  • API Keys, Card numbers, CK Reference Numbers

Updates: Building what you need!

http://blog.coinkite.com/post/126999568271/updates-building-what-you-need

We’ve been busy listening to our customers and building-out the “little things” that can make a big difference:

  • Flex Liquidity feature can now be controlled on a per-account basis. This means you can reduce or increase the number of “change back” coins you get in each transaction. Perhaps for a busy hot wallet, you want lots of change outputs, so there are always some confirmed balances in your account. In other cases, you might prefer to have fewer larger UTXO. Regardless, you now have the control! We recommend 3 change outputs for multisig accounts (because those transactions can be larger and slower due to extra signatures) and 10 change outputs for max flexibility in normal hot wallets.
  • Pay buttons can now be created by API call! We still encourage the use of JWT Tokens to set prices, descriptions and otherwise modulate the contents of payment buttons, but some customers need to link payment buttons to specific accounts and of course, we all love automation! Now it’s simple to create a payment button via our API.
  • Bitcoin Pay buttons, at your option, may now require a refund payment address from your customer. This was always optional before. Depending on your business and how you use our buttons, this change might give you a lot more confidence you won’t be left in a situation where you’re holding a customer’s money and can’t send it back to them.
  • Proposed, but incompletely-signed shared-account/multisig transactions, are now highlighted on balances page. Some of ourbusy customers would lose track of a proposed transaction that needed signing. Now they are in your face until you cancel or sign them.
  • Webhooks no longer follow redirect responses (302, 300) and your webhooks must be hosted on standard port numbers, such as 80 and 443. This fixes some obscure security risks.

Update; We've added more info about our Offline Bitcoin Toolkit, it allows you to backup, sign transactions and generate any/all Coinkite multisig keys offline!

Quote

Back-up (Key Escrow), Generate Keys and Sign Transactions Offline

For additional security we offer theses downloadable files for use while off-line.

We provide this stand-alone, in-browser key generating tool, which creates a new random BIP32 ‘wallet’ to be your private key for the new wallet. The secret values that it picks are easy to print from the tool (for paper backup), and for storing on computers, we help you pick a secure passphrase and encrypt the file for you (using AES-256-CBC).

The resulting encrypted keyfile is verifiable, meaning if you have a little Unix background, you can be 100% sure that the key is encrypted using AES-256-CBC and with only your key.

Quote
Back-up and Key Escrow

The encrypted keyfile can be uploaded (one click) so that Coinkite can store it forever, and then we can decrypt it and use the key inside to authorize transactions very easily. The encrypted file can also be used offline without giving it to Coinkite if you wish.

Quote
Air Gap

Because we have delivered this “key generating” tool as a standalone Javascript/HTML file, you can use it on any computer with a browser. You can put the program onto a USB flash drive, and run it later, or on another computer or whatever. You do not have to trust us that we didn’t peek at your private key.

Good call on buying the food and drinks at the DEC_TEC meetup.  At least one person noticed!

From the FAQ/Security:

Can I have my private key?

"Your welcome message contains a copy of the root private key chain for your account. It's encrypted with our global vault key using AES-256-CBC."

Some users may prefer to sign up without an email address (email can be the weakest link!); only with a username, password combo (think password managers; or he can just remember his one strong password only used on secure places).

So how can you get your private key if you did not provide an email? Blockckain provides it from their web interface; certainly more private than sending it in email on a postcard.

Excellent news!!

That really is incredible news guys, to be included in Coinkite that allow people & retailers to have Web Wallets, Debit Cards and Payment Terminals is really a great accomplishment and definitely builds a solid foundation to work from. Not to mention it says huge amounts that the only other coins they allow are Bitcoin + Litecoin (not even Dogecoin). Congrats!

Historically, Master Card is more open to these types of new opportunities.

Sure, that works. If you could get in touch with master card and get it working, CoinKite would be a hit!

It says debit card, but from the images you cant really the back. Is it actually a debit card?

Yes, the chip works on our terminals and the back has a QR with a BIP32 bitcoin address.

Will it work on normal debit card readers? Can it function like a debit card assigned from a bank?

its not part of any bank system at this moment.

Nice to see you guys on the news. Looks good and some free advertising for your company Smiley

Few questions.

You have a set price in place for different types of accounts. If paying that fee each month or for the year and the price has sky rocketed over the year do we get a refund for the difference or a top up back to the account based off the fact that say paying PERSONAL $ 9.95/mo and market goes up say 20 to 30% and have then paid like $15 to $20 do we get compensated for that or more time added to our membership.

Next question. When do you plan on having your re seller system active or affiliate system up and running?

We do spot price only, so what ever is that moment.

Yes, the re-seller/affiliate is live! https://coinkite.com/merchant/revenue-sharing

We can’t be a world product without supporting the world’s fiat currencies, so today we add KRW (Korean Won), CHF (Swiss Franc) and NZD (New Zealand Dollar). Recently we’ve also added SEK (Swedish Krona) by request of one of our terminal operators.

Coinkite now supports 14 of the worlds’ fiat currencies.

In Canada bitcoins are considerate a commodity. We are not against anything.

Irrelevant, BTC at it's core is intended as a currency.
CoinKites TOS is a joke, I suspect you are a scam artist.
I highly doubt any POS machines will ship.
You make sentence flow errors like "considerate" instead of "considered",
yet you expect individuals to believe you have the intelligence to program a POS device.

What's worse the sentence flow issues are not limited to this forum,
your site is full of them.

Not all of us are born where english is the first language.

Bitcoins and Litecoins ("Coins") do not constitute a currency, an asset or a form of property at law or otherwise;... Any purchase or sale of Coins, for money, virtual currency or other consideration, involves inherent risks and may lead to the complete loss of any value, virtual currency or other consideration, and you agree to wholly accept any and all such risk.

Their TOS are against BTC, By registering at Coinkite you agree that BTC is not a currency.
Also their TOS is worded and set up in a way to steal BTC later.
Probably just another scam.

I'm a little confused with the fee.  Does it cost a fee to send Bitcoin or Litecoin from my Coinkite wallet to another Bitcoin or Litecoin address?  Or is the fee only for withdrawing at a Coinkite terminal?

Thanks.

We are a paid service.

We have two monthly/yearly fix price memberships, where we charge nothing to send/receive. And we have one where its free to keep money, but we charge a percentage to withdraw(send).

The fix price memberships have no fees on transactions, even on the terminal.

This looks really awesome. Great work.

One question though, regarding:
  • Privacy. You can generate new receiving addresses on demand.
Why on demand? With deterministic wallets I don't ever see a reason to reuse an adress, and especially not with HD wallets where a merchant could just give each customer his own adress chain making it possible for the customer to generate new sending adresses himself in the future.

Yes, we do that for the POS and for receiving, many people don't know that.

Coinkite is the leading bitcoin platform with multi-signature, bank-grade security,
hardcore privacy, and an advanced developer API.

We created the wallet, API and payment system we wanted to use ourselves, and think the world deserves to have. Our systems are transparent, high quality and secure. We answer emails and support requests and we will always try to keep you informed. We are based in Toronto, Canada.

Some of the benefits:
  • Real Security. Your bitcoins are in control
  • Multi-Signature. We support the most advanced types of multisig transaction types.
  • Full reserve, you can audit your funds at any time — we encourage it, there is a download csv button
  • First BIPS0032 HD Wallet in production that we know of
  • Our Terminal accepts payments from any Bitcoin user regardless of wallet host (including Bitcoin-QT, Coinbase, Bitstamp, BIPS, and others).
  • Security is our responsibility, not yours.
  • Reliable support—we answer emails—go ahead and try.
  • Speed. You are able to send and receive money fast.
  • Privacy. You can generate new receiving addresses on demand.
  • Jurisdiction. Our servers are in Canada and comply with Canadian Laws and the Ontario Privacy Act.
  • Know your money is here. We are full reserve and you can audit the location of your funds at any time.
  • No Limits. Full liquidity, all your funds are available to you 24/7.
  • HSM-based security, similar to how fiat banks protect your money.
  • We have a dead man’s switch, so if anything happens to us you will still have access to all of your funds.
  • Multiple accounts are supported under the same private key (e.g., checking and savings).
  • We offer merchant services, a map listing, affiliate programs] and other tools.
  • Our hardware payment terminals operate just like debit and credit card payment terminals, and they allow you to accept Bitcoin & Litecoin at Point Of Sale (POS).
  • We supply Bitcoin Debit Cards so your customers don't even need a phone, tablet or computer to use digital currencies.
  • We support multiple crypto currencies (Bitcoin, Litecoin, Testnet and more coming).
  • And we offer much more!
  • We are a paid service so that we don't have to sell you to pay our bills
  • Lots of good security features, 2FA, Memorable Images, No linking in e-mails, etc...
