As Shorena noted MultiBit Classic is still supported for essential fixes.

In the latest version there are automatic reminders of upgrades and you get the option to download the installer there and then.
With the version 0.5.15 there were only notifications.

hi, im a very irregular user of the BitCoin network and MultiBit so my questions my sound very basic......

I downloaded MultiBit 0.5.16 and use it as my BitCoin s/w. I created my wallet with name and password and it works just fine.

I funded my wallet and have used it for a a few transactions over the last 12 months.  I think it is now out of date but I'm not sure.

Why does the s/w not check for the latest version?

What is the lastest version and where do I get it from.

any help would be appreciated, thanks

From the version number I think you are using multibit classic[1]. The latest Multibit Classic is 0.5.19. There is a complete new multibit now, but the classic version is still supported and gets crucial security updates AFAIK. It might be a good idea for you to advance to the new version. It includeds automated reminders on updates.
