Jamie,

Thanks for the reply. I am plenty well backed up, I've been using Armory for a long time.

I've done what you describe in the past, as a last resort.

It's what I consider the "nuclear option" and I'm hoping to avoid doing this.

I know this will work, the problem is that I'm "already" an old man, so to speak.  Wink

Wasn't there a config file in the bitcoin core  that I could delete, that would be refreshed on restart, and allow the client and the core to reconnect?

Is maith liom bitcoin
i had this problem today, after updating on win 8.1, tried a couple of things which got it working in the end.

1. i have a paper backup, so am assuming you do too. if not, do this first

2. uninstall bitcoin armory

3. uninstall bitcoin core (all versions)

4. delete locally stored blockchain on your computer in your user profile

reboot computer

5. install bitcoin armory again - when loaded, but was offline as couldn't find bitcoin

6. install bitcoin core again

reboot again

7 open bitcoin armory - for me, it had saved my wallets, but was basically doing the first load like when I used the software for the first time. It's now downloading the blockchain over bittorrent, then will catch up and scan.

So hopefully this helps!

I feel like such a noob, but I've been wrestling with this all day and have got nowhere.

I've been using Armory for almost a year, worked through other trouble like this, but this time I need help.

I searched unsuccessfully, although I can't believe there was nothing to find, I just didn't find it.

So here it is:

I uninstalled both the older Armory client that had been working fine for me, last use was a week ago, and the older bitcoin core x64 then installed both of the latest clients ( v0.92.1 and v0.9.2).

Since then I just cannot get Armory to go online and update. As soon as I open Armory, I get an error message jumping open saying "Bitcoind.exe has stopped working" if I ignore the message, Armory just does nothing (says it is "Initializing Bitcoin Engine" for hours on end)

or, if I tell the error prompt to close the program, Armory immediately goes into offline mode.

I'm using Win7 Ultimate, it been years since I've done any command line stuff, but if that's what I need, I'm game.

Any help?
