I like the idea of limiting the audiences in the poll . It will be beneficial if we have option to conduct poll restricted to membership level, activity or Merit.
It will be more smart if you will able to put 2 or 3 filters simultaneously instead of one.
Anyways, I do not think it will be ever go to in Theymos to do list.

I don't understand why the forum allows the poll creator to define the "Maximum votes per user"!
Is there any case where it is needed to create a poll where users can vte more than once?

"I'm making a new app, what operating systems should I support as I can see my maker engine accepts windows desktop, android and ios"?
For example or
"which programming language is best to use for open source projects". Maybe you'd vote for one with a huge community like c and python but know that cpp java and csharp are faster so vote for one of those too...

It'd be nice to make it so newbies can't post polls.

Nevertheless. I support your proposal to make it possible to add some filters to whom can vote.
Adding some filters will make it hard to manipulate the poll's results.

...

So it's like the difference between a checkbox and radio button. I thought it was about allowing the user to vote more than once...

Welcome to the SaltySpitoon, how Tough are ya?
There is no point in voting on forum polls when people have multiple accounts. But it'd be more effort to remove a default feature from SMF than to just leave it. Polls are fine as they are for topics that don't matter. For example,

"Hey guys, I might sell some of my mining hardware, I've got X. Would anyone be interested in it? If so, I'll go pick it up."

People probably aren't going to spam fake answers just to make the guy drive to wherever their mining hardware is hosted just for a laugh, so the poll results could be a good indicator of whether its worth going to pick them up.

On the other hand, " Hello, this is an official vote to see who thinks that this person is a jerk" probably wouldn't be a very useful poll because people will cheat the system, vote on multiple accounts, etc.

If you want more accurate results, you need people to actually post, so you can selectively interpret individual input. Being able to filter by rank, merit, and trust would do pretty well at identifying individuals who voted, so why not just require them to post.

BTW I requested an option to be able remove the poll the fist few minutes after the thread is created because now if you make a mistake to create a poll, you cannot remove it anymore, you have to trash the thread and make a new one.

It is not necessary to remove the topic because of this. Moderators can delete polls in the topics.

₿uy / $ell ..oeleo ;(
It's probably on theymos' 1km-long-to-do list somewhere on the bottom and it will be updated around the time when the last bitcoin is mined.. approximately the same time when the Epochtalk will finally be introduced.

I do not know what the decision-making mechanism in this forum "except theymos's updates," but voting is still a way to help make decisions.

Is there any update to the voting algorithm "Poll Options" in this forum? Allocated to certain ranks, using merits filters, trust rates.
If there is no point in voting, I suggest removing it.
