Where is the Love? If this is useless for even a small smile, then the grumps are right.
How about leave it as it is, but provide a way for established users to report a newbie post as useless drivel.
If some number of established users report all 5 of a newbies posts as useless drivel, then the newbie is forced to endure an aditional 4 hours and and additional 5 posts. This process continues until the newbie manages to post at least one post that is not reported as useless drivel by a predetermined number of established users.

I'd say up it, I'm at 10 hours and still don't feel like I know enough, hence why I'm still in the newbie section
