Do it yourself, the impact of technology on social relationships

The new technologies are not just a technical matter.
In recent years the development of the free software and the open source approach has brought with it, more or less consciously, the construction of new ways of working, distribute, share; in a word the opportunity to build social relationships different from those suggested by the economy in which we live.
The advent of 3D printers and FabLabs offers to this imaginary a new dream: to emancipate this approach from its link with the world of the immaterial.
So what is it, for the collective experiences that are being developed around the world, “Do it yourself”. What could be done? and What can you dream of?

4 December 2013 h:19.30 Workshop with Peter Todd on cryptography and OpenPGP
Macao - Milano
https://www.facebook.com/events/202213953296968/
http://www.macao.mi.it/diario/fonte/unsystem/

This workshop is aimed at developers, programmers, and normal people who should be using OpenPGP to sign their source-code, sign & encrypt their e-mails, etc. We will talk about why it’s important, and the details of how to do it.
I’ll have my laptop to show people stuff, but feel free to bring your laptops and/or Android phones. Bring also your PGP fingerprints if you already have it, so we’ll be able to sign your keys as well.

Still wild and free
Dark Wallet is the project.
https://darkwallet.unsystem.net/

So the project is :

    Auto-anonymiser for your Bitcoins.
Broadcasters to avoid triangulation of your financial transactions.
Automatic fee discovery. Ability to set a tradeoff between confirmation time and fee size.
    Decentralised market discovery mechanisms.
    Distributed identity.
    Distributed reputation.
    Encrypted messaging.
    Private asset issuance.
    Decentralised trading.
Semi-persistant storage mechanisms. Such things could lead to an uncensored fast encrypted web. The holy grail of cipherspace.
    Timestampped proof of ownership.
    Encrypted shop-fronts.
Contracts, escrow, cooperatives, alternate ownership models, ...
Decentralised market places (ala Silk Road).
Uncensorable crowdfunding platforms, stock platforms and information blackmarkets.
    Highly scalable blockchain infrastructure.

It exist already. So what's new ?

The main feature is this one for me: Auto-anonymiser for your Bitcoins.
It exists as a concept since a while and as a prototype since few months thanks to Amir implementation. But it is hardly usable. Currently you must find people with which you'll share the transaction by yourself. It it gets included in a wallet software with a reasonable market share, it will be a game changer: if only 10% of the bitcoin transactions would use the coinjoin principle (additionally to the bitcoin-qt standard behavior of using new addresses every time), tracing the whole economic activity of any individual would be impossible, even knowing part of it.

FREEDOM AND DIY PRODUCTION.

Talk and debate about old and new digital freedoms with Cody Wilson, Amir Taaki and Jaromil (English/Italian speak)

We’ll talk about free movement of vectorial models and 3dprinters, there will be a presentation of new tools for DIY production and distribution of physical and digital goods.

From the most revolutionary point of view to the most realistic aspect, this meeting will explore the possibilities that are given to us by Internet and the new production tools.

Cody Wilson
Many people said it couldn't be done. Others called him a maniac. But
despite all the resistance and challenges facing him, he created the
worlds first downloadable and 3D printable gun. A former law student,
Cody has a deep interest in politics, economy and internet. He is
director for the Bitcoin Dark Wallet and DEFCAD - a repository of 3D
printable models.

Jaromil
Long term multimedia hacker and philosopher of free software. He is one
of the original hackers working for social activism out of occupied
spaces.

Amir
Bitcoin developer working on wallets and tools for this new emerging
economy.

Bitcoin, cryptography, 3d printers, fabLab, free software, GNU-Linux, GPL, hacking, liquid democracy.

Aliens, geeks, geniuses, nerds. Various forms that refers to specializations in the scientific field of this “new age”; more and more people are using technology to create models that subvert the financial, productive and social order in the world in which we live, wich we think to know completely.

The contradictions, the successes and the new frontiers of these experiments are the heart of UNSYSTEM.

From 27 November to 1 December – 5 full days of laboratory about DarkWallet. https://darkwallet.unsystem.net/

From 2 to 8 December – 7 days devoted to: talks, workshops, exhibitions and open debates. From all over the world, people who actually make this transformation every day will come to Macao, along with those who would like to better understand those practices.
