do not every think that glitter is gold." If someone actually takes time to analyze any investment opportunity that comes to them, they can better detect the one that is scam and the one that is legit. Although scammers are also improving in their strategies but there is always something that doesn't look right in their plot, and if, as an investor or as a crypto enthusiast, you take some time to carefully analyze the process, you will find out if it's a scam or not.

What do you mean by this? Unless proven trustworthy, how can you prove that a stranger is trustworthy when they just hit you up in regard to an investment opportunity? Does proving trustworthy have to do with you testing the service first or what? Or are there other means of proving how reliable someone can be without even having to try what they advertise?

The reason why I said that you should make inquiries and ask some important question where necessary is because if you actually ask people around you, you could get information from another person who have been scamed by same person and that to verify that it's totally a scam.

It must not be verify as trustworthy, just treat them as scamer and be very conscious.

You don't need any proof, they're all scammers especially when it got things to do with the cryptocurrency industry. Scammers are known for using the phrase (earn big rewards) in many other way that you can rephrase it, to attract their victims. They feast on your greed and hunger for wanting to reap where you didn't sow a seed or with little effort and want a bigger reward. If you're not holding your private key you don't own that coin so you should be avoiding all the centralized platforms asking you to invest with them as it  doesn't matter if they're legit or not.

Not every website that ask you to connect your wallet is a scam, some actually needs you connecting your wallet before you can use the platforms and some example are DEX and the supposedly defi platforms that we now have due to the popularity of the defi sector and other decentralized things we can use some smart contracts Blockchain to do. But while not all website that asked you to connect your wallet are scam, your precautions of having a new wallet for that purpose is encouraged to avoid exposing your wallet to fruadsters.

You don't have to wait for them to be proven trustworthy because no legit person will be messaging you about an investment just like that. Don't be their next victim, if you want to invest just buy your coins and hodl in your personal wallet that you have access to all the sensitive information without any third party been involved.

Truly, everyone is a suspect until the prime suspect is caught. It is best applicable to the Crypto world as well and all you have listed are true facts of what is happening in the society today.

On a normal there are some certain things we ought to know and do so as to be at peace with ourselves. No individual should make  themselves vulnerable to scammers to easily get themselves falling for the tricks of scammers. Wisdom applies that we do a proper research before engaging in anything online likewise offline too for our safety because if we do not take caution, we will be the victim as a result of our ignorance. So therefore, your post is worth the time mate. Research is the best teacher. That's how it should be and everyone should make research beforehand when deciding to use a platform, exchange or anything related to the world of Cryptocurrency. How safe is it when we use it and maybe we will find the answer when we really know it and every decision must be taken based on great knowledge so that we don't make a mistake in choosing. Trusting people offline or online is not a problem, but what needs to be considered is whether they can be trusted.

We will be much safer being anonymous because other people don't need to know about our activities here, at least that's what I do and not many people know me personally when it comes to being involved in the crypto space. Maybe different people have different views, but I think being anonymous will be much safer for all forms of involvement here.

Everyone on the internet should have this mentality. Sadly we live in a world where people live their lives on social media. We spend so much time on our screens that we forget that people we interact with on the social media space are ‘accounts’ controlled by a person/persons who may or may not be a catfish. I love the way OP put it, everyone is a suspect until proven otherwise. If they had a way to make such high profits, they would keep that information to themselves.

OP has written a good guide for all those who have not yet realized that the internet is a very dangerous place, especially for those who are naive and believe everything they see and read. Caution and critical thinking can sometimes be tiring, but they pay off in the long run.

We must know that today cryptocurrencies are very popular, and that bad people in the real and online world are always trying to trick us, whether it is promoting various crypto projects that have no sense or purpose, or stalking us with the aim of trying to hack or even physical attack.

Therefore, I would agree with the OP that it is not wise to share your "crypto stories" on social networks, but also to tell your friends or acquaintances that you invest in this or that. They don't necessarily have to be bad people, but when you tell someone something (even in confidence) you can never be sure who the information will reach in the end.

Unless you have seen people who are close to you who have used what they advertise and confirmed that it's legit, even so, it's still not enough reason to trust someone online. To summarized everything, you don't trust but verify. And with that, as what the OP has pointed out, it's obvious that individuals asking for your personal info shouldn't be trusted simply as that.

So in the world that we move in, we shouldn't trust anyone around us.

Even in public places if you try to open your wallet, so should be aware of your surroundings. Same as when you type your PIN in an ATM machine, you just don't know, maybe there are criminals around you just watching your every move.

That's actually a good set of list of factors on how someone should look into everyone on this market. Since the community is growing and many people getting in and joining this entire crypto community. Many of them are prone into scams and that's how weak they are when a total stranger approaches them as if they're a hero and wanting to teach them something how this market revolves. But the motive is there and that's to take them out of control and to deceive them with ill intentions and to mislead them. All of the questions are good guides for someone who's not yet familiar on how to spot on some typical scams.

Greed and lack of thought is what makes these scammers get what they want. They know that you believe all the news and have a preconceived belief that Bitcoin is a get-rich-quick journey, so they appeal to your emotions in order to get the largest possible amount of profits.
Invest only in Bitcoin. If your friend starts telling you about a high-profit investment, make sure it is his account and then advise him to stay away from any investment that seems too good to be true.

Nice one I believe you have experience with scams that made you come up with this post, but mind you, it's very cautious content. If only we were not driven by greed, then we could possibly listen to this advice. But everyone who will be trying to be more careful from now on shouldn't overplay the role; don't be overly cautious to the extent of not taking risks anymore or to the extent of ignoring your success for safety reasons.

Just be guided, trade with caution, and always be aware of almost everything to be safe.

Secure your wallet, invest only by buying Bitcoin and holding it in your wallet with your private keys saved privately,  never get greedy and do not trust any third and doing so is at your own risk, some time scammers ride on the gullibility of the victims and if you knew their tactic and good understanding approach,  you can never fall victim for them, because the majority of the time, if you are not greedy or looking for fast profits, it hardly that you fall victim for those scammers.

The title of this topic is a statement the police in my country frequently like to use while investigating some crime cases. If our crypto enthusiast also implies that same slogan in their crypto journey, it will be difficult to fall victim to every online scam. We must know that privacy and security are very important aspects of the crypto community. Key states that I think we should apply such a slogan to are:

1: Anyone asking you to invest and earn a huge profit is a suspect until proven to be a legit investment (stay away from Ponzi schemes and stay safe).

2: Anyone asking for your private information is a suspect; never give out your private information.

3: Any site you are not familiar with is a suspect unless you are very sure it's the right website, so do not expose your information carelessly.

4: Any website asking you to connect your wallet is a suspect. Why must you connect your wallet? If you must connect a wallet, create a fresh wallet address and generate a new key. You can connect the empty wallet there.

5: Any random person you meet online and he or she is telling you about investment is a suspect unless proven trustworthy.

6. Last but not least, any random person you meet on the internet is a suspect. Trade cautiously.

I will make a note: P.S. Be very conscious, stay alert, and learn to ask questions, make research and make every necessary inquiry before taking action. Before using any platform you were introduced to, do research about that new platform. Seek to know how reputable a platform is before engaging with it.

Stay private both on the internet and offline. If you think you can trust people offline because you know them, kindly remember that you only know those people facially; you don't know what's going on in their heads about you.
