They eventually responded to this and I'm pleased to say has now been resolved.

Only because you publicly accused them of scamming you. Interesting how they decided to send your money back only once you’d done that  Shocked

I certainly won’t be depositing there any time soon.

@digitalc, can you attach screenshots of the email you sent all to fairlay support? I'm having trouble reading your message chronologically because there are 2 fairlay email addresses that you mentioned ([email protected] and [email protected]). Maybe you accidentally sent a different BSV address between the two support addresses.

You need to move this to the scam accusations board if you think you have been scammed. I do not think many users will see it in here.
I guess this must go into the investigation room in advance. Both parties make mistakes.
First, digitalc has transferred BSV which is a type of crypto that is not supported in fairlay services. I think it's okay that they want a small fee to make a return which will take up a lot of their time and it's also need a transaction fees. Then the fairlay sends a return address different from that given by digitalc.
Address claimed by digitalc: 1DcKhGurZ9UEhrr5VcY8KaARKiQ9ByokKk
Address sent: 18v24wSUmucuzn1Jat6PHkzDzhYm3yma3u

I don't know technically about BSV, but the fairlay support needs to sign message their own address (1PknJbEo7DGmqCcD2kNMY2oWWM9tzD5Tg9) and explain where they have gotten the address (18v24wSUmucuzn1Jat6PHkzDzhYm3yma3u).

They agreed to do it at a price of 5 mBTC.
Any legit service is not going to ask a fees to return the money. This is a red flag.

I was recently corresponding with fairlay to return 10 BSV which I had sent to them in error.

They agreed to do it at a price of 5 mBTC.

I sent 5 mBTC to the fairlay user 'WalletService' as instructed.

They emailed me to say that they had sent the 10 BSV to me, but they sent it to a different address.

I queried if this was done in error.

I have received no reply despite several follow ups.

The 5 mBTC which I sent has been "reverted".

Below is the correspondance.

Hi Thank you. This transaction was sent to a different address to the one which I gave.

Have you done this in error?

Kind regards.

I Forgot to tell: You need to send 5mbtc to either [email protected] or simple the walletservice account on fairlay. It doesn't help if you send it to your own account, we can't access that.

Hi

I have sent 5 mBTC to my account. Please accept this to recover the BSV which I accidentally sent to my fairly mBCH account.

My username is redacted.

Kind regards

From support box on fairlay.com website (no timestamps)

redacted: I wanted to exchange my BCH for BTC but there wasn't enough liquidity.
● redacted: I thought the max withdrawal was 50,000 mBTC. Is it 5,000?
● redacted: Sorry, I meant mBCH
Ognjen-Support: I understand. I'll check with the part of our team handling mBCH transactions if we can speed this up.
● redacted: Thank you.
● redacted: Hi. It looks like with my previous BCH deposit I also sent you BSV. Are you able to return these funds to me please? Here is the transaction ID 984fe92d95076a0c2dedb509532ce012ab4d65a2e4c094ff5f7f30ea926f85bc
Ognjen-Support: Hi, redacted. To resolve this please send an email with your username and all details to [email protected].
● redacted: sent. When can I expect a reply?
Ognjen-Support: Hopefully in the following hours.
● redacted: Hi. Still no reply. Please could you prompt them?
Ognjen-Support: Okay. I'll contact as well part of our team handling altcoin transactions.
● redacted: Hi. Still nothing. Please can I get an update by the end of the day?
Ognjen-Support: I am also waiting for an answer and I'll let you know as soon as I get more details (hopefully by the end of the day).
● redacted: Thank you for the reply.
Ognjen-Support: Hi, redacted. I was let known that we don't support that chain at all. We could try to find the privatekey to that address and maybe use some Electron Wallet (downloading and syncing the full wallet would take many days). Not really worth all the effort on our side, so you will first have to pay the usual 5mBTC fee to get this work going.
● redacted: Thank you. I will pay this, please allow me some time to sort it out. Shall I just deposit to my fairlay (mBTC) account?
Ognjen-Support: Yes. Please make that deposit, and contact [email protected] for all the additional details.
● redacted: Hi. I did and I've had no reply again. Please can you chase this up for me?
Ognjen-Support: Hi. You should get all the additional details soon. I did all I could regarding this issue, so I am not anymore connected directly with it.
● redacted: I appreciate your help thus far, but having sent three emails in total over time and having zero response via email you are the only representative who returns my correspondence. If I haven't received a reply by tomorrow I will come to ask for your assistance once again. I appreciate your mediation.
Ognjen-Support: I undersdand. Please do and I'll do all I can to help with resolving this issue.
● redacted: Hi again. I've received no reply. I'd appreciate your mediation again please. Please could you prompt them for an update?
Ognjen-Support: Okay. Thank you for letting me know. I'll check it once again.
● redacted: thank you.
Ognjen-Support: Hi, redacted. Could you please check if you've been sending email to the correct address ([email protected]) as I was let know that we didn't get any of them?
● redacted: I have received a reply. Thank you for all your help. With a little bit of luck, correspondence will now continue over on email.
Ognjen-Support: Hi, redacted. I am glad to hear that we are able to help. If you already didn't do that, you can speed this up by sending 5mBTC via the insite payment system to username 'WalletService'.
● redacted: Thank you. I have now successfully made the transfer.
Ognjen-Support: Okay. Thank you.
Ognjen-Support: Hi, redacted. Could you please send us BSV address to which we can send you your funds?
● redacted: 1DcKhGurZ9UEhrr5VcY8KaARKiQ9ByokKk
Ognjen-Support: Thank you.
● redacted: Hi. I've received an email confirming that the transaction has been made and the link to the block explorer proving it, but the link shows the transaction made to a different address to the one which I gave. https://satoshi.io/tx/d0a22c580c5f743e083bc44fcbd6fbb984523910a5a7871892b94b7575faa963
Ognjen-Support: Did you let people handling altcoins email about it?
● redacted: just messaged
Ognjen-Support: Okay. Hopefully you will get your answer soon.
● redacted: Hello. I've still had no reply. Please could you ask them to acknowledge that they have received my email?
Ognjen-Support: Okay. I'll do that now.
● redacted: thank you
● redacted: Is there an update?
Ognjen-Support: No, I still didn't get any update.
● redacted: still no update?
Ognjen-Support: Unfortunately I still didn't get any updates.
● redacted: Ok. I will leave it over the weekend and come back to you on Monday. Thanks.
● redacted: Still no update at my end, do you have an update for me?
Ognjen-Support: I'm checking it right away, and hopefully we'll both get an update soon.
● redacted: That's not relevant. Has my BSV been sent to the wrong address in error?
Ognjen-Support: I didn't get any updates so I am unable to answer this.
● redacted: This is very dissatisfying.
Ognjen-Support: I agree, and I am really sorry that I unable to be more useful regarding this issue.
